I kinda like this new glasses woman. She has a straightforward personality and seems to get along with two girls.

The journey has them doing some maintence on their vechicle. Nice to see them take a photo for memories. As usual, I love the style of the music used in this anime. It's very fitting and works well for the show overall.

While trying to move from a decaying place might make sense, she has no guarantee that where she'll end up with the plane will have resources to keep her alive. But she has a point, since staying there would equal to dying with the city.

After a much quiter previous ep, this one was very enjoyable. Seeing how other people stay alive in this post-apocaliptic world and how they cope with depression inducing solitude is interesting.

When the plane broke I felt so bad for her, but she took it better than I thought. Getting along with the feeling of despair sounds so sad; but it's probably what all the survivors of this world are trying to deal with.
Wonder if she'll find something else to work on.

Great episode.

I really liked Ishii, she's got a point there by saying that staying in a decaying city is equal to just dying with it so it's worth taking a chance to go somewhere else.

It was pretty nice watching the girls work on the airplane.

Yuuri with the Zetsubou song was gold. xD

Seeing the plane take off was a great moment, I was smiling as it took off but when it broke down in mid air, I was heartbroken. I'm glad that Ishii survived at the least. Good Luck to her in whatever she decides to do next.

Got to meet another person in this episode. She's been working on a plane for a really long time. It was nice to see the girls help her work on it. She also fixed their vehicle. I knew the plane was going to break apart the moment she's in the air, but she was okay to accept failure and move on. I wish her luck on her future endeavors.

Wow, didn't think they'd spent that much time in the plane building sequence...but it's all good.

They met Ishii, the second human being. I like Ishii... And, for a few seconds when I thought Ishii had died, my heart sank.

Hi everyone! 1st ever post! Ehh... I felt like there was so much to say about this episode that I just had to write one. (LONG POST INCOMING)

From the start, there was an instant contrast between Chi and Yuu's approaches to hopelessness, which was super interesting imo. Actually throughout the episode, Yuuri's singing was basically repeating the word 'hopeless'. She seemed like the type that wanted to just go with it. Whereas Chi was scratching her head, looking for a way out of the 'hopeless' situation.

And then! They met Ishii. 'True hopelessness is not having anywhere to go' was something she said that pricked my ears a little. Interesting. Sounds like hope right? Exactly. And all the more, Ishii wanted to reach the other side of the shore because of the glimpse she caught, which imo translated to her hope. 'Staying in the dying city is equal to dying' was also very interesting. So much depth to the conversations.

And to me, the real bombshell happened in the end. Where after Ishii had safely (and thankfully) ejected out of her crashing plane, Yuu mentions that maybe she had accepted the hopelessness. While falling, Ishii says something like 'I feel so carefree. Maybe this way, I will get to the bottom'. What does it mean to you? I think that was actually pretty dark. Alluding to failure in the image/outlook of accepting failure and moving on. :o (my interpretation)

I love this anime 9/10 or 10/10. Hidden nuggets of thoughts everywhere. To me, there are so many ways to interpret it. Whether the creators intended for that, I don't know. And obviously, I am giving too much thought to it. But I enjoy it and think that this show is philosophical genius/madness.

This episode had me in tears more so than Inuyashiki does.

It's awesome to see animes that can get you to sympathize with and be devastated by the situations occurring at the time all in one episode.

The atmosphere of this anime is super nice.

I thought the exact same thing about the ending. If you don't fail you won't know if you ever achieved anything. Also if you have to fall to the ''lowest'' level in order to go to a ''higher'' level.

Kinda funny that the two people they met almost died because of their projects.

Been living through this process for the past two years. This show has a surprisingly healthy take on depression and picking up the pieces.

This episode is so far my favourite, mostly because it's the one episode I relate to the most.

This episode really wants you to see it's theme; hopelessness and coping with it. For people who have depression, this episode-- no, this whole series-- has this very light undertone that shows themes of depression. It's one of those animes that you can relate to indirectly, making this one of my favourite episodes. Ishii is a really good character, and when the plane broke, Ishii found some kind of happiness from it. I understand a lot of the themes that are incorporated in to this anime. Life has its highs and lows.

So far, this show is a 10/10 for me.

I knew it was too good to be true when it looked like Ishii was going to successfully make it out of there. I'm sad that she didn't succeed, but she seemed to take it well so that's good. Overall it was nice to see another new person in this world other than the girls and Kanazawa from a few episodes ago, and the interactions between the 3 of them were fun to watch.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Yuu becomes one of my favourite characters with every passing episode. The song was awesome

I've felt the hopelessness when the airplane broke down but it's nice that Ishii's safe. Though tough tşmes are waiting for her without food or transport it's gonna get hard to get by. Especially as a person thinking not having anywhere to go is real hopelessness. Also correct me if I'm wrong but as they go higher more machine works and overall living condition is better so life would be harsher on lower levels.

Chi and Yuu found another person again, their dialogue could be a foreshadowing that they might encounter a person who isn't well disposed towards them.

Kinda sad that the plane everyone worked so hard on didn't make the distance, but after one has gave his best and failed it can still be a huge relief.

Honestly, when will be the OP and ED gonna be available on iTunes? :/

Chi and Yuuri's Kettenkrad (now I know its name dang) was broken, and they met a new character and her name is Ishii, and she's building an airplane to travel to another city. And since Chi asked her to help her fix their Kettenkrad, in one condition they have to help her build an airplane.

Jesus Christ when the airplane broke into pieces together, I FREAKING SCREAMED SO LOUD, but I somehow saw it coming because freaking shows with this kind of animation or characters design is so hard to trust nowadays especially after Made In Abyss. But ohmygod I'm so happy Ishii-san is safe. Almost forgot parachute is a thing. Forgodsake. I hope she'll be okay since she's falling and she'll most likely ended up to the lowest level. Lmao.

When will these two end up having another companion who they'll be together for like 2 days or more? Remembering Kanazawa-san, I hope he's doing okay, too.

Now, Chi and Yuuri are gonna travel to the west for the potato rations. Hehe.

Such a good and terrifying episode (that freaking airplane). Loved this episode, as always.

It's weird to say it when Chito and Yuuri ran into another person again and got a decent restock of food because of it, but this felt to me like the most bleak episode so far: Ishii's fantasy about flying her plane to the other city, presumably in hopes of a better life, really made it hit home just how little there truly is left. And Chito's comment of "You may be the last pilot in human history" made it hit home all the more. Plus, the whole thing of just accepting failure was pretty damn gloomy as well, especially when giving up in their world is tantamount to dying.

Excellent episode, despite having - to me, at least - a much more bleak atmosphere than anything else so far in this show.

I so want to know what happened. Especially since, these kids have been wandering since that war...but the cities been dead hundreds if not thousands of years, are these kids really old, or was it just a small scale war over resources, or whats going on, I so want to know more.

But I will admit the best part of this episode for me, was seeing the city from the air and getting a view of what it looks like rather then just a slice.

This was a really powerful episode, mainly due to the many mentions of how hopelessness really sinks in when the world is in a state like it is in this show.

It was nice to see Yuuri and Chito encounter Ishii. She helped the girls repair the Kettenkrad by finding a new flywheel for the engine. In exchange for Ishii helping out, the girls helped Ishii in building her grand project, which was a plane, which she hoped she would use to travel to the far-off city in the distance.

Seeing the three of them work hard in building the plane was pretty epic. Same goes for the take-off sequence, but sadly, the plane completely fell apart during its flight. I was worried at first, but thankfully, Ishii is okay, but despite the fact that her parachute is sending her to the lower levels of the city, she tool the feeling of hopelessness and failure really well. In dire times like these, staying strong and focusing on surviving everyday with the limited rations would he hard for a lot of people, but Ishii won't give up on her main goal, so I hope she succeeds one day. =)

This maybe the best episode so far. I'm hoping that the next 6 episodes will be memorable and funny, but also reminding us about the bleakness of their world and the daily struggle to survive.

Yurii and Chito's motorcycle car was broken but hopefully the woman with eyeglasses helped them to fix it but the two girls also helped the woman named Ishii to fix her plane in exchange for everything. When Ishii's piloting her plane, the parts suddenly fell by one another. I thought she died but I was wrong, she used parachute to save herself. I like this episode, they told us about hopelessness but it doesn't matter, we should keep striving harder. We still have a chance to change ourselves for the better. Speaking of that, I feel relaxed once again after watching this episode.

Yuu really is carefree while Chi worries about everything else. So they find another fellow human on this level then. They were really lucky to encounter an inventor though. Using an old air base thats located underground as a home sure is smart. So her ultimate wish was to finish a plane that can carry her out of the city. Thats a lot of blueprints that were housed at the base though. With the addition of Chi and Yuu the progress on the plane sure become swifter. In the end looks like they managed to fix the truck and finish the plane too so the deal was mutually beneficial for both. The music for this series really is beautiful though. Too bad that the plane fell apart though. The hopeless song that Yuu sings sure is catchy. But this was a relatively relaxed episode though. I kinda liked this inventor though and hope that she returns.

Yeah, this show is the best of the season (if we ignore 3-gatsu S2).

Hopelessness needs to be embraced in this world, Yuu has this mindset for the whole journey no matter what happens. Make the best out of your situation and make sure you keep moving in a dead world so you don't succumb to the hopelessness around and fall in complete despair.

Ishii tries her best as well, she wants to move out of the city in order to feel alive. She worked on a plane, the time she worked must have been agonizing. Trying to feel alive by doing SOMETHING.

The moment when the flight arrived was super cathartic, really had me thinking in my chair and being really calm. I almost wanted to hit something when her plane broke.

She took it well, she can say that she tried. That's why her failure won't throw her in complete hopelessness, instead she's relieved.

I had a feeling the plane might crash, but didn't think it would just randomly fall to pieces. It was quite a shock. There is so much deep and meaningful dialogue in this anime, with just the right amount of humour to balance it all out. I love how Yuuri brings light to these dark situations.

Well that was something... a lot more substantial than last week's episode.

When a single episode elevates an entire show to a different level, this is what that episode looks like.

That whole sequence with the plane's first flight really said a lot about what kind of show it's trying to be, and I appreciate that it's not a straightforward one to categorize.

I was thinking "man what if the plane broke" when it took off and damn it did go wrong, but hey Ishii isn't dead so there is that lol. But now that Ishii is falling towards the lowest level, which would be the ground floor, wouldn't that mean she'd be level with the ocean? So theoretically she could build a boat to get her across to the next city, which i imagine is maybe a bit easier than building a plane. Only problem is that it'd be a lot slower, so supplies would be hard, but hey food for thought lol, I like to think that not all is as lost as the characters seem to think. Good episode though. So far i seem to find it most interesting when they encounter others, changes up the status quo for Yuuri and Chito's wandering.

I have mixed feelings about this episode.

It's the darkest, and twisted, because of just how Nihilistic it is, the way the characters cheerfully accept their failures. I get the feeling that Nihilism will be (or already is) a recurring theme in this anime: like it's saying how many of our efforts are pointless, yet we should still remain optimistic, like the map guy: pretty f*cked up, but definitely realistic.

But on the other hand, Girls' Last Tour is the least interesting when it actually has a plot: I find this series so much more fascinating and unconventional when it's JUST Chito and Yuuri exploring somewhere new. There isn't really any substance in this episode: most of it is just the characters...fixing an airplane.

If she ends up near the sea and builds a boat to go across, can she technically go fishing for food? Hopefully the humans of the pre-apocalypse haven't eaten up all the fish in the sea.

I also kinda had a hunch that the plane was going to crash or something along those lines. And what do you know, it literally broke apart in mid air, lol.
To be or not to be... that is not the question. ;3
