| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- And it was a recap all along. And this aired right after the Vivy recap too, lmao. Ngl, it’s a little weird to make a recap episode at the end of the first season, rather than broadcasting it right before the second season. Considering how the recap has narration from Lena, this was a prime chance to go more in-depth with some of the info-dumping stuff that was cut out from the LN. It makes sense to cut out some of the details and monologues in the main series to make the story flow better and the series depended on its visuals to do the telling anyways. However, it would’ve been nice to get some of the details from the novel adapted in some form. Wasted opportunity imo. However, that new English arrangement of ‘Avid’ for the ED was pretty neat. A lot of people were predicting that this special episode would adapt the epilogue from volume 1 (because the episode title and the epilogue’s title are similar). However, I’m extremely glad that this episode didn’t adapt the epilogue for two reasons. First, if it was an adaptation of the epilogue, it shouldn’t be labeled as a special episode as many viewers would end up skipping it. And second, the epilogue would spoil a lot of the suspense in the next season. It just spoils too much too early. Anyways, that’s that. Can’t wait for the next season, which was announced for Fall 2021 at the end of the recap! |

| Sad to say that this "special edition"...was a fully special omnibus recap of the 1st Cour. Not surprised that Vivy's special edition (that aired on TV) is also a special omnibus recap. But at least, this is from Lena's POV, so there are details here and there. What a perfect way to bamboozle all of us with the title. T.T But then again there will be spoilers if Volume 1's prologue (or the epilogue for that matter) if adapted. |

| Looks like the special episode is told mainly from Lena's perspective with her recap narratives. There's still some of the common themes from the main shows with other cast making appearances including Shin. As expected, Lena is still very outspoken in this special. The reality and horrors of war still plagues their world and can see the fighting spirit on the battlefield. I think this special had a lot of emotions and even used the same theme song as the first season's finale and ending. Season 2 premiering in Fall 2021! |

| I was thinking it would be something more than a recap but it was alright. It was basically the recap of the previous 11 episodes from Lena's perspective. Got my hopes up nothing. LOL |

| I thought this was some kind of bridge type episode but a recap right after the season finished? Season 2 isn't even close |
| While the special was largely a recap over the course the series which reflected the fact that its the epilogue hearing Lena's remarks on specific aspects of the events that took place was nice. The stills at the end were nice though in showing just how many friends they buried. And with this A1 managed to cover v1 in its entirely while also giving us a nice heads up on the next season as well. October huh Fall 21 can't come fast enough. |

| Well indeed, nothing more than a big recap/summary : not very relevant at this stage since most of events/scenes are still in our heads. Would have been understandable a few weeks or days before the actual release of season 2 But well, it also teased the second season with a short after-credits scene and an official date |

| As a summary movie, if I hadn't watched the season before it would have been a bit basic, but watching straight after the season ending just reminding me of that bitter feeling I felt last week. All the emotions pent up. I think there was one new scene here if I'm not wrong? Also, music this episode was much more intense. Sawano Hiroyuki(?) really did this show justice. |

| And this special is... a recap. Quite disappointed, even though I had no idea what the special was going to be. It'd make more sense to air this recap a week before "Season 2" starts airing which is still at least 3 MONTHS off. There's no reason to watch it now as there's barely anything new here. Ig there's a small teaser at the end confirming the release date of "Season 2". And according to one commenter here there's a new track in the beginning? My guess is that track might be played in season 2 and you could probably see the teaser by Googling it or something. I could be wrong tho. I agree with OP here. What's with anime making recaps right after they FINISHED airing? Albeit I enjoyed the Vivy recap slightly more because it had all the insert songs sprinkled throughout each major arc it covered. (I'm saying this here because MAL didn't approve the Vivy special into database yet) |
