SPOILERS

for most of the movie I was feeling like it was a 9/10 but that first scene where he walks past his mom watching the news very early on kind of took me out of it like "there's no way that's what they go with for random background dialogue". then it was just so jarring that it actually played out that way that it completely took me out of the story even though I was pretty immersed by that point. like it was almost comical that there was such overt "foreshadowing" which killed the vibe for me. I get that people may feel the whole sick heroine trope is played out but I think the plot would have been virtually unaffected if they stuck with it and it would've worked better. idk how to describe it really but it was clear what the end of the movie would be like from the opening of the movie so choosing such an unorthodox way of progressing to that point felt unnecessary. still a great movie tho

if you like this movie, try watching an Indian movie called "Ek villain" it's a story about a psychopath and a girl who has few days left and a man who was in mafia but fell in love with her

I really liked the whole premise of the movie, so much so that it becomes the second best anime movie I've ever seen!!! I also bought the Light Novel and it is simply brilliant, I really like the story and how the two main characters get attached to each other!!! ABSOLUTE CINEMA!!!! ใ€Ž10/10ใ€

personally, I liked what they did. It was kind of shocking to see the heroine go out in such an unexpected way

Yeah her dying through accident caught me by surprised too. I still think it would have been better if she dued because of her illness but it's still a great movie

I thought it was a good emphasis that you never know what life will bring and when it will end. Even though you might have an idea of when it'll end it can always end much sooner than you expect. It also broke up the steady buildup of sadness that may have been a bit decensitizing by the end with an even more sad shock twist.

The foreshadowing can also be seen as something that will be relevant since it was a bit out there but that still didn't really prepare you for it happening beyond the MC's control or perception.

It was actually the most exciting part of the movie for me. From the start, writer was preparing for the death of heroine by repeating the same thing again and again that she will die.

But even after all that, her death surprised everyone, audience as well as characters. It was sad but great at same time.

I think its something that usually would be laughably bad, but actually really works within the context of the story. Her main belief was that you could die any day anyways, sick or not. That you never know what life could bring you. Thats how she coped with knowing she was going to die, and in the end she was right. I think its a powerful message to live every day to your fullest

I agree, it's like an unnecessary spoiler at the beginning.

I feel like that's exactly what made the story better for me.

honestly, I liked the ending and kind of expected it. It would've been odd to foreshadow her illness, expecting her to die of her illness and she actually does.

Well maybe not weird but I had a feeling that there was more to it and that she probably would either be fine or wouldn't die of her illness but of something else which is what happened in the film.

Overall I liked it. it's a unique plot that the author gave some thought about rather than just a generic she has an illness, she dies of it. Whilst some people didn't like it, it hits the feels more the fact that her life was taken away sooner than we anticipated. Most people expected her illness to get the better of her, I think that's one of the reasons this film is such an emotional one.

Either way, both endings would've been fine in my opinion but the latter wouldn't have had as much of an impact persay because we expected it.

I think the message behind the movie, specifically the moment you're referring to, is that people sometimes die earlier than they're supposed to. I think that line was also said in the movie, but I could be wrong. it's been a while since I've watched it. Anyways, I do like this "deeper meaning", though I also get why it'd seem like an odd decision to make. It came sorta out of nowhere, and some people liked it while others didn't.

Best part for me, it tells you a message that life is short and you should enjoy it while you can
