I noticed Machi looks a lot like an older version of Kana.

It's good to see that Jun is finally thinking more about Kana, I like it that he's showing remorse and wants to protect his sister along with everything his father has built up now.

Looks like we might get to see a final battle soon where a lot of human weapons will be used. Judging from the preview, it looks like Machi is going to sacrifice herself. Looking forward to the next ep.

Good for Jun. I'm happy that he has the resolve to protect Kana. With that said though, his backstory was alright.

The preview is making me excited, i cant wait to see it.

The episode felt sorta boring to be honest. I didn't really like Jun's backstory. Points for him for wanting to protect Kana though

Yeah seems so. And I'd love to see Dung Beetle fall of his high horse too...

I liked this episode because we saw Jun on a different light. His intentions are now clear. unlike before where he was very indecisive and fears being misunderstood.

This episode felt kind of boring to me also. I'm looking forward to seeing what Machi will do though. I was half-expecting her to try and secretly recruit Kana behind Jun's back when they went out to the mountains. So will she have any impact at all or be a fruitless sacrifice? On to the next episode...

Not a bad episode at all; Jun's backstory was nice, and it made me like his character a bit more throughout. Still not my favourite, but he's definitely started to take a big 180 these past few episodes.

Jun had a nice back story and it seems that he's now willing to protect Kana and not hold anything against her. Machi now seems to hold regret for what she has done and it seems that now she is going to volunteer herself for a pilot.

After all this backstory on Jun I still don't really understand why he was always so cruel to Kana...

Yeah, the backstory never really explained what caused Jun's personality shift to 'total douchebag'. He was a sweet kid who loved his adopted dad, then his dad stayed out too late on the wrong night and he held it against him ever since?

(notes that he's trying to continue a conversation about this episode that was last commented on over a year ago, continues unabashed)

I do feel a lot more sympathy for Jun, but I don't really understand his violent temper as regards to Kana. Maybe he just has anger issues and always lashes out at the person who he knows won't strike back. I had a lot of rage issues as a kid, so I guess I can see where he's coming from. I still hope Dung Beetle at least gets what's coming to him, even if there seems to be no time for getting back at the Masterminds by this point.

Plowing on into the end ...

Okay backstory, but the episode was a bit... slow. Good episode, though. Looks like Machi is going to be chosen next.

I'm surprised his dad didn't say anything about Machi. He gets a phone call from Jun saying that he and his sister would be coming back, but then when he gets there, he also brought along a girl of the same age. Wouldn't his dad have something to say about that? He acted as if he already knew Machi and knew she would be coming all along.
Some parts of this post may be exaggerated.

Awww I love Jun <3. The episode didn't bore me at all, I think it's sweet. I felt that Machi would sacrifice herself in the conversation with Jun, but I thought Dung Beetle wouldn't allow her. Anyway, the preview confirms she's the next to die.

Only two episodes left :( This series is really good, so I'll be sad when I finish.

Im just so not interested in this kid. I'm glad he's saving his sister but...he's been taking all his anger out on her since episode one and its pretty tiresome considering there is no explanation as to why.

The pace really slowed, but I guess that's not surprising as there are only 2 pilots left, though one hasn't gotten any attention at all. Still now sure why Jun was abusing his sister all the time.

No amount of development is going to make me like Jun. Seeing him abuse Kana all the time makes me hate his guts.

I liked Jun a few episodes ago, thanks to this episode for reminding me how scumbag he was to Kana-chan. His death for Kana's life, that's the only thing I expect from him. Also, can Koemushi be killed, like with a gun?

Lame episode. Having the character 180 redemption for Jun last second is trash writing. He is such a massive shithead, hitting Kana and basically abducting her from home only to constantly beat her. If any of the kids should die its him 15 times over.
I really hate how the anime makes the edgy emo shithead the main character now.

Also where are Seki and the Yakuza guy?! Did they suddenly write out the adults? Doesnt Seki still have to pilot the robot?

For once, I agree with Jun that Kana should not enter the contract.
