Hmm, seems this episode slowed down the pacing a little and focused also on the training outside of the main competitions.

Seeing some of the guys from Nekoma train their bodies in the gym shows how dedicated they are. It's not just always about skills but also to keep a strong physical condition. Glad to also see more characterization on Nekoma's team such as Yamamoto.

The talk is centering around KajiKaji's character: Valleyball and game.

And that another team when talking the night before happens to be the opponent.

The coach of the opponent team knows the coach of Nekoma. Monkey forcing KajiKaji's character to run and get tired.

Imagination while running... Showing his practice w. his black hair. Someone who is opposite of him. Argument that made him emotional.

I see... to have someone like KajiKaji's character is what the coach always does. Now KajiKaji's character is tired and the team is in danger.

Trap? and w. that eyes of KajiKaji's character... he set a trap on the enemy team or? I cannot wait to figure out in next ep.

26:27 next.

I'm surprised. The show is now less focused on the actually matches between teams and rather the characters and relationships they build, and tbh I'm completely fine with that. Seeing the perspective of Kenma and his teammate, seeing how they were polar opposites and yet still started to bond with each other was really interesting to watch.

That was a good episode featuring Nekoma! It's always nice to see the anime take some time off and really develop some of the rival teams. It really serves to make the future matches that much more enjoyable and carry weight.

Was surprised to see focus shifted from the Karasuno game since we were right in the middle of that and the first set had just ended. Anyway, a good episode nonetheless.

Focus on Nekoma and the relationship between their team was good and amusing to watch at times.

It's awesome that we got focus on another team for a change! Kenma standing up for himself during that fight was so satisfying.

Totally forgot that we would get focus on Nekoma/Kenma. This will be a tough test of endurance for our boy.

I'm really curious to see whether they will finish this arc this season or not. I was expecting things to go like season 3, but I don't mind this change of pace. It is really good to see more about Nekumo. Really hoping that we get to see the trash can battle.

Some focus on Nekoma which was nice. The other team is aiming for Kenma and I hope he will overcome it.

I like nekoma and kenma. But holy hell this episode was boring as shit.

Firstly I don’t appreciate taking the camera away from the karasuno game. It kills the pacing and makes me feel frustrated since I was never invested in this match.
Secondly It was all flashback no game. They didn’t really expand a character just gave them more screen time when they were younger. Imo I didn’t really see a new side to these characters thanks to this flashback so I just wasted my time.
Thirdly the most interesting aspect this episode is the opponents. Having their coach as nekoma’s ex student is super interesting and would’ve liked to see how he improved over his coach’s style.

Well theres my rant

Kenma: "do i have to call you Tora?"
Kenma, two seconds later: "Tora!!!"
<3

looks like next week's episode will also be centered on Nekoma. I read the manga and don't remember how long was spent on their team, but I'd guess next episode and maybe one more. Back when I read the manga I wasn't a huge fan of Nekoma but now I appreciate them a lot more. I really enjoyed this episode and loved seeing young Kemna (with his dark hair!!)

Finally a Nekoma episode. Kenma best boy, I love seeing more of Kuroo, Kenma and the latter's rivalry-turned-friendship with Tora.

I hope Kenma sees through the opposite team's attempts to tire him out.

I was satisfied with this episode. I'm glad we got to see more of Nekoma. I also really relate to Kenma. I am so bad at training and exercising. Kenma is way more athletic then me by a long shot but I enjoyed seeing more of this side of him. :) Also little Kuroo is so adorable.

That was such a drag, wrong timing too for an episode like that imo by placing it directly in the middle. Massive stepdown from the Tanaka episode and should have been a separate OVA or outside the ongoing match right now rather than just stand out in the middle and interrupt flow.

Yassss i was waiting for this:))))

Bruh the scene when yamamoto tells kenma to call him tora and then it goes straight to them in nationals and he calls him that was amazing.

Kenma looks really good in white wow.

the paced slowed down a lot, not sure how I feel about that. I actually started anime cause I heard it was fast paced entertainment.

great episode though, i'm inlove with the art style:)

This was an amazing episode. I loved how we got to see the Nekoma players just spend time with each other. Kenma is so relatable, I remember when I stayed up like that playing video games(specifically Tanki Online before all the horrendous updates). I got in trouble with my Mom and thrown out of the house at 3 am for 30 minutes. His eyes, lmao I can’t-
It was refreshing to see Nekoma being fleshed out more. Kuroo x Kenma is the best friendship ever. Kenma and Yamamoto’s relationship was bittersweet and it turned more into mutual self respect towards the end, which was cool. This episode reminded me of how much I loved him in Season 1.

I don't think I was aware that Kenma and Tora used to despise each other and it was interresting to see their trust built with those two :)

The team Nekoma is fighting with in the match got me wondering... what's up with the bandanas? Cuz it didn't look realistic. Maybe for good luck? But even so, that doesn't sound right... What I mean is that in sports such as volleyball, basket, soccer, etc, they don't allow during a match a player use hats, non-sport accessories or personal belongings as far as I know :/ So why?

So they seem to know Nekoma's strategy thanks to their coach which was a former student of Nekoma's team. Nekoma is at a disadvantage and that doesn't look good ^^; I believe Kenma will figure something out to turn the table and win the match with the Monkeys >w> Also, very nice episode!

It was a nice flashback episode that slowed the overall pace (and prepared the groundwork for the possible Hinata v Kenma face-off), and going by the preview the next episode will also be about the Nekoma match. Great. I would never say no to more Kuroo.

But I gotta say the placement of the episode was kinda off but I guess they have a reason for that.

dam....a Nekoma focused ep is always nice! love how they focus on the characters and developments, first Ryuu and now Kenma and Yamamoto.

we got to see Kuroo being a good senpai, which we don't see so often since he's always acting kinda more kouhai-ish, i again got reminded of how i hate them being 1 year apart, the bromance is so strong i felt like they're the same age, i'll probably cry when Kuroo graduates lol

when Kenma said that haven't screamed like that before i knew the reason i find it a little hard to believe this cute calm voice is the same angry German guy, but een that scram sounded calmer than Eren's lol, gotta love Yuki Kaji-san

the opnetts aiming for the brain but i'm sure they'll overcome it as a team

seeing black (brown?) haired Kenma was weird but cute af lol

looks like the next ep will be Nekoma focused as well, looking forward to it

Loooved seeing some of Nekoma's past! It was really sweet seeing Tora & Kenma's relationship develop from hating each other, to frenemies to becoming solid teammates at the Nationals.

I'm glad we got this ep because I love Nekoma as much as Karasuno and I want to see them triumph in the Nationals too!

the growth of kenma and yamamoto as volleyball players and teammates was sweet to see. (kenma with black hair <3)

but i do agree if disrupts the pacing/hype of karasuno's match and tanaka's special moment.

Nekoma's team is getting screen time, very surprised cause I thought Karasuno's game would get the whole season but I was wrong.

This episode mainly focused character development between Kenma and Taketora from being two completely incompatible people to really good teammates . Also didn't think they would do two character development episodes in a row. Honestly I enjoyed this episode, it was something different.

Good episode :)

Was only a matter of time before Nekoma made their debut again and while I am happy to see them, felt this episode takes away some of the momentum and hype off of Karasuno's match. Some of the writing seemed a bit too redundant but enjoyed watching friendships being built and trust earned among them.

I was expecting them to focus on the matches however this side story about Kenma is really nice. I don’t pay much attention to him before but now I like him, he’s lazy but with brains <3

And it’s also nice that they also feature other match aside from Karasuno’s, or I think it will only be Nekoma since Nekoma is like the counterpart of Karasuno.

Overall nice episode, but I hope the next one will already have Karasuno’s match.

This was such a weird episode.

Right off the bat, the sudden abrupt shift to another match, another school, in the middle of a Karasuno game, is just jarring. I'm not convinced there was no better way to handle this. Further on, it's "Cats vs Monkeys", and yet everything that's cats vs monkeys in this episode is nothing but a tiny frame around the actual meat of the episode: Kenma's past and how he became friends with Tora. I do get the point this frame was set up to make, but it's still jumping almost half of a game while showing barely any of it.

Having said all that...

I definitely didn't mind the content we did get. Going back to look into a someone's past/background is always interesting, it always offers a nice break, and seeing them either younger or just off the court is always nice to build their personalities and offer more insight. And this time it was a very nice mix as well: hanging out in the lounge or in a private bedroom, training outside, training inside, a practice match, arguments/fights... And they even brought in some other side characters, which is always good. I could appreciate all those details for sure.

So ultimately I think I'm just a bit conflicted. The shift at first was a jarring, and then it shifted again - which I could easily settle into, only to have it shift again at the end. With a little timeskip too, like the match was just going on while we were busy reminiscing.

Never had the impression of Kenma and Tora despising each other before and to be honest, I couldn't care less now. Sorry but I was never a hardcore fan of Nekoma nor Kenma.

Kinda average episode overall. Extremely boring for most of the time and the decision of placing this story-line with Kenma and Tora right in the middle of Karasuno's match was quite odd, to say the least. Sadly, a huge step down after the fantastic Ryu-focused episode we got last week.

Don't get me wrong, i like the anime as a whole but they keep messing up with the flow of things by doing those unnecessary flashbacks no one asked for. The episode started strong and next thing you know it's a flashback. So annoying. And they did thesame thing in previous episode :|
