Shigehira was given a loser's parade for the burning of Nara, and Emperor Go-Shirakawa is gaining aptitude against the Heike.

At this stage, any action will be regarded as a threat, good or bad, because it concerns all. Especially for the eldest Taira no Shigemori family tree of Koremori who's been given clemency from his dead father Kiyomori, and Tokuko has to protect the future emperor Antoku.

Koremori running away from the reality set before his very eyes to be a monk, he's finally able to reach a moment of solace. Even with the coincidental meet with Biwa, Koremori is trying to find himself, and Biwa provides part of that emphasis of him committing a prayerful suicide to the afterlife, knowing that she could not save him regardless.

It's clear that Emperor Go-Shirakawa's investment in Yoshitsune does bring a good resolution, and they're reaping the benefits of ripping the Heike bit by bit. Biwa choosing to witness the Heike's downfall to tell the story to future generations, she's back to where the Taira clan and Tokuko reside in Yashima (which was being chased out yet again by the Genji).

More war, and more losses for the Heike to return the Scared Treasures, and the Genji are closing on them without any reprisal. Which side will win this final battle?

While Koremori run, Biwa just go in to spectate from the most dangerous seat.

I was kinda underwhelmed on the Nasu no Yoichi, after all was a legendary shoot.

I must say Biwa in her narration form in this episode was spectacular.

Doesn’t the show end in one more episode?

Remember kids, if one of your best friends who you've known since childhood is going to kill himself, don't try to stop him. Just half-heartedly ask if you can change his mind and give up when he says you can't. Seriously, Biwa? You could have at least tried to do a bit more than that. Are you seriously so dedicated to telling the story of the Heike that you won't even bother trying to save Koremori's life? The fact that her inaction wasn't presented negatively kind of sends a pretty bad message.

Other than that, stunning episode as always.

Biwa is literally the only person in this that isn't real. She is just there to tell the story, you can't have her impacting actual events

Emperor Go-Shirakawa's winning with ease against the Heike now. Them, begging for forgiveness, is not going to help. No matter what they do.. The only thing he needs are the sacred treasures. Koremori ran away from home and became a Monke because he finds no meaning in life anymore and doesn't want to live in fear. Sadly, he commited suicide in the end. Biwa will still pass down his story and the story of every other person in the Heike. Yoshitune is gaining a lot of fame on the other hand. The last battle between the Heike and Yoshitune/Genji will be fought in the next episode. This is going be crazy.

Is it just me or did the backgrounds in this episode look a lot better than usual? (which is saying something) Also the various beautiful flower shots through out the episode. I wonder who storyboarded/directed this episode. I'm really happy Biwa and Tokuko met one last time, their relationship was one of my favourite things in this show, sad there is only an episode remaining

Amazing storytelling. The effects on Biwa's chants were spectacular, as well as the action. It was a very emotionally charged episode.

Another episode, another week of pain and another phenomenal episode. Rest in peace Koremori, Sukemori's the only one left out of Shigemori's sons. Can't believe there's only one fucking episode left bruh. I am sure the show's gonna end as it started, fantastic. Biwa's a great storyteller and she's here to witness the end of the Heike personally.

I like that that little scene with the Shirabyoshis and Yoshitsune established a romance really well just like that. Really looking to the last episode, but I am sure it's gonna be a painful one.

The Heike ships are down and Biwa is there to watch the end of the Heike.
Historically the Emperor did not regain power and the Kamakura regime would go down in flames in 100 years

This is definitely one of the best fall anime. I really liked the comments on this discussion. I think in the next episode we will see another impressive tragedy.

Who is the man who said the last dialogue at the end of episode 10 on the ship? Isn't he the son of Shigemori?

That was one of Shigemori's siblings, Tomomori.

It's a historical anime, so we cant change history, right?

Biwa is a smart girl. She knows there are things beyond her power, and thus acts within her means. But still, she cares enough to seek Koremori and talk with him for one last time.

Her singing with Sukemori caught me off guard and so does her last appearance this ep.

Sufferings have been the main focus in this show but the way it blends beauty and pain causes aches and tingles few others can match.

God damn Koremori... at least he was able to find peace first, but what a tragic end. You could interpret it as cowardly just as Biwa said. Didn't realize there was only 1 episode left either... Don't want it to end but the writing is on the wall. Is everyone we know from the Heike really going to die? Guess I'll find out.

Man, it was very difficult to catch up with all the names being thrown around, the pacing and me not remembering who was who, but I made it. At least I'll be able to witness the finale of this... very peculiar historical anime.

On that sense, I'm very conflicted now on Biwa being a character at all. Like, I knew from early on that she wasn't real with her powers and all but still, the justification given as to why she can't do anything is not really satisfying. I wonder if the show would improve if she wasn't there at all.

Even that was it for Koremori as well. He couldn't live with his fate and decided to end it all by living the life of a monk and gladly giving away his life. Now, the only one left is Sukemori who's confused himself with what he should do. Biwa returned to the Heike and decided to look for the future and what that holds for them.

And, I guess, once again it is not gonna be easy for Heike to flee as they're facing the battle once again. This may be the end of their story and I wonder what will happen to Biwa. Will she face the same fate as them or something miraculously different will happen? She's losing everyone one after another who she cared about. It's really sad to see.

Even Koremori was at his wits' end, became a monk and was finally able to attain peace. Biwa too got to see him in those final moments and promised too pass on his story.

And finally the end is near for the Heike empire, just too pitiful to see how the mighty have fallen.

Pretty fucking hopeless. I wonder if biwa is just a ghost or someshit cause she hasn't aged while everyone else is like the same.

Behold of my awesomeness~

Biwa is back with the Heike meanwhile Tokuko is clearly the best one, and still here, but seems like their time will end in the next and last episode.

I hoped Koremori would, even with regret of not having said goodbye to his family, live a peaceful life as monk but alas... and seems like the sadness continues with the battle taking place above water which following Biwa's predictions doesn't bode well...

Was Koremori not the only one who drowned himself, then? Suicide monk boat? O_o

Also, people talking like there're any "ifs" in the story. Anybody who knows a bit about Japanese history knows how will it end, who will win, who will die, and so on.
