January of 2018, about a year after I got introduced to the medium. I was in 11th grade. I also watched Mirai Nikki and Durarara and finished watching Hunter x Hunter (2011) and playing Persona 5 within that same month IIRC.

I remember fondly draining all my mental energy on watching anime and falling behind in school as a result.

Around june or july of 2018. I think I marathoned all of season 1 in a week. It was something that I haven't seen before when it came to the fantasy genre but it was a welcomeed surprise. I wasn't expecting many scenes of tragedy and you really empathise with thr main character. From time to time I called it "The Passion of Subaru".

I still haven't catched up with the rest of the anime after the first half of season 2 tho.

Watched it weekly from the beginning.

Thought it was cool at first, but nothing special, ending up reading Arc 4 (season 2 content) in 2018 and it has been my favorite series since.

I still have gripes with the series but none have given me the same peaks of emotion. The intricate lore and psychology (in the novels) have been like an endless gold mine to me.

I think there’s definitely a lot of survivorship bias based on the fact that people who started when it was new are less likely to be anime fans and therefore using mal.

I watched in I think 2022, I saw Isekai quartet and thought "Oh, I love Youjo Senki so why not go for some more Isekai?" And decided on RE:Zero since I liked the check-point idea. The excuse of "I need to see the next episode of RE:Zero" saved me from ending life.

I started watching it 24, it just kinda flew under my radar for years because I didn't think it was anything special and just saw it as another basic isekai at the time but I wound up just not having anything interesting to watch so I gave it a try to see what the hype is about because I knew it was a well established series. Oh boy did I quickly discover that it was anything but basic. Looking back, I'm also glad I started this late because I had more content to binge and didn't have to wait for S3 for too long.
