----------------------------------------
Episodes 6-10 were streamed on Netflix Japan on June 8th.

ehh, i don't know if the conclusion felt right. seemed a little too easy to fool a wealthy sheikh like that just by him being confused and running out the building
overall it was a pretty okay character arc for Abigail, the PTSDs and war backstory were alright. the next two cases will probably explore Laurent and Paula's past

Finished watching it a couple of hours ago, and I've got to say that I liked this case a lot better than the first. I wasn't expecting Abby's backstory but I'm glad we got it and that it got resolved giving her some development. The final scene with her and Edamura was pretty cute too.

This episode was absolutely classy. Got emotional for Abby and Luis just the same and seeing his wife be supportive the whole way through was great.

Abby finally dealt with her past and now she can move on. And damn that Laurent. He took a huge gamble there and it paid off. I liked the scene where Makoto and Abi jumped. Great episode.

Can't wait for more.

Abby had a real tragic past. To be able to live up to this moment, she really outdid herself.

Closing the Singapore chapter, Abby's interrogation of Luis...went quite straightforward. Thought she's gonna rip off someone's life, but luckily Makoto and his wife Isabelle saved him before Abby could make a horrendous move...even if by means of killing Luis, the pain is not so easily anguished.

Good that for the instance in Luis's piloting career, he still loves flying, but his disability stopping him, I'm glad his wife Isabella chose to support him every step of the way. Even if Clark was the sole factor that caused Luis's demise (and adding Abby's resentment), all feelings are still attached like a plague that doesn't have a healing solution.

And so, the final race of Abby vs. Clark. For Laurent's plan to succeed, Makoto's involvement is the essential and most important part. The TRUE race without any cheating and such, Luis (instead of Abby) vs Clark to end their truce, plus Laurent and the gang's disappearing act, ONCE AND FOR ALL.

The final verdict: Abby smiling, which is a great close.

At first, the LA chapter was a bit shaky, but the Singapore chapter really solidifies this series greatly. Holding my anticipation for the next country's arc.

This was really damn good with some unexpected twits.

I really didn't expect it was Luis himself who told Sam, nor did I expect Clark to be actually this 'swell dude.

That was quite the climax to end the case. The animators are really pulling it off with the plane racing. I couldn't tell how much of it was CGI, it looked fully 2D for the most part. I also liked how they used the same ending bit of the Carnival of Animals classical song that they did during Abby's ballet performance.

I'm kinda surprised Abby forgave Lewis so easily just from an apology. I mean, her life was ruined by that bombing Lewis partook in. Yet of course this case was meant to show Abby overcoming her trauma of her past so she can finally move on. She seems to have gotten over her deathwish now. My question is whether the anime is gonna push a romantic relationship btw her and Edaname. It be nice if their relationship stayed platonic, instead of going down the predictable route of becoming romantic.

It doesn't seem like it be in Abby's character to immediately fall in love with Edaname. But time and time again, it's typical in anime where a female character gets some character development through their own arc, only for their entire existence to become the romantic partner of the mc for the rest of the anime. SO I hope the writing does better than using that tired old trope.

The next case will be in London, and will also be a Cynthia arc. It's one episode shorter, but I don't think the first ep will need to be a setup episode like ep.1 was for the L.A. case, and ep.6 for the Singapore case. I'm guessing things will jump right into the London case.

A great end to this arc, I really liked the closing scene of both Edamura and Abbie. I started to like these two much more, but I still do not like Laurent that much, he is just a bit boring, while the rest of the cast is fun to have around.

7.5-8/10 for this arc. The art and animation is stunning and unique, and I love the soundtrack for this arc much more.

happy ending eh not for Sam though

and Edamura X Abby is real huh

looks like Edamuras quote of saying to fly in the sky you need to let go of all your regrets and worries worked wonders for Abby there

The song is called "Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saint-Saëns. The piece itself is over 20 mins long, but the bit they used in the anime is the very last segment of the song.

Edamura decides to give Luis a final, real shot at Clark. Giving them the closure they both needed. Meanwhile, Abby is trying to overcome demons from her past. I think she got over it a little too easy however, as a simple apology from the guy doesn't really seem suffice for something this significant. But she seemed to come around to Edamura as he forcefully took the leap with her.

So in the end all's well that ends well; Abby is moving on with her life, Clark and Luis had a real race, Luis is finally free from his burden, the gang is rich, and Sam is dirt poor. With everything they did though, they only came out of it with like 25 million or so from Sam, which seems really small compared to the first arc's scheme.

I liked this arc quite a bit, even more than the first. Although, this continued the trend of Laurent knowing exactly what Edamura is going to do and plan for it, which sort of feels like an asspull. Hopefully it bucks that trend next arc.

I like it, it continues to show what a small fish Edamura still is and how much he has to learn. A conman is an expert at reading others. Laurent can read Edamura like an open book. Edamura is the one who has to grow and learn from Laurent and the team.

I don't think she just got over it simply from the apology. We see her listening to Isabelle about how Luis really felt after the war was over and how much it haunted him just as it did her. I think knowing that, along with his apology helped her accept it.

A lot going on in this episode and this arc. It seems as though Edamura is going to keep getting soft at times an Laurent is going to have to bail him out. I don't mind it though because it shows how emotional he is. I like that.

I loved the episode but I feel this arc and its conclusion were inferior to the previous arc in the first five episodes. They fooled Sam that easily? I feel like Sam was a poorly written villain if he couldn't see through some of the bullshit.

Also, did Abby magically overcome her PTSD from a simple sorry? That's kind of bullshit. This series is pretty lighthearted despite its heisy-centered themes. However, they were doing an awesome job showing how PTSD affected Abby and now it's gone because someone apologized. Yikes.

It was enjoyable and it's nice to see Singapore as a setting in an anime. Hoping the next arc will trump this one.

Yeah I literally facepalmed. The show is fun, but it's pretty brainless. The moment you start to question the logic of a lot of passages I feel like the plot kinda falls apart.

Yeah this episode was the worst. Why even build a heavy background with trauma and PTSD for Abby if it's gonna be solved by some shitty "I'm sorry" from the terrorist who pretty much ruined her whole childhood. "Just doing my job" doesn't mean shit when you're bombing civilians, you chose to take that job. And the MC is so cringe, trying to get all smart and deep with Abby like NO! Please stop for a second to concider her background and how you don't understand shit about her pain and just don't try to spout some meaningless crap at her.

The story is so poorly written and the characters are even worse. Can't justify watching this just for the art/animation anymore.

Loved that episode, it was pretty well done especially Clark and Luis's race and the ost in that scene just enhanced it even more. Based Laurent with that backup plan, and Abby finally smiles. This case was definitely great and I hope the next one is just as good or even better.

I am absolutely baffled that this episode made it through the production process unscathed.

Everyone deals with trauma in different ways; far be it from me to dictate what is and is not an appropriate response to the man who murdered your family and countless other innocents, ruining your entire life in the process, giving you a half-baked apology. I will, however, absolutely judge whether or not Abby's response is an emotionally satisfying conclusion to her narrative arc.

It isn't.

When Luis started gloating about dropping the payload, I thought for certain that the whole thing was a lie, an obvious attempt to commit suicide by misdirected revenge. He wasn't stationed there, he wasn't responsible for that. How could he be? There's absolutely no freaking way he could come back from that as a sympathetic character! But, the narrative just kept going, expecting the audience to follow along without question. (Naturally, Edamura backs it up with some shallow "Live Laugh Love" inspiration fluff, "Fly like a bird and let go of your resentments, blah blah blah...")

Oh, sorry, excuse me... It was just orders! Oh, well that just makes everything better, doesn't it? The last time I checked, the whole "I was just following orders" bit doesn't really hold up in court. Good point, though! It wasn't just one rouge monster that murdered Abby's family; it was a long, twisting chain of military officials and politicians that has not been held meaningfully accountable for its crimes.

How can Abby possibly be satisfied with this? How can this joke of an "apology" possibly bring her anything approaching peace or closure?

And Luis gets rewarded for it! He gets to fly again, despite having done absolutely nothing to make reparations for what he did. Freaking ridiculous!

Yup I agree this arc was bit better than the first with less overreliance of guessing game. Still regardless I am very surprised how the show has been playing everything very safe so far.

Also is it me saying that there is barely any animation in this arc and most of the runtime fills with zooms and panning shots? Its disappointing. Those flights animation looked thrilling at first but being overused at different angles so it was watching same thing over and over.

So basically, she was blaming a single guy for all the stuff his country made him do. If that´s not stupid then I don´t know what it is. God damn, soldiers are just mindless slaves to be honest, they are just blinded by the pretty words of freedom and treated as heroes for the stuff their politicians and bosses just told them to do.

Besides that, what a boring arc. Now it´s obvious they will magically have every single step planned and they will always get out with murder, even hurting innocent people that have nothing to do with them, all of that with a smug on their faces, and Edamura giving the typical MC speeches. It has been long since I see a series where I hate every single character.

Great ending to the arc. I was nervous for Abby and Edamura as I thought they lose a lot of money for the con guys, good thing Laurent is always a several steps ahead of his game. Great they still able to swindle from that bastard prince lmao.

As for Abby’s anger towards Luis yeah it may sound stupid because they are at war and it is not your enemy’s fault if your comrades died however for Abby or anyone who’s been to war and might have a PTSD anyone is to blame especially enemies.

🥺

I think the climax was good. How they ultimately conned Sam by fooling him into thinking the winning party lost and vice versa; and how they changed the firework color on the window; and how Lewis and Clark (was this a deliberate reference btw?) got to settle their score in a wholesome manner; and ultimately how Sam returned to the gambling joint, and how Eda and Abby parachuted out of a window avoiding his gunshots. It was all just an epic display with justified quick pacing. You really get caught up in the rush of things when the anime is executed well.

Also, the people debating on PTSD and morality/ethics in the military are overthinking everything. This arc/episode handled the issues just fine, and did a decent job utilizing every aspect for a short five-episode arc.

Good ending to close off a pretty good arc, especially with that awesome Makoto Hollywood-like move in the end, carrying Abigail and jumping off a building to escape the gunfire from Sam in another building who got got really hard by Laurent with the fake race results being displayed to outwit him. Her having her arc wrapped up with Lewis and even having a laugh with what Makoto did in the end felt satisfying to watch.

As a case, I'd say its solid but not spectacular. I feel like the Abigal stuff definitely overshadowed the actual objective of the case with making money off of Prince Sam Ibrahim. It all worked out but it didn't feel quite as exciting as the Abigail characterization or the actual races themselves and how it was animated. Still, I was never really bored by it and there was enough good content overall for me to call it a solid 7/10 arc as a whole. Makoto had a lot of the spotlight in this arc and put it to good use as the mechanic/con-man as well as the guy who tried to help Abigail out when she was blind to her hatred and trusted no one. Looks like he finally earned some small degree of trust from her with that stint at the end.

I feel like the first arc set the bar pretty high for the series and this one didn't come as close to giving me the same excitement, intrigue, and suspense that the first arc did. It was still personally enjoyable because I like air racing and we got to delve a little into Abby's backstory which gave us clarity to why she is the way she is.

Louis wasn't a very interesting character. Just the typical begrudged, disabled veteran type. His involvement in the story only seemed to serve as a launching off point for Abby's past. I also can't say I'm a fan of Makoto's character. For someone that supposedly scammed people on the daily without a shred of remorse, he's portrayed as the typical "fish out of water" character that gets nervous at the drop of a hat and isn't comfortable with most of the situations he's thrust into, despite those situations being familiar territory. I understand that he's more used to scamming regular civilians vs. the moguls Laurent and his crew put themselves up against, but he should still have some semblance of expertise and complacency.

Kinda unsatisfying arc as a whole. Very forgettable.

It didn't have the thrill of the first arc or the same amount of involvement to me.

Little unpredictable but not satisfying enough though.

Of course Laurent had everything under control once again. This dude has some L/Light levels of anticipation, I swear.

As for Sam, at first he seemed kinda promising as antagonist but sadly, his character got dumber and dumber as the arc progressed.

I don't know, man. These last two episodes felt kinda messy with the addition of Lewis's background and his direct relation to Abby's past as the one who dropped the bomb that killed her parents. Still a somewhat decent conclusion for this arc and hopefully, Abby will start acting less like a jerk towards Makoto from now on.

Abby/Singapore arc was good, I think Luis and Abby last scene wasn't sincere or impactful as i expected. A simple apology? Really? That's the only issue I have, everything was pretty good. I liked Sam more than Cassano as an antagonist and the ending is something different at least.

Well shit. Thought this arc would last one more episode. So seems like Makoto was supposed to put the pill in Abby's plane to make sure she would lose and hence the tinted windows and fake footage to trick Sam into thinking she actually won. But Makoto said fuck it and gave army man a chance to have a fair race so didn't use the pill. Still I guess they were covered either way because of the tinted windows and such. I think that's what happened anyway. Not sure why else Makoto was given the pill if they were gonna add this extra insurance of fake footage anyway.
