| It's back and looks just as good as season 1 imo. Maomao is still more or less the same as before in her role. Jinshi is here too and their chemistry is still entertaining. Some of the more prominent consorts are back too. Nothing too groundbreaking yet as it feels like more of an reintroductory episode. I also still enjoy the humor they throw in at times. OP song is decent although I prefer the first season's. Glad to see this anime back. |

| So glad to have this back in such short time since the first season came out. And kicking things off with a Ikuta OP was great. Visually, BY FAR the best, musically, idk I'm kinda mixed. It is nice to hear her without Ayase for once. Hot take, but Ayase lowkey holds her back. OP out of the way though, straight back to it, with us getting to see at least all the important characters as a sort of mini recap, until ofc, we get out main girl herself... MAOMAO!!! And up to Maomao things immediately because not even five minutes in and she's caught red-handed selling porn to the palace ladies... ah Maomao, I've missed your baseness. But yeah, we must be advancing through the years quickly if they've got whole ass printers now apparently. Hell, even copyright exists now eh xD Jinshi's plan was so ridiculously convoluted, I can’t believe it actually worked. But yeah, after that it was just pretty much chill shit, with a cat now joining the gang... and the irony of naming it fucking Maomao... LOL. Chill return, expecting for things to start to take off next episode, but yeah. |

| Great to be back, and great to have another opening song which slaps. They really meant business from the get-go as well, didn’t they? Lol. I mean no recap nothing, just jumping straight into the things. Btw, I really hope this season would adapt till the point where we had the revelation. That would be something, but hey, Maomao went with the underwear excuse with a wrong person, I mean Jinshi being the kind of person he is, he’d not get folded with something like that. Still to think porn mags are some ancient discovery was really hilarious lol. Leave it to Maomao and she’d teach those consorts every bit of dirty stuff that they do(NOT) need to know. Now yeah, this season we’d see more characters and more mystery stuff which really makes this series as one of a thing. Pretty laid back start of this season, though yeah, it’d pick up. Maomao treating a cat of all things was btw something I didn’t think we’d religiously spend time on lol. And hey, her name is Maomao as well xD Nice return and yeah looking forward, I mean we saw a glimpse of those two women in the end. |

| Novelist Natsu Hyuga's series is back a year later since Season 1's end in Winter last year, and much less to say that the hype continues from here, Lilas Ikuta's OP is superbly remarkable, and the same is with Dai Hirai's ED It's great tp see Maomao and Jinshi again continuing into Volume 3 of the LN, as Maomao does distilling and some administrative stuff, like smuggling books that are all the conservatives of the bedroom matters for the red-light district's consorts, and Gaoshun just coercing Jinshi to get a book is so like him, but too bad it gets confiscated by the two men, which requires a large deal of work to be found again. But then again, distributing these books within the Inner Palace goes around quick, and words become a way of life for all, from the old to the young. Which is where Maomao comes in taking care of an abandoned kitten around the Palace, and the young Princess wanting to see the cat for both her and Jinshi to settle matters on their end...their hijinks more than making up for it, but the cat also given the name Mao Mao (which means furry in Chinese), there's 2 Maomao lols. Welcome back, Maomao and Jinshi into style! |

| I found it cool that it showed lots of few developments in the castle. Spreading literacy. The princess and Mao Mao cat were so cute. Curious about the deft new girl and blond caravan girls. Nice slice of life first episode. Cat smelling ftw. |
| Looks like Moamoa has a new companion with a funny name. It's nice to see this anime back been waiting for this season to come so we got to enjoy Moamoa antics again. Hopefully this season will be as good as the last one. It started of nicely. |

| Pretty fitting the start of Season 2 would introduce Maomao 2. Kind of shocking that she isn't a cat person herself though. Also, the idea of Xiaolan mastering reading and writing words for a bunch of herbs and drugs over her own name is hilarious. |
| It was so hilarious seeing Maomao explain the Behaviour of a cat that they are irrestible and are indifferent and only when you give them food that they give you attention which so accurately describes Jinshi's infatuation with Maomao with the only difference being the food being poison XD. |

| MAOMAO AND JINSHI DAY FINALLY. My fave power couple are back. Lilas Ikuta ate that OP tf up. The visuals are so good too Nice chill episode to get us back in the swing of things. Maomao sex ed class getting busted was too funny. All those books had to be so expensive though because this was before the invention of the printing press so all copying was by hand. They hit the rear palace like CRACK in the 80s tho 😭maomao had everyone hooked on em even Jinshi. It’s funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same. People still reading erotica stuff to this day Maomao entering her auntie arc? Having her teach the new princess about the world is so cute. Also helped her find her new kitten! Love how Jinshi starts smiling and falling in love with the cat because it reminds him of Maomao when she’s describing it to him. Missed their banter so much, it was so funny how she apologised to him for making the castration comment lmao. Looks like things are going to get really interesting next week with the caravan showing up!! Can’t wait |

| Episode 1 adapts chapter 1 and 2 of the light novel, but they did skip the prologue tho, it will probably be shown later on tho since it's important. Given the pace I assume this season will adapt volumes 3 and 4, which is similar to how S1 was vol. 1 and 2. |

| I can't describe how happy I am that this show is back, and what a great way to start it off again. Also happy with what Maomao demonstrated this time, still the usual wise and funny Maomao. I also just found out that most of the service staff still can't read, and there's also a new knowledge that there are no pets, so the cat that was found recently was a bit of a surprise. Apart from that, the cat has also been kept and has been assigned, interesting fact is that the cat is also named Maomao.  |

| I think the Op and ED are slightly on the weaker end of the spectrum from the franchise thus far but I'll give them some more time before the final verdict, I feel like the ED in particular has potential to grow on me. Op's visuals are crisp and has great details though, so that's a plus. Wasn't a spectacular episode or anything but this show just has this special ability to make even its regular episodes very enjoyable and the vibes are in full check. I'm surprised the cat was accepted so easily and it being named Maomao was a nice little way to end the segment. In terms of the former, I guess it goes to show how trusting they've become of her now. Emperor directly talking to her took me by a little surprise too, we got maybe like one or two instances of that last season, right? Starting strong this season, indeed! Garnering interest in reading and writing through certain storytelling, that's a smart move! To Jinshi-sama, Maomao is like a cat xD. I was just thinking that when the cat came into the picture. Maomao's stone-faced expression seeing the 360 degree change in Jinshi-sama's love for cats was hilarious, I missed moments like these so much, I swear... There was a little ominous 30 seconds in the dark though, was that purely the cat, I wonder. Glad to have another 2 cours to look forward to and I'm already hoping it won't just end there. |

| The wait is finally over, very fast at that. The opening visuals were pretty and the episode itself looked really good as well. Infact production seems even better but prolly cause it's the first episode. Maomao smuggling the good stuff lol, girl never change. She even got a little sister who's also named Maomao, cute. The princess is adorable too. Jinshi with the realisation that he was chasing a cat all along. Love their interactions as usual. Both theme songs were okay. Also had to lol at this.  |

Not much plot in this opener beyond a few subtle hints Does the caravan bring new exotic concubines? I think I like the season one OP better, but I will revisit that after a few episodes. |

| Good to have this franchise back and it is off to a very solid start. Wasn't a start that kicked things off intensely, but was a good way of bringing me back into the show with ease after a little while with how easy and calming this was to watch. Some nice world building and progression taking place there in the palace with Princess Lingli continuing to grow up and the rear palace ladies-in-waiting desiring more to read and write and improve literacy rates through the acquisition of more novels, etc. Even had Maomao take care of Maomao the cat, which is a pretty on-brand name to say the least. Overall, while not the most memorable episode, this was more than a pleasant start and reminded me why the first season was as good as it was with its standard episodes. The background music was lush and fit the setting really well like the first season too. Doesn't feel like much changed visually from the first season, which is a good thing. The opening looks really good but the song doesn't do it for me. Just is a poor fit compared to how great the songs were in the first season in terms of fit with the show. And to be honest, those songs even as stand-alone music sound way better to me than this opening. |
| Goddess Maomao is back! Yayyyy! 💖💖✌✌ Just like the OP and ED from the previous season were amazing, this season's are equally phenomenal. Although this first episode was relatively calm, Maomao's antics never disappoint. Smuggling sex books to take away the innocence of the palace concubines 😂—at least it's for the noble cause of literacy in the palace, it was also heartwarming to see Maomao helping Xiaolan learn to read and write. That scene felt like watching a proud mother supporting her little girl as she strives for a brighter future. And Jinshi… oh, Jinshi. He went from being indifferent to cats to completely obsessed after a brief explanation from MaoMao 😂. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who named the cat Maomao. |

| Maomao is finally back! I'm really excited to see the return of this series, which was one of the best series of the year when Season 1 aired. Maomao has quickly risen to be one of my favourite anime characters, so nothing makes me more happier than seeing her back on the screen. A rather laid back episode to start things off, with Maomao looking to educate the people of the rear palace on sexual matters, as well as giving them more skills to read. As well, Maomao found a cat to take care of, which is very fitting of her name. Overall, just more of the things I loved from Season 1, knowing more about the inner workings of the palace, as well as the great comedy. Can't wait to see what this season brings! |

| Interesting, a rather laid back and relaxed paced episode. I was mostly about the books distributed and the kitten they found. |
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.  |

| Generally a good episode putting aside things like great animation and va's I've never been crazy hooked on the story itself. That being said I like watching these more traditional shows every once in a while. I feel like the real highlight of this show is the characters and their dynamic together. |
