Wakaki Tamiki tweeted in his twitter (@angelfrench) that the length of Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai TV series depends on the reactions of the viewers (i.e. the sales of the DVD and other media).

ryohayate2409sa: @angelfrench Is it one season long?
Wakaki: It's up to the reactions. I wonder how many episodes it will take until we see Tenri.
DiceKatKobe: @angelfrench What do you mean by "reactions"? Should we send emails to the TV company?
Wakaki: Frankly, the sales of the DVD determine everything.

Wakaki is anxious about the poor environment of the anime creators. "In the case of manga, the author can improve the quality of the work and make money by his/her private effort, but anime creators' efforts never pay.", he said. "I've learned how hard the anime production is, so I'm seriously thinking about how to sell it."

Hahah, so it's pretty much "if you don't buy it's your fault we had to cancel at episode 12 with an incomplete ending"? That's retarded. You plan on a couple of episodes (like 12), produce them and if sales are good then you make more. Sounds like they want it to be the next Bleach/One Piece/Naruto but without sufficient funding or fanbase thus pressing the existing fans to get the dvds.

ref. Nyan Koi's case
In the final episode of Nyan Koi!, the characters implied the possibility of the second season. However, the PR staff of Pony Canyon immediately tweeted that the second season hadn't been fixed yet. At a live event of Nyan Koi anime staff held in last January Producer Tanaka announced that it's unlikely that the second season will be made. The serialization of Nyan Koi! manga has been suspended due to the illness of the author since this April.

Well considering that their last anime was the massive commercial failure known as House of Five Leaves and the anime they made before that (Seiken no Blacksmith) only enjoyed limited success, I don't blame them for being a bit cautious.

This will probably one of those overrated anime. I heard it's not quite as generic as it seems, but I'm not keen on even the more original entries in this genre (Haruhi Suzumiya and to a lesser extent, Bakemonogatari)

meh, probably not going to be a good anime if this is the mentality that drives it. I understand it like Whoomp does, they are trying to force it to be as long as possible to make as much money as possible even if it gets messed up and has an incomplete ending...

who would pay for such a thing? Not I for sure

Fine, but just don't let them make some retarded "original" anime ending. Besides it's nothing new, it's obvious that length of the series depends on sales. It's just probably the first time creator said it so openly.

the cost of producing an anime to the cost of publishing a manga is a big difference...as quoted:

and if the studio was doing badly with their previous works, then this maybe their only option....nothing in the world is free and these people have families who they need to feed and the last thing they want is to claim for bankruptcy like TAC just to please fans who may not even buy their merchandise

About the length...oh HELL YEAH I'd want nothing more than this series having as many ep's as there are chapters in the manga atm

What a sly business tactic. Still I would like them to adapt all the manga but if they start making crappy filler then screw that.

Whether I am happy or not about this depends on how well they adapt the manga.

yeah i know all that what i was saying is that it's so unfair, and that it would be soo much better if more anime had their length determined by the manga they're based on.

if it won't have seasons, and will just be one single release, it will have somewhere between 24 and 26 episodes just like nura no mago, taking into consideration the number of chapters so far.

There won't be any filler capturing arc, imo. PV only had none-filler material girls. But I still need Sora's episode so badly. God, it was hilarious, since I really know how he will feel. (god damn VN bugs)

Even with a job and sufficient funds, there are very few on this forum that would buy it seeing how japanese dvds/blu-rays go for about $50 for 2 episodes. I was merely highlighting that it is possible for him to buy it and that I think he should if he urges other people to do so. Otherwise it's just being a hypocrite.

Life's ain't fair. Why anime like One Piece gets 460+ episodes and still ongoing when anime like TWGOK length is decided by the DVD sales?

well, i have to agree with him to a point. you simply cant produce an anime and continue with it if you aren't going to make any money. in the end it is still a business. especially in the current economic climate, its probably a smart move to let everyone know their stance.

I was talking in the long run. TWGOK looks like the kind of thing that would be popular in japan. Unlikely, I know but let me dream.
Oh, yeah...Sora's episode. I don't know how they could stretch that into an episode but hell we need it! I would love to see the latest arc animated. It's one of the best arcs in the manga yet. But it's not going to happen....sadly.

Are you serious? It's obvious that One Piece is still ongoing because it's popular. It's the same with any other anime. If something is really popular, they will continue it as long as they can earn money. It will be the same with TWGOK, if the DVD sales are good (=popular), the anime will go on.

It's a real shame because this series would be the perfect anime. It's just so fucking funny so it's just sad to see it getting cut down to be something like a 12 episode series.

no 2 episodes in any show live action/anime/or whatever, no matter how good the episodes are would get me to spend an equivalent of close to 70 dollars, i could buy a game for that and get hours of play time.

i hope the series goes at least past kusunoki's arc so i can see hakua

I wish there was a way besides international imports in order to directly support the studio and/or staff working on KamiNomi's anime adaptation. The series just gets so good later on (bar some filler captures), especially when
and
show up.

Will I fall in love someday? I wonder?

:| You know, I just think they have such great potential to be a great business but they just have shitty business ideas.

For Example: Selling two episodes for $50 is wayyyyy too high. They won't be able to even compete with the other market because no one will have the incentive to buy two episodes for $50. If you can buy a series of an anime show in America for what, $10 - $50, who the hell in their right mind would buy a whole whopping two episodes for $50. :| If they want customers, they better go down on their prices, otherwise, they'll end up losing to their competition. $5 - $10 for two episodes sounds much more reasonable than $50. Of course, if some of us are filthy rich (Which I highly doubt :| ) then what's going to happen is that everyone is going to see this series fall short.

Also, I'd advise these anime industries to get either new marketers or business managers :\
