Couldn't help but feel bad for Mitsuhide, although a rebel his heart was in the right place. From the bit I know about Oda it seemed like he did some pretty terrible stuff so it's not surprising people would rebel against him.

Didn't think Akechi would meet his end so easily. I thought maybe he'll be killed by Hideyoshi or Sasuke, but shit happens. It actually made me sad.

Wonder, what direction the plot will take from now on.

I don't take Mitsuhide's meaning when he said he rebelled against Nobunaga for the sake of the people, by which I take to mean the common people of the country. He was most frustrated with Nobunaga when he denied him sufficient reward for his part in defeating Nobunaga's enemies. There's been some reference to Nobunaga being ruthless with enemy samurai but nothing about him abusing or exploiting the people. Even his meglomania in seeking to conquer the known world is a problem for the samurai (if they fear they will simply die in the attempt) and not the people.

I take it he's supposed to be a heroic traitor with a tragic fate like many dramatizied depictions of Brutus, but I don't understand how it's meant.
