Well that was confusing. knowing nothing about Spriggan I was kind of lost, also not a big fan of the CGI but it was no ex-arm. CGI just makes an anime feel off. the fight scenes were pretty decent though.

I have to say i was excited for this series. I even watched the old movie days ago and checked some of the manga chapters (at least the ones available). This episode basically cover the first 4 chapters i guess.

The mix of 2D and CGI was actually good in some scenes, action is also great. The OST is also really good.

The story is simple, but decent. An action adventure around the world to stop bad guys get some ancients relics.

Next episode seems to cover the old movie part.

Decent Start! Ok CGI was actually looking good at some places but not everywhere, ig it will make habit when i proceed next to the show. That ED Was good felt like i am listening a 90's song. So many OSTs Gaved me 90's vibes. Action is decent for this ep don't know about next ones. But good start. Will Look Forward to it and let's see what this show delivers...

Great OST, the mix of CGI and 2d actually works here and the fights are fluid (anyone who complains about the CGI is just wrong and doesn't know how to tell good CGI from bad.) The story is very fast paced but it's easy to wrap your head around it and the concept of action civilizations and sealed artifacts is really cool. I give episode 1 4/5.

Feels like the pacing is too fast, and pretty much the only CG characters here are the MC and the NPC soldiers.

I liked it, The CGI and 2d mix feels weird but was entertaining as hell. I enjoyed the fights scenes. Pacing might be fast but I like the idea of adapting it in 6 45 minute episodes. Definitely will continue Spriggan

It was no ex arm, but I didn't even find it worthwhile to finish ep1. Lets put the bad cg aside. Explaining how the tech works in every possible moment is just a big no no for me. In the first 5 minutes there was so much useless information pumped out. Like in the fight between Spriggun and Preacher(?). Why are you explaining his supersonic hand tech when we don't even know who is who, or why are we here, or even where the fuck are we!

afaik Episode 2 Covers events of the Movie. So no you don't have to watch the movie. It's a re-adaptation of the manga.

It's good but it suffers from the same Berserk 2016 did...
Some scenes are just ugly to look at.
Could have been an 8/10 but I'm dropping it to a 6/10 because of the ugly CGI.

I really love the concept of advanced ancient civilizations leaving super powerful artifacts connected to real world mythology. It’s a shame it isn’t executed better.

The action is pretty good, but the writing is not. Characters are always explaining their motives and what they’re thinking at all times. And when we’re not getting that we’re getting Yu saying “cool” one liners and doing his best Yabuki Joe impersonation.

Everything also feels rushed since they try to resolve the plot by the end of the 40 minute episode. But the most surprising flaw is that the sound design is bad too. It’s often too quiet or doesn’t pack the necessary punch it needs. David Production kills it in that area with JoJo and Fire Force so I don’t know why it’s bad for this.

The concept and action make me want to wathf the next episode so hopefully it gets better.

I liked it... the cgi was not terrible tbh i didnt even notice it sometimes... they were used for long range action scenes and the closeups were always 2D...

so Spriggans are soldiers that protects or seals away god or advanced ancient civilization technology from evil people that wants to use those magical technologies to control the world eh

the action is really great in this one i do not know why people are saying its bad despite most of the fights are in 3DCG

its a simple action show done right with some science fiction dialogues

hoping Yu ends up romantically with the cute professor too

Idk why people are complaining about the cgi. It's great. And it's mixed well with the 2D animation. Honestly that was a strong start. I have no idea what to expect for the remaining 5 episodes tho. It seems like it may be episodic.

Oh wow, so we got competing factions, government agencies, a religious fundamentalist and more. Linguistics and archaeology + sci-fi is totally my jam.

First we got that ultrasonic dude who believes he's bringing about a biblical apocalypse (which Yu used the doppler effect to counteract). And an indestructible plate written in the Hebrew (Paleo-Hebrew script was derived from Phoenician, hence it does not resemble the blockier Hebrew written today).

The idea of scientists messing with a volcano seems reminiscent of Kenji Miyazawa's The Life of Budori Gusuko (written in 1932). Here's it's combined with Xu Fu's search for the elixir of life (said to have found Mt. Fuji thinking it was the land of immortals).

The guy from the Spetsnaz taking down Moroha for betraying them was so badass.

This line reminded me of Stroheim from JoJo part 2:

Well that was dull. The entire first half was just people suddenly appearing to interrupt scenes, we got very rushed explanations about some of the people involved and events taking place, and the main character is extremely basic.

I don't think I'll bother.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

It's surprise for me, too young to know the film of 98, I had no preconceived ideas
A pleasant anime, great fight scenes and a very good ost.

For this first episode, special mention to the rescue, the scene is so epic !

this show is fucking amazing and gets across the tone of the manga better than the movie (for all its amazingly technical studio 4c animation)

This really tries to hit all the tropes. From villains explaining their own abilities, to weird tech talk and self introductions. Its super cringe.

The animation looks.. bad overall, sometimes its okay. The mix of 2d and 3d just isnt done well.

The story seems interesting though. Its the sea people I tell you!

Really what is up with netflix "anime" and always looking shit? Anime is pretty cheap to produce compared to traditional western drama shows, you would expect netflix to manage to look average atleast.

PS: I wonder if the russian cyborg also runs on civilian tech ripped from dishwashers?

wasn't too sure on this one but i was bored today and spent a good part wrapping up the spring

short and sweet if you wanna turn off your brain and watch some duder action with military themes that have a ton of tropes and writing that feels like it's right out of a shounen series

i can see this being someone's jam

writing on the other hand outside of it's core premise was not good at all

animation at times was nice i don't really see where the it looks so bad is coming from but the moment people see any cgi they think that so to each their own. but after spending a night watching date a live III seeing something look half decent was a treat

bit too violent for my liking

Man, David Productions never mess when it's about good animation...
I kinda understand what Solof said, balance is a necessity...
Aaaand that ancient script written in that tiny board, I believe it's written with Aramaic alphabet, not Kennanian nor Hebrew. Historical mistake.

SPRIGGAN BEGGIN

Nota: 8.7

Well, this anime is quite confusing since there are a lot of new terms...
The animation is quite good for 2.5 dimensions. Looking forward to the next episode!

You're cringe. Grow up.

It's not Anti-American. And if it was who gives a shit? Do you really need an anime blowing hot air up your butt for your fragile ego? It's anti-hostile entities that want to utilize ancient artifacts for destruction. America happens to be the villain a few times this series because America is always in a power struggle with the rest of the world.

Episode of double duration, around 40 minutes.

The bases of the anime are clear, and the main character enters into a simple story.

Discreet animation!!!kekeke

The first episode was good. Although I am not a massive fan of such anime genre, the new Spirggan looks primarily good from the visual and aesthetic viewpoint. The other great thing was the quick action of the story.

Let's see what the next episodes of the Netflix adaptation of the new Spriggan anime can offer to me.

I've heard a lot about Spriggan over the years but I don't think anyone's ever explained it that well as I had no idea it was to do with Ancient Civilisations! It was a good enjoyable first ep. I wonder why they did 6 40 min eps instead of the much more standard 12 20 min eps? lol.
