The ending is good for me but the story. Like come on, everything just so weird here. The only thing I like from this anime is just how they nailed the ending but the story is just fucked up, it doesn't make any sense and too much cringe part

the story made perfect sense but honestly the characters didn't. maybe that's what ticked you.
that one guy cross-dressing as menma for some really nonsensical reason, people not talking about the things that matter at all. I see someone getting frustrated by those things but the story? nah.

A lot of the friend characters were frustratingly idiotic at times, even the main but overall it’s a good show imo just can’t give it a 5

I LOVE IT, it shows pain and beliveble things. I gave this series a 10/10, in my opinion, it’s a one of a kind masterpiece

I really loved the story. It beautifully showed how they all grew apart and then came together. I loved the concept that they all despised each other but were commonly connected through their guilt and regret. Everything was woven beautifully. I can get it how some might find it cringe but still it was a very good story with one of the best and heartfelt endings I've ever seen.

It’s not as good as Violet Evergarden or any other anime like that but it was pretty good. It took a little bit for me to get into it but it was a good watch overall

I would say the story was decent. It was a very understandable story, and was thought out. The only problem are the characters. The characters aren't very likable. With no concrete or likable characters, its easy to say the overall series was horrible because the main part, which are the characters, weren't appealing.

The Thing I hate about posts (or pretty much anything regarding Anohana) is that it will ALWAYS Have mixed answers. As For me, This Story Was Amazing, I Loved It. The Charecters Were so Real and had so Much amazing depth to them, It was Incredible. People Often complain that the Charecters were Selfish or terrible people, and I'm here to say that was Exactly The point the Show was trying to make. They're Terrible, selfish Teens Who could only care about themselves, Which Is what makes the development of these Charecters all the more rewarding. 10/10

Honestly, I don't get the hype behind it. People say this is one of the greatest emotional animes of all time, yet I just felt a ton of it was forcing me to care about characters that I felt were too stereotypical for me to get invested in, much less for 11 episodes that it was asking for.

It's a good show but it's definitely not what I personally would call one of the greatest of all time. If you love the show like I'm sure most do that's amazing and 10/10 if it helped you through something painful or you could connect to it cause I can see this anime doing that for people. But I just honestly cannot understand after all the emotional stories that have been told in this medium that this is one that should stand out.

I gave it a 6/10 but again if you love it and feel it's a 10/10 show then that is amazing and I personally get that with some shows I adore or have helped me too.

P.S I watched it in Dub, maybe the Sub is a lot better I don't know I might watch it again sometime.

Too long for a plot that could've lasted 2-3 episodes, most of the story was leading up to the pretentious crybait that is the ending.

The entire plot could have been summed up in 8 episodes. And the ending was not even sad, it was straight up cryporn cringe.

It's initial episodes was good enough to give it a 7.

I gave it a 7/10 but I think I might have overrated it a bit... I don't have any desire to re-watch/reassess it. It's really hard to believe anyone would still be grieving over their childhood friend after so many years. I don't remember much from when I was 5 years old...

I gave it a 3, it’s just a bait anime. The idea is to win you over with all the sad scenes and cool visuals I guess

I wanted to like this anime due to the themes, but it is the first anime series that made me more critical than usual. When my mean score is still above 7 it's the first anime that I rated lower than 5. I watched this as someone who's new to a guy who regularly watch anime because it's my ex-gf's favorite anime but actually hated it for being a nonsensical love triangle among children and unmemorable characters I barely know the names that is not Menma.

But I view it with less hate nowadays after I think more about this series because personally the ending made me happy because they are not being miserable anymore, I didn't cry while watching this anime but seeing their smiles when they can see Menma is definitely, one of my honorable mentions of my favorite anime endings, perhaps in my top 10 I would say.

Yet there's better one that tackled the same theme of the loss of a childhood friend, it's the fairly well-known RPG maker videogame OMORI despite being a videogame that have delayed release for 7 years. The reasons for their deterioration of the characters friendship in OMORI are more believable, characters are more than (I hate this term but I would say this) plot devices and has memorable personalities, and overall the art and the soundtrack are kinda dope also the ending is really emotional than Anohana, it also tackled the relationship between siblings in addition to old childhood memories which I would say has deeper bond than the close enough childhood friends. It can be a coincidence since the author of OMORI didn't cite Anohana as an inspiration for OMORI and people rarely talk about the similarity despite it's really apparent, but since it did the right things that Anohana lacked there's more reason to praise OMORI than Anohana.

tldr : I'm interested in the theme of childhood friendship breakup, I hate watching Anohana, idc about the characters but I liked the ending more than most anime endings. With similar themes I like to play OMORI, I liked the characters and loved the ending. It's better.

Liked everything except all of the love triangles. I would've probably given it a 10/10 if there hadn't been any love drama.
