THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
First six episodes were released on Netflix in Japan on March 21.

plot slowed down again, instead this episode created some space for Michiru's character development, as she regains her human form by recalling memories of the past. yet after what happened with Nino, Michiru decides to stay a little longer in Anima City, sympathizing with the beastmen...

...and also because she owes Ogami money...

also the part where Flip executed one of the beastmen was pretty brutal and caught me off guard for a second. first on screen (kinda) death iirc

Great episode, looks like Michiru can go back to her human form and to her animal form again, Nina the dolphin was cute but she almost got killed in the aquarium...
Seems like Michiru's mom still think of her, I hope she will be able to see her parents again

This kinda made me sad, but also i feel like the humans are kinda dumb lol. like, how did her social network perceive her disappearance? Like, did she just stop showing up to school one day? But like, they're still celebrating her bday so...
Also, who tf doesnt know that a dolphin is a mammal? I excuse this one by assuming the girl was drunk lol. but also like, don't those tanks usually have openings on top? sry, im getting off track on anime logic.
Overall i rly enjoyed it and im curious to see how what role the blond guy at the end will play in the whole thing. Definitely gonna be a highlight this season... assuming the remaining episodes don't drop within the next week or so.

But damn, I get serious trust issues when it comes to this show. Can't trust anyone besides the mayor, and our MCs.

Another great episode

Nina is naive tho, but I like her. I wonder if she’s gonna play an important role later on or not
I totally knew something was about to happen the moment they got to the party. I don’t think that Lisa had bad intentions, but omg how dumb can you be lmao

So she finally tried changing back to your human form, I wondered if she even tried in the first place before that, also she always ends up in these bad situations, but I guess it's natural for someone to be adventurous like they are exploring something new.

Especially since they have pool (I know that dolphins need salt water but still), I was expecting that it was sick prank go wrong but this looks like just genuine mistake (aka "drinking too much" symbolism), and these apathetic reactions from people... it really looked these people didn't wanted to help her. :/

From episode to ep my score is becoming lower. And by just animation alone I think I will stay with 7/10.

Michiru, having missed the Medical Centre's chance of research, Mayor Mary instead offers her citizenship under Beastmen law.

The gang leader Flip and Shirou have amiable relationships, though one with precaution. And the first death...not quite gruesome but is worth noting.

Michiru's next "mission" involving her coincidence with Nina the dolphin daughter of Flip, through social media is quite the frenzy. And she's finally able to change into her human form, succeeding after not being able to the past few episodes. The same power she harnesses now will be the centrifugal force to reckon with as embezzlement is concerned in the fight of good and evil.

With their human forms, entering a poignantly human beastman cosplay party reeks a red herring from Michiru. We'd thought dolphins can breathe, but the misconception is found here and Michiru ends up saving her life.

More setup with the overarching plot slowly growing.

Looks like she can turn back after all.

I wondered how the wolf guy survived that huge fall last episode. Well, it seems like he has an immortal body, or something like that

Overall, great episode, just like the previous ones. Currently my rating is 9/10, I hope this quality keeps up

This episode was dead eye on point - those pro-animal human activists do more harm than good. Just like in real life. I don't know what kind of social message this show tries to relay but i like the way it's doing.

Explanation behind Michiru's nature looks like going to be along the lines of "Genetics, son".

The blonde scientist guy doesn't seem to know about Michiru, so he might not be the mastermind behind her transformation. 3rd party then. That's intriguing!

The plot advances towards the next stage! Michiru seems to be able to turn back by accident, but at a time when she became very emotional about returning home.

I hope Nina is someone she has befriended now and perhaps we'll see her return.

Going back to the Humans was a dangerous thing in the first place, but I do believe what happened at that party was just an unfortunate accident! This Lisa girl really looked like she felt really bad for what she did! There's hope!

It's similar but not 100% the same song, or even pitch, etc. I'm also unable to find any other mention of it online (in either Japanese or English) and it'd be odd if, if this were the case, for absolutely *no one* to pick up on it. So I'm still guessing this connection isn't right, unfortunately, despite the similarities.

Anyway… I JUST LEARNT of him actually becoming a politician (holy shit) after your post – somehow missed the news – and it pretty much made my year. His work in World Order was pretty amazing (not to mention his MMA fighting entrances) and I knew he had recently stepped into a more directorial/producing role for the group, but this isn't too surprising (but sort of amazing and hilarious too) and seems like a natural step for him – he's still staying true to himself and his message and is now, in his mind, the best way of doing some good stuff in the world. I'm really happy for him.

"In Sudo’s main projects in life, there was some crossover. As an MMA fighter, he found himself to be an entertainer as much as he was an athlete. As an entertainer, he found himself venturing into deeper political meanings behind entertainment. And as a politician, he carries a saying that he has used from the very start: 'WE ARE ALL ONE.'"

I'm not so sure about that.

Nina was obviously in distress, it's not hard to translate "I can't breathe!"
And yet, not one person went to help her? Not only that, when Michiru was trying to help her, nobody went to help, nobody showed her the opening for the tank.

Even after the two got out, nobody did a thing to help either of them. They all just watched and shrugged.
I think there are those who are ultra-violent against the beastmen, but there is another kind of prejudice too that we saw here, where people are just indifferent, ignorant, or both. They feel as if the beastmen are just animals or oddities, like the ones you see at the zoo or aquarium. You like them, you see them have fun and enjoy it, but if one dies in their tank, you just feel a little sad and then go on with your day.

I think that's what we saw here.

You can easily just make some headcanon that they were too drunk, confused or shocked to react, so not that bad. The girl clearly felt bad about her mistake.

Not gonna lie, Michiru looks cuter as a tanuki rather than as human.

Honestly, can't decide who is dumber here: Michiru for thinking there wouldn't be any problem, Nina for being so unrealistically naive or that host chick who thought it was okay to trap her guest in a tank.

Overall, I wasn't really convinced by the narrative but it wasn't exactly a bad episode in the end. Just average.

I was kinda confused by what was happening with the tank thing.;; Some people are saying they were too drunk to understand what what going on... or really
I think they were also trying to get across the idea that as it is now, beastmen and humans just can't stay together even if they accept each other-- further emphasized by what the girls in the bathroom said. I think they were trying to get that across, but perhaps there was a different way to go about it.
Still, nice episode.

I think you're right. That part of the scene was showing while there wasn't necessarily malice between beastmen and humans, they don't really understand what each other need. Even if she was an actual dolphin, they need air too since they are mammals.

In conclusion, not sure if the party girl was misinformed, or just dumb.

I was also confused by the tank scene. I thought the people were going to kill Nina or protest when Michiru broke the tank but they just stood there like they were too high.

Nina was kind of annoying but I understand that she was bored being stuck in Animacity and wanted to try something new. Well, she got her wish. I wonder if her appearance on social media in the human mainland would cause tension between them.

Still curious about obvious blonde villain. He needs more screentime.

Michiru was able to transform back into her human form, huh? I wasn't expecting that to happen so soon. ^_^;

Either way, it's good that she can transform back to her old self, but I did enjoy her time with Nina. despite being the daughter of that gangster, Flip, she's really sweet. Eventually, both girls made the boat trip to the nearby human town so that they could attend a party, which Nina was invited to.

I was expecting something nasty to happen when Nina transformed into her beast form by accident, but the partygoers weren't too bothered by this at all. However, they did seem to be dumb, though, as when Nina got tired, she was placed in a separate tank of water, thinking that she could breathe underwater. Talk about idiotic. >.<

Either way, I liked this episode overall. The cake made my Michiru's mother at the end was a rather emotional moment, I must say. =3

Ok, it was just development for Michiru, I think she and Nina became friends, so it could lead to an interesting relationship. So Michiru is different, well, we already knew that, she can stretch her arms, glow and… wait, is that the gum-gum fruit. Nina is a pretty girl, but knowing his father’s job, she could expect a lot from what humans can do, she just needs to be careful. Flip killing someone and Shirou being unable to help him, that was rude.

Finally, more answers that were much needed. They explain how Beastmen can change into their human form and vice versa but still do not explain how humans can detect them if they are in human form. Looks like that the girl was drunk or misinformed by putting Nina in a tank, my issue is that this situation felt anticlimactic, without any anticipation. How did she get there? it's one of the many mysteries in this episode.

It was obvious that there was going to be trouble and I'm surprised that the mayor would not prefer to have Michiru in custody due to her rare condition rather than being able to leave and enter the city whenever she wanted.

Now Michiru just learnt how to changed to human form. Idk if that was a good move or bad by her. But at least, she just befriended with the sister of Animacity Gangstar really fun to watch. Yet, the explanations about gen of beastmen just reveal here, and like i say previously, Michiru, and Ogami might be the real some Brand New Animal referring Sylvasta statements. Despite naives personality Michiru had, which is somehow irked me, and most of the audience, her adventure toward beastmen lives and Ogami actions must be better on the future episodes.

I like the fact that Michiru makes friends like Nina, and also that she can return to her human form.
It is good that the creators of this anime not only make Michiru the protagonist because yes, it is good that they present their concerns and their mental state, as when in the end he sees and ends up reading the message from his mother.
