With graduation approaching, the season finale gives one more chance for everyone to connect and bond in this season. It's great to see everyone in high spirits again at school.

Not going to lie, I definitely got the impressions of the finale ranging from the character emotions, colorful background settings, and even the music. Hori got the most attention given her role so it was interesting to see the story narrative from her perspective. A beautiful finale imo.

Why is Miyamura even living in his own house at this point, he should shift to Hori’s residence permanently, when after all he spends 25 out of 24 hours a day in her house lol.

I mean from waking Hori, to doing her hair, dude has become adept in every field. Though must say, I would’ve liked to see Sakura in a hair bun too like Hori. Though I guess they’re a bit short… anyways, being the finale it was, it was just kind of inevitable to see the entire student roster, the ones we’re familiar with in a single place, and interacting. Student council room being that place, and though it was an unintentional meeting, but I liked when Iura picked that photo, and suggested they should go to a beach to celebrate their high-school graduation.

Graduation trips are a valuable memory after all, but so are the ones our characters made throughout this series. So them showing a “What If?”scenario if Miyamura wouldn’t have met Hori back then the way he did and what would’ve transpired then, really made me look back and think… yep we indeed came a very long way. Lastly it was just a briefing from Hori about all the times they’ve spent and we’ve seen…

… this indeed was the last time:((( Though very first seeing Hori in short hairs:)

Honestly we'd have never needed this if they had faithfully planned this a two-cour show back then to begin with. As I mean with all the hype around the then adaptation, that should've been logical.

Though either way, it was a good past few weeks with this series. And I believe now they have adapted most, if not every chapter out there lol.

Here's to one last ride with our favorite characters.

If there's something to take away from this episode, it's that, no matter what kind of world it was, even if the dynamics with Hori's friends were different from now, I'm sure they would have still met. That's how Hori feels about Miyamura. With graduation just around the corner, I assume these are the concluding chapters leading up to where the anime originally left off that they didn't adapt.

What an adorable episode to conclude with. Hori's behavior can be quite enigmatic, but I'm certain she has her own motivations. Personally, I find that bob hairstyle to be charming. While I do have a preference for her original look, this bob style has a certain effortless appeal. Moreover, I'm truly hoping for more than just a postcard glimpse of their beach trip. I'm really, really looking forward to the moment when Miyamura's tattoos are revealed to everyone. It will be like a "I guess I don't have to hide these anymore" moment.

I don't know if they fully fully adapted everything (I assume not), but I just enjoyed seeing all these characters again one last time.

Back at the Hori house, Sota is ready for school, while Miyamura has to get Hori ready who's just awake...but sleeping back again on her bed. Miyamura fixing her bedhair...and he gets creative by making it into a bun, since he could not get her ponytail. And everyone was complimenting Hori's hair at school, though she doesn't appreciate Miyamura playing with her bun. And when she does to him, it's quite a mess.

Sengoku and Sakura are tidying up the room, and as the devil would sound, both Iura and Yoshikawa came in for the assistance, as Hori and Remi take out the trash. Yanagi coming to find Remi to give her phone back, and Sengoku is awfully weaker than everyone when Miyamura came in for the clutch. Sure, Yoshikawa has just enough strength, both Hori and Sengoku are the certified weak ones. And when Iura came to see the beach poster card that shadows everyone together, it's a feeling that all can reconcile together.

The imagery of everyone being attached to either one person or the other, feels like they've gone a memory flashback in time, espeically Miyamura in his closed vision, and others like Sakura being helpless as the student council's secretary. All of them, doing their own stuff and knowing the people close to them, slowly, this small clique of friends becomes a big one, though the person missing apparently wasn't just Yanagi, but Miyamura himself. How Hori and Miyamura met, it was certainly a string of coincidences, of fate and destiny that they found each other, regardless. And as they close in on the graduation phase, it's as if we've reached the ending of the main anime through the same means as well, but in a deeper portrait.

Miyamura bringing cake to Hori's house despite being very late to her place, and Hori cutting her hair to match Miyamura's, she looks like a tomboy, and Miyamura does the same for new experiences. That's why they're HoriMiya to begin with.

A good side story of Horimiya attaching The Missing Pieces together, though I'm still salty of the bizarre decision made to splice the manga into both the main anime and this.

Let's first start with the bad news.. It's over!!
Now the the bad news is over...

Well it was nice seeing this again i really enjoyed it and it makes me think fondly of the first season.
I would have liked to see a bit more about the other couples tho or at least one or two others couples being formed but i guess you can't have it all.
For now this it was a nice anime.

With that the Horimiya anime finally ended. I'm going miss the characters so much. It was so great to have this anime after the manga ended. It finally adapted some of my favorite moments from the manga. Again, I'm really gonna miss this show. I'm gonna watch this episode back again with subs.

I'm already laughing from the start of the episode lol
I love this moment. So cute.

The flashback was so good. Such a contrast between then and now.
This scene is from the first episode of this season I think?

Hori's monologue with the music... Got me emotional
21:53 btw in the ED here Hori is typing "777723##222666 7" I wonder if this means anything. Probably not.
SCENE AFTER CREDITS! I heard the manga ended on the graduation so I wonder if this is anime original.
And another one falls to the curse of anime girls cutting their hair... Still looks nice
This episode was 26 minutes long which is a bit longer than usual anime episodes (24 mins). They must've cut some advertisement parts to show us more. Respect.

END
This was so good. Much more focused on comedy than romance but I loved it. BUT WHERE IS MY ISHIKAWA X YOSHIKAWA ROMANCE?
9/10

I heard that there is a sequel for the manga (volume 17). Here's hoping that'll be adapted someday in an OVA series or somehing.

It's one of the few with a good score that I don't agree at all. I don't see the appeal of it.
Extremely cliché and boring romance imo.

Hori's going through what i do every monday morning before work lol. The Miya bun sure proved to be popular. Still it was amusing seeing his newfound interest in hair styling. Poor Sengoku though. The flashback into their past really showed how much has changed for them and their friends. The switching of the hair styles was cute though and looked nice on both of them. Overall a fitting end to the season that managed to end it on a high note. Gonna miss seeing the cast on Sat now.

An emotional end to this supplementary material for Horimiya. I loved the message of my finale being that no matter what Hori and Miyamura would've found each other. Those numerous coincidences they experienced lead to this moment but they would've found each other regardless. The little what if about if they hadn't made me sad, Hori even felt like someone was missing from the group. Flashing back to the Miyamura that Hori knows was done so well. Tons of new moment seen in this season, lots of character moments the original season didn't have the time to fit got to be animated. We got lots more focus even away from the main couple, with Iura and Yanagi getting their own episodes to show more of them. Lots more of Sengoku, meeting his dad and more of his relationship with Remi. Sakura having to deal with her feelings and maybe developing new ones. Spending more time at the Hori household and learning more about Hori parents. Hori and Miyamura even having a fight and making up. They gave us a lot more to see with this cast and I very much enjoyed it.

A very solid finale with them graduating. I love this group of friends a lot.

Overall, while somewhat disjointed in storytelling due to this being side stories, the comedy hit much better in these slice of life moments. Very solid visuals as well. I had a great time with this series, and it ended up being one of my favourites of the season. A missed opportunity though, as if this was adapted properly from the beginning, it would have been possibly one of my favourite romance anime of all time.

8/10.

After two months, we've reached the final episode. Graduation is just around the corner, what'll be the next piece in the puzzle?

Hori's bun reminds me of Natsuki Enomoto, dunno why but it's cute and that's enough for my weary soul. Poor Miyamura with that mess of a hair-do, can't leave Hori in a position of power for too long otherwise it turns into that haha. Sengoku can't get a break at times, that moment when they're talking about the beach and ocean waves start playing in the back is so cheerful and sweet.

I like that flashback sequence on each of the characters and how the group slowly formed, I thought it was a nice refresher on how much they've changed since the beginning thanks to one another. Seeing that same scene once again with Hori shouting for Miyamura and the slow yet moving soundtrack in the back brings tears to my eyes, but it makes me happy that we've been able to enjoy the ride that is this.

I'm gonna cry, what a beautiful finale to one of my favorite romcoms.
Have a wonderful Saturday.

Kyoko had 2 good looking styles there, both of which made her look more mature especially the bun.

I was hoping we would have them tell the parents about the proposal, sadly that didn't happen although it would have been hilarious.

And so it ends, im really had we had "pieces" as it adds so much

Maybe an ova with a time jump.... please

I really liked this episode! We got the what-if scenario that's a bit different from the manga. I don't remember if they did that in season 1 as well? The choice of having no background track during the scenes was great. They got the atmosphere just right.

We got to see Hori with short hair! Waaaah! I also cut my hair short just two days ago, and it's so cute. We're both the cutest.

Nice finale for an ok show <3

They really nailed the ending didn't they. Honestly I don't remember how i felt watching the finale 2 years back but I am sure the final episode this time around felt wayyyy better to watch. The second portion(felt the background was webcomic like) was a really good one, possibly my favourite of this entire season, and although they kind of split the graduation thing, it really went well with the feeling of ending horimiya. Overall , a great watch for the summer 2023 season, I really hope we get this type of SoL more. Also they have to be one of the best ani-couples I have seen, they compliment each other really well. That's possibly all there is to Horimiya, so we end on a very good note. Solid 9/10.

Hori haters will watch this episode and only see the part where she playfully punches Miyamura, then close their eyes for the rest of it and wear noise-cancelling headphones during her speech.

Loved this series, I rewatched season 1 not too long ago up until ep. 12, will be watching the season 1 finale now, then I will finally be able to read the manga. Whoo!

Wasn’t sure how they’d go about ending this one giving how we already saw the ending pretty much lol, but I really like how they did it here. Graduations in anime always give me the feels so it was nice seeing parts of that again, and I really loved the scenes before they all became good friends with that effect on the screen, as well as before Miyamura and Hori even met, I don’t really believe in fate or destiny but it is kinda amazing how many things had to happen like Miyamura said. And ending on the two of them cutting their hair after graduation was nice, I’m usually not a fan of when anime characters cut their hair because it often makes their design worse, but Hori really kills that short hair look and Miyamura don’t look too bad either lol.

But that was the end of this completely unexpected sequel, it may have been a bit scattered in terms of what was adapted but I had just as much as I did with the original show, if not more so. We got to see some focus on characters we barely saw in the original, and there was so much great comedy here that we missed out on before too. And of course getting more on the characters that already had a lot of focus was great too, I’ll never complain if I get to watch Hori and Miyamura being one of the greatest anime couples for more episodes lol.

And the OP and ED for this were top notch, both very good songs with some good visuals to go with them, I think I do prefer the original’s ED slightly but the OPs I can’t decide on which I like more lol, all great songs of course tho. And with that, I guess now we’ve actually reached the end for real this time, unless we got an OVA or a surprise 3rd season but I’m not sure if there’s enough manga for that lol, I’d gladly take a 3rd season taking place after high school tho, that’d be epic.

Okay, they tied the ending with Hori-san's monologue and Miyamura's daydream too well. Definitely tugged a heartstring or two, I love the series too much. You could really feel the passion of the team here and the direction was superb too. I didn't think there was much to offer through this Missing Piece adaption but I think it did its job, pleasantly surprised.

Hori-san with short hair? Hey, that looked pretty darn good to me.

I guess this really is the end of the series. Back to that usual bittersweet feeling...

Honestly I’ll never understand the appeal of Horimiya. The build up to Hori and Miyamura relationship was the best part and then it was just kind of mid from there on out. The side characters carried from that point on. It’s not horrible, but it’s just not nearly as good as the hype lets on.

So we end not on a collection of various short stories, but rather with what is kind of a treat actually, something quite beautiful to wrap it all up. Would it have been better as a more complete, cleaner package of one single season of 24 episodes? Would it have been a better experience having a more steady balance between the lighter and heavier tones? Perhaps, but you still have to be glad that we did get "Pieces" rather than not at all. And since these two parts of Horimiya are separate, just comparing them, and from what I remember, I have to say I prefer Horimiya: Piece over the first season.

I still think all the different hair colours look kind of dumb as if they were candy, and I was hoping for some scenes where our entire cast, the whole group went out to hang out together, like maybe at the beach like Iura wanted. Instead it's a mix-and-match of select characters between different scenes, mostly taking place at school or the Hori house. Nothing wrong with that, I just would've love to see them ALL hang out as a group of friends, at the beach or wherever. From what I remember, we didn't get that. That's just a nitpick though. However if we ended with them all actually at the beach (instead of a kind-of random haircut scene.... I like Hori's btw but Miyamura got a downgrade), that would've easily propelled it from a 6 to a 7 for me.

Still, imho a better experience than the first season of Horimiya, as the overall lighter tone fits these characters better I think. Not that there's anything wrong with a lot of drama, but for a show like Horimiya, it would've probably played out better being more balanced out and not being TOO heavy. This season was 99% fun and games, I would've like for relationships between characters to be explored a little more- but ig that's what the first season is for. Again, the two should've just been combined to be perfectly balanced as all things should be. Nonetheless, this was a good season, and shouldn't be disregarded, even if you didn't find too much favour in the first season like I did.

Not sad that it's over, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have at least a hint of that bittersweet post-anime depression.
