Of course we'd get some actual dumbbell training in a show with the word itself in its title lol

Gotta balance out that body and muscles!

Tachibana sensai is here with a nice introduction.
Her reaction at was funny when she found out her students where training in the same gym she wanted to train at.
Still Hibiki's misunderstandings where even funnier, it would have been easier for Tachibana to say she was cosplaying.

Dumbbell curls I believe are the most common strength training exercise people do at the gym.
Its also one of those exercises that is easy to "egolift".
It was accurate to see the whole dancing with dumbbells routine as well.

Hibiki having a cheat day?! Oh, no, no, no, no. If you give her the option to have a day, let alone a meal she'll go over it and that diet will cancel out those gains.

Tachibana's death glare, tho xD

And I really cracked up when I saw those guys on the bench only wearing speedos.

I'm not really fond of the that they only presented the approach of eating 5 times a day(with snacks), tho. Too one sided. To eat more often may be helpful if you have trouble to gain weight and pro bodybuilders (who have to eat huge amounts, have to perform etc.) usually handle it like that as well. But for a girl that wants to lose weight it wouldn't be wrong to do some intermittent fasting. I'm dieting myself now and practice it too. Sometimes I even only eat one big meal a day, granted it has all the macros and micros I need and I'm doing fine so far. I lost a good amount of fat while still keeping my strength.

The Fist of the North Star reference was really funny haha.

Really enjoyable episode again. Although I'm resting today, I still like feel to hit the gym :D

aren't "shoulder front presses" usually done sitting down? they're already pretty inefficient, so why do a standing front press instead of just an overhead press

Great episode!

Finally, we’re on to the Dumbbells and it totally delivered! Machio’s ‘standardised’ 50 kg Dumbbells are a killer for sure xD. Sensei falls for Machio too xD but those misunderstandings surely didn’t help her cause. ‘Hardcore Hobby’ - Cosplay to BL addict, lol it’s still on a pretty bad spectrum if you ask me. Some hilarious glares though. Muscle King scenes were hilarious too. Moreover, we got some interesting dieting tutorials this episode too.

While I was browsing here, I saw that there was a QR code in Tachibana's card. Unfortunately, the quality of the image posted above wouldn't be good enough if I resized it, so I had to scan the QR code from the episode itself. At around 10:15, there is a closeup of the pile of photos of Tachibana's cosplays. You can clearly see a QR code from Yuria Riko's card. If you scan it with a QR scanner, you'll find that it's an address, and more specifically this one: https://dumbbell-anime.jp . I think it's an interesting way to promote the website of the anime.

Many sports anime have gotten people out of the house, and I do want to say that there was another anime about exercising (Ani tore EX) which did get some folks to exercise as well. Here's a link to an article on some of the folks who were inspired to exercise because of it: https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/02/06/anime-de-training-ex-shows-the-results-of-otaku-who-got-fit-with-anime

It was an okay anime short, BUT I kinda feel like this anime has it beat when it comes to being able to reach and appeal to a larger demographic. And unlike sports anime, Dumbell has a pretty specific aim at exercise which I feel has been able to motivate people. Ani tore EX had a pretty mellow, moe vibe, so I feel like there wasn't as much enthusiasm. Dumbell does have a lot of passion and enthusiasm though, so even if you don't quite care for WHY some of the characters are at the gym, you can get behind the idea of working out. The anime has found ways to make working out seem fun, positive, and beneficial. They really get people pumped to actually move-- to get up and go.

I think that's where Dumbell's strength lies and where I feel it might just motivate more people than Ani tore EX. It's used the dynamic pull of anime to pump up its audience while Ani tore EX focused on a pretty niche, chill audience. So who knows! It might reach more people than we think!

Too bad it's hotter than Satan's asshole and people might give up if they even start, which really sucks. I feel like summer's one of my favorite times to work out but I know some people really can't take it. Ani tore came out in Autumn when the heat's not as bad. Hopefully people won't see the heat as an obstacle though!

Hahahaha, no doubt, this is the comedy anime of the season 😂. If you liked Grand Blue, you should see this anime.

I'm glad you do not abuse, or show almost nothing, of the ecchi, and focus more on the training tips and comedy moments. That makes it more fun and interesting 👌.
Of course, it's one of my favorite animes of the season, I love it 😁.

I like the character of Professor Tachibana. It will be funny to see how he tries to hide his cosplayer pastime from his students throughout the series.
I laughed a lot with their reactions throughout the episode. I did not stop laughing. It looks like Hibiki, LOL 😂😂😂.

Ps: Machio is a clear example of someone who takes seriously his role as cosplay xD.

Today's episode was very stimulating, we finally met the sensei, Satomi is quite attractive and best of all she is cosplayer and very cute, finally she ends up joining Silverman Gym thanks to the good Machio and her appearance.

Again Machio and his segment of exercises made me laugh a lot, interesting to know the correct way to use the dumbbells, this accompanied by the well received fanservice on the part of Akemi and Satomi, I will keep it in mind from now on the way to excercise with dumbbells.

Ayaka came back in this episode and she and Akemi taught Hibiki how to have a good diet, in this case a diet of bodybuilder, but even so Hibiki lacks a lot of discipline to carry out a diet and strength of will, I think that I will take as reference for my meals of the day.

Satomi was able to meet her goal of losing weight so she can assist to her cosplay event, but to her bad luck her students are in the event and also Machio, I swear I could not stop laughing all the time that Machio stole the attention of all the photographers and Satomi could not believe it, for the luck of Satomi the girls did not find out about her love of cosplay, but now Hibiki believes that her sensei is a BL fan.
Today Machio had two segments of exercises, the second was on how to make the press forntal and today Hibiki was the model, I found it very adorable to see Hibiki nervous while she was doing the front press.
Post-credit exercises were to my liking, it was a group exercise with all the girls and Machio, today they reviewed the dumbbell repetitions without using dumbbells, all the girls used different objects and seeing Ayaka doing the repetitions motivated me a lot.
Someone noticed that in the magazines that Satomi and Akemi put in the bags, there was one of the girls from the anime Tada-kun wa koi, the girl who was a model and hid it from her classmates, I think her name was Hinako.

I would't say that it is completely wrong, it just depends on what you are going for and what works best for you. A lot of the elements that were present are correct, but it leaves out things like Intermittent Fasting which can be helpful if done correctly and it works for your specific metabolic rate and body type.

Tachibana-sensei being a cosplayer sure was a surprise, but a very pleasant one if I'm honest. I really like her but Ayaka is still best girl so far.

Pretty entertaining episode overall. The misunderstandings were pretty funny and that "Hokuto no Ken" reference was great as well. Though it was a shame Machio didn't say that memorable phrase in the end.

I don't really want to start a nutrition argument here, but I think you're misunderstanding.

Intermittant Fasting is not what was being shown by Hibiki's "lunch". With intermittant fasting, you don't eat X amount of hours overnight, depending on how long you decide your fast is, and then you resume eating your normal meals for lunch and dinner (and snacking) within your calorie goal, and then begin fasting again. In other words, you'd stop eating at say, 8pm, and not eat again until noon. At noon you'd have lunch, maybe a snack in the afternoon, and then dinner before 8pm, at which point you'd stop eating again.

What Hibiki was doing was calorie-binging in one meal, enough calories for an entire 24-hour cycle. The show was absolutely not wrong about what it explains about why this is wrong.

Since I'm from Latin America, I tend to watch anime with spanish subs. I guess, unlike in the english version, the translators didn't put much effort in finding the right words in spanish to make the reference more accurate.

1) This anime has not gotten me to start exercising.
2) It's so over the top!
3) As best as I can tell, the information provided seems reliable in regard to various things, except for The Muscle King cosplay... which was a lovely tribute indeed.

While not one I've gone back to re-watch, Fist of the North Star was one of the first anime I ever saw, back in 1988. 6th generation VHS tapes, non-subbed or dubbed. Only saw part of it. But it's a fond memory for that reason.

They missed a bet when showing the books being placed in the bags for use as dumbbells... some of them should have been dojinshi.

Which still doesn't necessarily lead to higher fat gain, as digestion slows down to manage all the food. This show is now basically "Bro Science: The Animation". They are getting some things right, but most wrong. I hope nobody takes the stuff they "teach" seriously

So NOT JUST students Hibiki and Akemi, but even Tachibana-sensei joins the fray of exercise. This is life! Exercising is love.

And as usual, Machio steals her heart, THE EXACT SAME WAY as Hibiki. And...she is into cosplay??? Wha...???

Lots of health tips from Akemi which help for those aiming to cut down weight for eating appropriate food! That helps. Plus do some research with it. Machio's training sessions are a dime a dozen, though similar workouts are abundant.

Machio with the "Fist of the North Star" cosplay, that is a classic! HAHA! All the poses.

Personal trainers don't know anything, strength coaches do. If you want to blow 300 dollars a month and get zero gains sign up for a PT.

Starvation mode isn't a real thing, whne he you don't consume food your body increases the production of grehlin and leptin but these don't cause you to balloon up, they simply induce hunger so long as you fight off the hunger you're fine. Further the lowered basal metabolic rate can be countered through the use of intermittent fasting which increasing the efficiency that your body burns calories.

The idea of eating a bunch of little meals a day started with roiders trying to meet their calorie goals, the Rock for example needs to consume 5000+ calories a day and in order to do so as a roider he needs to eat often otherwise he wont hit his limit. It's complete broscience and is actually the opposite of what is true.

The thing about insulin was true but it's effects are not, you gain weight from overeating calories dont magically transmute into fat because of the window of time you ate in. This is why asians have no idea how to fucking diet and you have kpop stars eating paper and cucumbers to lose weight instead of simply counting calories.
