I wasn't sure about RPG games, I don't play much myself. The only one online game that got me hooked was Maple Story but I've stopped playing it long ago.

Well I wanted to watch Monster and LoGH too, but I haven't started on them yet, not planning to anytime soon, but it's not because of the length. I need some time free to watch them all in one go if possible. You can watch Gintama one episode one day, it's mostly episodic so there is no worry of forgetting the storyline or something.. Gintoki aka Gin-san (protagonist of Gintama) is one of the best characters ever created up until now. :)

Well I've been spoiled of some twist, but I've forgotten who died, I only know "a certain being" betrayed them. The animation and story should be good, but the art is quite bad, can't get used to it.

I also love character driven anime (in some case), but I don't see what's so appealing about the characters in Madoka Magica. I might be wrong though.

Hmm Log Horizon is heavily based on VMMORPG, there are guilds, bad people who are playing smart, but not much leveling or collecting item or farming. It's mostly saving people for now, and there were PK matches too. It's different from SAO. LH doesn't have overly OP protagonist or overly weak female character, they're quite balanced out.

You should give Non Non Biyori a try, from what I know, it surprised a lot of people that tried watching it. The art is great and they have at least decent animation. Maybe try to watch the first episode?

As for Nagi no Asukara, haha have to agree with you, but I want to see how they'll solve their problem, with the whole sea people and land people, and the final coupling..

I don't really care if Uchuu Kyoudai is slow paced, I mean, even with slow pace, with great OST/BGM that brings out the FEELS, it's fine imho. I've heard some of the OST, they're pretty powerful in a sense. ^^ My only wish is for the anime to have a conclusive ending, but I am not sure if it will get one ~.~

The great thing about Monogatari is the dialogue, I don't particularly like any of the characters, and the plot isn't anything special, but I hope those dialogues won't feel forced when I get onto it and start watching.

Oh and won't you try watching Gintama? It's similar to Sket Dance in a sense and they even had crossovers.

Haha I do understand where you're coming from, but I grew to like Mihashi over the course of series XD Yes best thing about Ookiku is the game, it's wonderful, and many people think that the author played baseball herself too, iirc it was confirmed somewhere that she played softball back in highschool/college. Well, it's been a while since I've seen Ookiku Furikabutte (recently re-watched s1), but as far as I remember, season 2 has more character development and better game, I think..

Red hair chick? Morgiana? Lol she's not the one with Sinbad. Ren Kougyoku was the one with Sinbad, the princess of Kou empire, red hair, with a water djinn. I like Kougyoku much more than Morgiana, and I love Sinbad XD

Hmm I've seen 1-2 episodes of Madoka, while the story did not bore me, it did not interest me neither, thus I've been putting it on hold for quite a long time, and the art was really bugging me.. I'll pick up Mawaru then if you say so, but only after my exam, only by then that I could marathon the show.

Haha I was secondarily after the boobs too lol but primarily I was watching for the action, it was pretty decent.

Every time into a new season, I'll always be hyped up for the upcoming anime, but it's always disappointing. I agree with Yowamushi, ars nova, samumenco, golden time, haven't seen gingitsune and diamond no ace yet, but I'll probably come to like them too, and while I am at it, there are a few more that caught my interest as well like Log Horizon, Non Non Biyori and Nagi no Asukara.

I like Log Horizon for how it depicted VMMORPG so accurately, and they're fighting based on strategy and no hax system/technique, but it is not perfect.

Non Non Biyori is pretty enjoyable as a SoL, the characters are all funny.

Nagi no Asukara, well it started out very well, until episode 4. Episode 5 & 6 somehow feels kinda wrong, well they're still okay, but I am not getting the feel yet >.>

I'd like to start watching Uchuu Kyoudai too after all the praises it got, and I heard that it's really inspiring ^^ I like those anime. As for Monogatari, I'll start that soon too, but for some reason I am not much into it, even though I liked Bakemonogatari.

P.S. I was just done with Magi s1, all I can say is, I am disappointed.

Well it sure did became typical, but I still like the arabian setting, the war concept, Sinbad (he's awesomeeee <3 and funny!!), the characters, the art, the colour used for the animation, and many more. I don't hate on typical shounen ^^

Haha glad that there are more Nodame fans. And she likes Skip Beat too, hands down for best shoujo manga.

Hmm I actually forgot about the animation, I just remember that I really liked the chemistry between the 2 leads and the romance :) Yes agree that it sucks that they never do that now, I don't like moe, but there are a few exception ^^ Have you seen Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko? That show was full of cuteness, probably the cutest anime I've ever seen, better than all of KyoAni's moe anime.

Whoa, that trailer was actually pretty good. To tell you the truth, I was actually put off by the art, but now that I've seen the trailer, maybe I should pick it up? But I'll only do that after my exam.

Hmm as for Freezing, to be honest I wasn't watching that show for the plot, I could really careless about that. I was watching for more action and they had the male characters to balance the show (all girl cast) out, but now I heard that they've cast the male characters aside. -.-

Yep I am going to marathon it after it is completed. I really like baseball (from watching anime) and would prefer to enjoy the whole game without any cliffhanger and have to wait for another week for a new episode. If you like baseball too, try watching Ookiku Furikabutte, it's the best baseball anime up to date.

It's the same for Magi S2. I haven't complete S1 yet, but I loved it, especially Sinbad.

I loved Nodame Cantabile but haven't had the chance to finish the last season. How I wish Skip Beat could get a sequel, one of my lifelong wishes.

I've seen lovely complex, but for some reason it's missing from my list lol. Thanks for reminding me :) Gonna add it now. I dropped the anime the first time I watched it, mainly because of the art, and not really likable main leads (for that time), but I gave it another try and got hooked around epi6 iirc, where Risa cried because of her feelings for Ootani (iirc Ootani said something to her that made her cry) and she walked past a dude (forgotten who). I love both the main leads after I've watched the show until the end. ^^

Yep yep, Samurai Flamenco need more advertisement! It's not nearly enough. Really underrated though if you look at the rating ): Wishing for it to hit around 8s and top 1k in ranking after it's completed, if the remaining episodes continue to be amusing and entertaining like the 4 aired episode :)

By the way what's your opinion on Mari, the Flamenco Girl? IMO she is a great addition to the cast, and she opened up a few new directions where the show could go, and she's random as hell, showing up suddenly, kicking balls (-.-!), yuri kiss out of nowhere, then a crush on Goto in uniform? Lol. Not to mention she made the original Samurai Flamenco her sidekick lol

Sick video. The music was really well-timed, I got goosebumps. I thought the concept of a Dominator was really original and fit in with the whole idea of Sibyl being the judge, jury and executioner. That and it's a badass looking gun.

I would have ranked Psycho Pass higher but I wrote the review the same day I finished it and I hated the hanging feeling at the end. It started to grow on me a lot after though. I can't wait for the next season.

I almost never watch hockey. The only exceptions have been when the
Vancouver Canucks were close to winning the Stanley Cup. Otherwise
I just ignore it. But I am very untypical, since it is very common here to
see people wearing clothing and having flags on their cars indicating
which team they support. 100% of people here are Canucks fans. There
could be some Calgary or Edmonton fans, but they don't dare say so.

Actually playing hockey is quite uncommon. It is an expensive sport since
kids have to buy all of that equipment. Also, it involves getting up very,
very early for practice at the hockey rink. For these reasons, it involves
a huge committment from everybody in the family. As a result, there is
a high-pressure atmosphere at these kid's hockey games, and injury has
been a serious problem.

For kids, it is much more common to play soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse,
basketball and street hockey.

I gave Valvrave a good try before losing interest. But I have no criticism of it.
I have watched other "mecha" series such as Evangelion. The parts of the
story apart from the mecha scenes were more interesting to me. Also, in
the 1980s there was "Project A-ko" where B-ko built her own giant mechas
in order to fight A-ko. I do also recall the mecha elements of Code Geass
and Full Metal Panic. It is always other parts of the story that I like.

Recently I decided to watch Oreimo starting from episode 1 in the first
season all the way up to episode 15. It is really worthwhile to do this in
order to be able to enjoy season 2 a bit more. I am looking forward to
episode 13 of Oreimo next week and of course I am looking forward to the
three additional episodes coming in the Summer. Despite everything, I
always like the series and I think that it is re-watchable. I even found a
good translation of the light novel series that covers everthing through the
end of episode 12 in season 1. It includes many details not in the anime.

I am looking forward to the final episode of Aku no Hana. In the case of Aku
no Hana, the situation is very different because I still have the option to read
ahead in the manga. Therefore, I don't feel frustrated at the possibility that
I may have to wait a while before they make a second season. A lot of
criticism has been levelled at AnH. My impression is that their budget was large
enough that they can afford to put about 10 minutes worth of good animation
into each episode. The rest of it consists of still images. If I look carefuly, I can
find about 5 minutes of memorable stuff in each episode.

By contrast, there is nothing memorable in Yuyushiki or Photokano. But I did
learn a bit about the latest models of Canon brand cameras.

Hentai no Ooji has some appealing characters and warm moments. However, I
doubt I will remember it too much after a few months have gone by.

I am a huge fan of MariMite, both the anime series and the live action movie.
It is very, very hard to get into. I am also crazy about Lucky Star, which is
quite a challenge for the first few episodes.

I also like the live-action Sailor Suit and Machine Gun from the early 1980s.
It looks strange to see high school uniforms with skirts below the knees.

The 1983 version of the live-action film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is
good. I don't like the more recent animated and live action versions nearly as
much.

Another big interest of mine is watching Hong Kong movies. Unfortunately, they
attract a huge amount of criticism to the effect that they are low quality and
garbage. And realistically they are not too accessible if you are not familiar with
their culture and at least a bit of their language. Their subtitling tends to be
barely-legible and poorly-translated.

I have watched Yuru Yuri and like it. Lots of creativity there. It took me a while
to "get into it".

I watched a lot of Code Geass but I was never able to get into it. I realize that it
is a great classic series. I made a second attempt, again without success.

I did not open your Valvrave spoiler since I am watching it. I'll keep your spoiler
for a bit later. Building a Dyson sphere is definitely a great idea for solving the
world's long-term energy issues.

I really loved Oreimo1. That is one series that I have watched again and again. With
Oreimo2, I guess they are struggling between two issues. First of all, it is business
and so they have to attract viewers. For this reason, it seems to me that they are
trying to make it more "edgy". Thus, we see the sex jokes being a lot more explicit.
However, I think that Oreimo1 had the right degree of "edginess". So episodes of
Oreimo2 give me just a bit of a negative aftertaste. In Oreimo2 they will be
basically okay, but then add one line that takes it just a bit too far. The second
issue with Oreimo2 is that they are obliged to be faithful to the novel series. I have
not paid attention to the future story in the novels, so I am still interested in it.

Regarding Yuyushiki, it is not groundbreaking or memorable. However, I do find
myself learning one or two new facts each week as a result of their internet
searches.

Photokano is certainly not groundbreaking or memorable either. But I think that
the animation is good. In real life, I was a photographer for the high school
yearbook. I really did carry around a camera and photograph people at inter-
school sports events. That was back in the 1970s, so the technology was less
advanced.

Hentai Ooji is not groundbreaking or memorable. On the other hand, I find the
characters, the character designs and the basic premise cute. They put in the
"hentai" concept without going overboard and making it tasteless.

In contrast to the above, Aku no Hana is groundbreaking and it is memorable.
But those adjectives do not logically imply that it is good. I see AnH as an
experiment with a new technique. Is it a successful experiment? Is it a failed
experiment? After all of these episodes, I find that I am drawn into the
characters and the plot. I am no longer distracted by the technical flaws of their
animation method. It seems to me that AnH has some potential to tell a story in
a way that conventional anime can't. For example, AnH is able to show realistic
emotions via facial expressions. Unlike live action, AnH is able to add lots of really
cool stuff, such as a field full of evil flowers. So I can see potential there. I do
feel interested to see new anime series that use the same technical approach as
AnH. People will remember AnH for a long time. They may say that it was a
failed first experiment. A lot of crude words will continue to be used to dismiss it.
Or they may see it as the genesis of a new genre. As for me, I am not taking
sides on this. Everybody has the right to like what they like and vice versa.

If anything, over the past decade you can see that anime is getting more
sophisticated. I mean some of it, not all of it. Perhaps people who got interested
in anime 10 or 20 years ago are getting older. So they are interested to see more
mature and challenging stories. So it kind of makes sense that some portion of
anime could evolve in a direction that is deeper. Aku no Hana could be pushing
in this direction.

But I don't want to imply that there is no previous anime that been psychologically
deep or having literary merit.

On the other hand, there is a very large market for young anime fans who want
to see stuff that is accessible for them. So I have no criticism whatsoever for the
people who produce stuff like Photokano and Yuyushiki. Simple stories about
mechas fighting other mechas are nice. Simple good-versus-evil magical girls
with transformation sequences are nice.

One concern I have is that I think that some anime fans believe that anime is
showing what people in Japan are really like. The Japanese anime industry
pumps out this huge volume of anime, so they have to realize that there is going
to be this phenomenon. One thing that I like about Aku no Hana is that is seems
to be a bit more realistic.

I have only spent a week of my life in Japan, so I don't pretend to be any kind
of an expert.

Thank you for mentioning the anime titles that you are currently enjoying. I'll
