Nice to get some back story on Ginko. Knew we'd have to cover that lost eye at some point, and I guess about half way through was a good a point as any.

Sometimes, character development can make the diference between a good or bad anime (at least to me) =P
And yeah, some stories are really touching.

Yey! Ginko's character development! Finally! I wanna know more about him. Come on! He's the only main character, and yet we would want to know about him. Hahah! It's already a given! ^__^

so first impressions of this episode "omg its a female ginko!!" lol
and then i kinda put two and two together..but still it's good to see how ginko ended up the way he is.
though that still doesn't explain why his clothes are modern compared to everyone elses =S lol
and no one ever asks him about his hair and eyes.
great episode though =] maybe later one we'll find out why ginko's friend is obsessed with collecting mushi objects?
ginko's name is interesting too =]

YES!! Finally!! Ginko's past!!! ^^

Even though it was sad... and the female Ginko person (Nui?) was like a Ginko replica.... well I guess Ginko is the replica kind of cause he came next but.... anyways... I was waiting for an episode with Ginko's past in it!!! *satisfied* =3

Sig WILL change soon~

Don't want to spoil a lot since I accidentally saw one the later episodes but they're are more episodes about his origins. I hope I'm not the only one who only knew it was Ginko until the end of the episode lol.

Lol, at first I thought Nui was Ginko for some reason, but I caught on after a while.

Anyway, amazing episode. Nice to see why Ginko has only one eye, why he smokes, and why he travels around.

Me too. Although I don't really get the connection between the Tokoyami and the Ginko. And does this mean that Ginko will eventually lose his other eye too and disappear like Nui?

It's so sad that Ginko doesn't even remember Nui, or how he lost his eye and haircolor...

I don't think Ginko will eventually lose his other eye and become Tokoyama; something about that he hadn't been there that long, and he kept his other eye closed when the mushi Ginko approached him.

At least I hope not; a depressing ending foreshadowed this early one would suck. D:

I didn't even realize Nui Was female until she said she had a husband. I realized this was backstory when she said the fishes name was Ginko.

I like character development so good episode. Like some other people I don't think I totally understood the mushi in the pond.

Lost my mind and grammar...

Amazing episode! When I saw Nui I thought she was a friend of Ginko or something like that and something happened to them so they miss one eye, and I had the idea that one of them lost both eyes and the other one gave him somehow one of his, since as soon as I saw Nui I noticed she misses her right eye, and Ginko misses his left... :P Haha seems like I have quite the imagination ^^''

Now we see how Ginko came to be.
Anyway, Ginko's past was kinda sad though he can't remember Nui or even his mother.
Also, the smoking thing was made cleared. :)

This was utterly fantastic. I can’t describe in words how amazing it is.
Finally getting Ginko’s awaited back-story is one thing, but having it in such a beautifully executed way, unique and engaging… It has to be Mushishi, to reach this level of perfection. It’s flawless.

My favorite episode, without an ounce of doubt.
I think, then procrastinate.

When I saw that woman I first assumed it was like Ginkos sister or mom. Very interesting episode. I'm not sure how exactly to explain this series but the english dub voices are quite relaxing and something about the series soothes me.
