THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Yes, Rin! I miss her! She's my favorite in the series and nice to see her back. Oh, I see some development between Asuka and Haruto. Shit, they almost kissed. That moment was awkward though imo. Haruto and Rin moments were my favorites scene this episode though. |

I cannot believe how much they skipped. This anime is literally all over the place. |

It was meh. Didn't know Asuka was his gf already. And they already graduated from high school? The series is confusing pace-wise: sometimes flashback, sometimes move forward very fast. |

This anime seriously does not do the manga any justice. I seriously recommend anyone watching this to read the original manga because the anime is literally all over the place, rushing and slowing on random scenes, and practically skimming over the first third of the series (not even covering a tenth of it). I appreciate that the manga is recognized enough to receive another anime adaption, but at least they should have started from the beginning, which in my opinion is much better than the Tokyo Arc. |

In the manga, there is a one and a half year time skip, but only AFTER Asuka and Haruto start dating. Then it goes strait to starting college. As suspected, they are skipping the "Mangaka" character entirely. The main purpose of that character is to add tension between Asuka and Haruto. Their relationship is pretty much a sequence of total screw-ups by Haruto where he looks like he is cheating on her but isn't, with Asuka constantly saying, "It's OK. I trust you." EDIT: I guess what I'm trying to say is that time skips are par for the course with Kimi Machi. Heck, in one of the most recent chapters he skipped from somewhere around September or October to February. The only thing the anime missed is how Haruto and Asuka got together. If you haven't read the manga and want to know, I'll put it in spoilers here: With winter break approaching and his prospects of a relationship with Yuzuki depleted from slim to none, Asuka asks Haruto what his plans for the future are. He says that, even though he has always said he wants to be a chef, he really doesn't know how to even go about doing it. She suggests that, since he doesn't have any concrete plans, they could go to the same college. He could study business or restaurant management and learn the money side of things. He wonders if he can really become a chef that way. She says she thinks he can, plus, she would like to be at the same college as him, because she likes him. Yes, that was a confession, though she softens it by saying, "Yeah... In a lot of ways." Soon the snow starts and Asuka is really exited. Haruto is about as excited about snow as Anakin Skywalker is about sand, telling Asuka that it snows a ton in Hiroshima and it only means having to shovel piles of the stuff to him. She doesn't believe there is that much snow there, but he insists. As they are approaching winter break, the two are visiting with Kiyomi at a cafe. She asks what their plans for break are. Asuka says she'll probably just stay in Tokyo, since her home is close by and she can go visit anytime. She would just be bored at home. Haruto says he his going home to Hiroshima. Asuka comments on how nice all that snow must be then she gets a call from family and while she is away talking on the phone Kiyomi asks Haruto why he doesn't just invite Asuka to come with him to Hiroshima? After all, she is practically begging him to take her and she has already told you she likes you, right? Haruto wonders how she knows that and she says it is obvious. The only reason he doesn't notice is that he is head over heals for her. He confirms to Kiyomi that he does like Asuka but... Kiyomi wonders if it is Yuzuki that is in the way. He explains how Yuzuki told him she didn't want to see him anymore and says that he is sure he wouldn't have been able to change her mind and he also realized that he just doesn't love her as much as he used to. But, at the same time, he isn't really ready to date anyone right now. Kiyomi tells him it is really scary for Asuka right now, scared that she might say or do something that will ruin their relationship because of how she feels about him. She worries that they may not even be able to stay friends. On the way home, he asks Asuka if she wants to go to Hiroshima with him and blurts out that Kiyomi is going too. (She is a bit annoyed by that, but ends up having a great time and meeting Takashi, who she eventually starts dating.) While in Hiroshima, it becomes clear that Haruto does really have feelings for her, to everyone but Asuka. She tells Haruto that she has rethought things and thinks that maybe they shouldn't go to the same college. She tells him that she has liked him ever since they first met and ever since she told him, even as a joke, she is more and more aware of him. So much that she can't even sleep. She doesn't think she would be able to handle going to college with him at this point. It is hard even being with him now! He then hugs her. She pushes him away and asks WTF that was about. Is he teasing her? He says no, it's just that she is so cute and he's been seriously thinking that he wants to go out with her. When it is time for Kiyomi and Akuka to go back to Tokyo, Haruto is obviously wanting to go with them, but wants to spend time with his friends too. Deciding for him, Takashi shoves him onto the bus and tells him they'll send his luggage later. Naname tells him to take care, and says "You can't let this one get away, okay?" Asuka overheard that and asks what it is about when they get to Tokyo and he says she doesn't have to worry. "I won't let go of you..." On New Years, the new couple takes a trip to Kazama's grave to tell their best friend that they are now dating. It is one of the sweetest chapters of the manga. The next chapter they are starting college, with all of his buddies from Hiroshima coming to Tokyo to go to the same college along with Haruto, Asuka, and Kiyomi. (To make it clear, Takashi is coming to college there to chase after Kiyomi, who he fell head over heals for, but hasn't convinced to date him yet. Nanami, even though she knows Haruto is dating Asuka, came there thinking that they may have a chance if anything happens between the two to break them up. Akari is actually there for the same reason, though we don't find that out for a long time.) That is pretty much the point at which the anime picks up the story. |

Rushed as fuck, thank god I read the manga first, compared with the manga, the anime looks like a poor summarized version. You can't build feelings for the characters because everything in the story is too much rushed. I'm just watching this for the sole purpose to see the characters being animated and fully voiced (like the danganronpa anime version). |

And we all know this anime has a lot of them |

WHAT? I almost went back to episode 7 to see how they animated the scene where they officially become a couple - then I realized ... this is rushed. They probably will animate it during the break up though... Anyways, I liked it - |

:| Didn't even show Haruto's response to Asuka... :/ If they were going to show the confession in a flashback literally about a minute after the episode started then they might as well just put it first instead of jumping around... |

So, is this anime supposed to be a longer version of http://myanimelist.net/anime/11313/Kimi_no_Iru_Machi ? I mean I watched that one some time ago, but yes I felt like this one is a little rushed, and I haven't even read the manga. |

I mean I watched that one some time ago, but yes I felt like this one is a little rushed, and I haven't even read the manga. If I were you, I would definitely read the manga. It is probably the best shounen romance manga I have ever read... The OVA tells the story of what happens when they are in the LDR and they try to see each other during Haruto's class trip to Tokyo. It uses the same type of flash-back system to tell the back story and is just as badly rushed as the TV anime. I keep wondering if they will even cover that part of the manga this time around, since they redid much of the early manga that they did in flashbacks for the OVA (better in the TV anime in my opinion. I don't know if I would have known what was going on in the OVA if I hadn't read the manga...) The time skip in this case is actually in the manga. The only thing they skipped is the trip to Hiroshima where Haruto actually accepts her feelings and asks her to date him and the early days of college when Haruto was a complete idiot and Asuka kept telling him that the stupid things he did were fine because she trusts him. When you think about it, if they covered that part completely, it would take about an episode and a half before you saw Yuzuki again, and that would seem odd since she is the main female character. I understand why they did it and the parts they left out in the early college arc are, frankly, some of my least favorite parts of the manga. One can only take so much of Asuka looking like a doormat and Haruto looking like a complete idiot. The fact that he is still doing that in the current arc in the manga is maddening. |

Favorite parts of the manga are when they're in college. Can't wait to see people's reactions to events. Have a feeling I know where they're going to end the anime if they skipped the Asuka chapters Rin you troll :P |

Wat. What is going on...I don't understand. It's like forced drama after forced drama. I thought this would be better but none of it seems to flow. Haruto himself doesn't know what he wants and he's willing to throw away what he has with Asuka because of chiding from Rin? I'm honestly considering putting the manga on hold to read other things. |

Theres too much of an uneven pacing in this anime. Unless you don't see time as a form of line, this is utterly confusing at times. Still, in this episode, I liked the Rin parts the most, with the Asuka moments feeling weird. Eba's appearance somewhat surprised me, and the following scenes make me think Haruto still has a thing for her. Rin really knows how to manipulate people, and Haruto literally fell for it. I swear to god at the end I thought I was watching some porn video, and not "Kimi no Iru Machi". I wish it was still vacation for me, so I could go and just read the manga where the time gap is. |

F*cking Haruto and f*cking Rin, One is so stupid and the other is a bitch. Haruto better not mess things up with the best girl Asuka. I can see that Yuzuki still has feelings for Haruto and vice-versa, whom Haruto ends up with doesn't really matter because i like both Asuka and Yuzuki, but Asuka a bit more |

As angry as I am with this fast pacing and we're smacked in the face with them all of a sudden being in college ... I ....REALLY dont feel like reading the manga's 200 chapters T.T Thats just pure laziness on my behalf T o T |

i think another company should remake this series from the very beginning as the anime is not even close to being as dramatic and rage inducing as the manga is(i like rage inducing and dramatic moments).i understand that starting in tokyo is more interesting but starting from the very beginning wouldve been much better as viewers dont have to read the manga to understand whats actually happening and would make the show longer as the manga is updating weekly and i doubt it wouldve caught up if it started from the beginning(unless they skipped a lot like the anime currently does). but now to talk about the episode. wow why did they skip the part where haruto and asuka develop feelings for each other.in the manga it was so cute when they were trying to hide it from everyone back in hiroshima that they were dating.i recommend reading the part after eba says that she cant see haruto anymore as it shows more development from haruto, asuka, and other characters(start from chapter 102).also the scene in the manga where nanami is trying to find out if haruto likes asuka or not was also good and wasnt included since she liked him,but couldnt tell him because he liked asuka.i really hope the anime company doesnt rush this arc as it is one of the most rage inducing moments in the manga so far in my opinion |

Haven't read the manga, I know how manga readers can be, so it's not surprising that this is disliked so much. Anyhow, I love the classic romance drama. There hasn't been one of these all year. You could count Sakurasou, or Hentai Ouji, or even Servant x Service for romance. But, none of them were more realistic. This isn't nearly as good as Nana though. |

Akari is actually there for the same reason, though we don't find that out for a long time.) That is pretty much the point at which the anime picks up the story. im liking it so far, with all the flashbacks mentioned, i think they might show how Asuka and Haruto got together. just like how they showed how Eba and Haruto met, even when the anime started where he's chasing after her in Tokyo i think the manga fans need to chill out a bit. they might show the skipped year and half in flashbacks. And we all know this anime has a lot of them I think you missed my point. That year and a half is skipped in the manga! The only thing skipped in the anime, other than some side story stuff that the anime is better without, IMO, is the trip to Hiroshima where Haruto actually give Asuka an answer and a New Years grave visit where they "tell Kazama" that they are dating. The manga then skips to the first day of college. In other words, this isn't as big of a deal as most people are making it. The time skip is part of the manga. mrbakchoi888 said: i think another company should remake this series from the very beginning as the anime is not even close to being as dramatic and rage inducing as the manga is(i like rage inducing and dramatic moments).i understand that starting in tokyo is more interesting but starting from the very beginning wouldve been much better as viewers dont have to read the manga to understand whats actually happening and would make the show longer as the manga is updating weekly and i doubt it wouldve caught up if it started from the beginning(unless they skipped a lot like the anime currently does). but now to talk about the episode. wow why did they skip the part where haruto and asuka develop feelings for each other.in the manga it was so cute when they were trying to hide it from everyone back in hiroshima that they were dating.i recommend reading the part after eba says that she cant see haruto anymore as it shows more development from haruto, asuka, and other characters(start from chapter 102).also the scene in the manga where nanami is trying to find out if haruto likes asuka or not was also good and wasnt included since she liked him,but couldnt tell him because he liked asuka.i really hope the anime company doesnt rush this arc as it is one of the most rage inducing moments in the manga so far in my opinion From what I read, it was the mangaka's decision to start with the Tokyo arc and do the earlier stuff as flashbacks. What I heard was that he considers that arc to be the "most important" part of the manga and he was afraid it would take to long to get to it if they started from the beginning. To tell you the truth, if they covered the entire manga from the beginning, it would take at least 8 or nine episodes to get to the Tokyo arc and, as much as I love the manga, the vast majority of anime watchers that are not familiar with the manga would write it off as a standard rom-com and drop it before it got to the part that really sets it apart from other shounen romances, which is the Tokyo arc and the part that is coming up in the next few episodes. I think the reaction to episode 4 shows that the mangaka was right. Up to that point, the majority of comments I saw on boards were things like, "ho hum", "Standard rom-com stuff", "Pretty boring", etc... When episode 4 came around, people started saying things like, "Wow! This is gettin' good!", "Didn't see that coming", and "Ouch, that's gotta hurt!" It was a total game changer. If that episode happened at episode 10 instead of 4, the show would have lost a lot of people... But that is just my opinion... |

As someone who hasn't touched the manga, I'm having no difficulty with the pacing. Given that they're almost certainly only ever going to have a single cour to tell the story, I don't think they're really doing anything wrong. I don't need to know how the Haruto/Asuka relationship started. Those seeds were planted ages ago. That being said... Oh no it's a blind group date I wonder who the date could be I certainly hope it isn't Eba that would be weird and awkward and highly unlikely oh no it's Eba totally didn't see that one coming what a crazy random happenstance there goes Haruto's perfectly stable relationship. This series... |

so much to talk about this episode, lets see so after he moves all the way to Tokyo and he waits for her boyfriend to die, she says no and he forgets her, wow then after year and a half she asks him for email or something, that would be **** off and what was that at the end, "I challange you to a date!", yeah right, wouldnt even pick up that phone after seeing Asuka after shower, let alone bother with some brat |

Does anyone else think Eba is a cow? He leaves his whole life to come to Tokyo to get her back, she rejects him which is shit enough but then plays off their whole relationship by saying he's her ex-boyfriends friend? She was everything to him and she doesn't even care. What a bitch. |

Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances. He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter. Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga. Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month. Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel. The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck. |

I wasn't that excited to watch this episode, especially what happened previously (left a bad taste in my mouth) but I was thoroughly impressed with the pacing here. I liked that they timeskipped over any unnecessary parts and moved on with the story. That little sister is pretty annoying tbh. Too flirty for my liking. :/ |
