Well, at least she tried; that’s already a lot coming from the mother-in-law.

Whoaaaaaaa shits getting serious now I’m all here for it WOWOWOW the ending shocked me when everything went red bc how is Miyo’s dad doing this? And he looks like he’s a strong ass problem fr, finally the demon plot is gonna take over majority of the show now🤩

AYO THEY KISSED!?!?!? They finally did it and I’m so happy for them that shit caught me off guard bc I thought we weren’t gonna get one until the last episode but here we are 3 episodes in and we got a kiss🥹🙌🏽

The Communion cult blew our boy is he fine? Are the rest fine?? They can’t be taken out of the story this quick already ;(

I said last episode that I wanted to see how this studio would animated a fight and OH MY GOD I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED MAN the father son duo was so cold man the fire magic animation for Kiyoka was so lit (no pun intended haha) and his Dad’s ice magic animation was so good as well like as much as I love the romance parts in this show I fucking LOVE the demon plot bc it gives us fight scenes with great animation, I can’t wait to see more fights fr😫🔥🔥

Seems like Kiyoka’s mom is just a Tsundere but like a realy nasty one and tbh when she was giving Miyo that ribbon most of the harsh words she was saying I kept thinking “LMAO you totally mean the opposite of what you say girl🙄😭” she’s basically living opposite on repeat towards Miyo, just glad she somewhat changed but still she gotta change that attitude just a tinyyyyyy bit more🤏🏽😭🤦🏽‍♂️😭

And from this point on, it's PLOT, PLOT, PLOT.

There are so many emotional moments that the anime skipped, but considering all the irrational comments from last week's episode here, X, and Reddit, I'm now glad this anime will cover up to LN 6.

It's good that there's some visualisation of how the young man was exorcised. There wasn't any description in the LN.

Damn, they skipped the family dinner. Still, Miyo looks really beautiful in that kimono. There were supposed to be more tsundere moments for the mother-in-law, but I'll take what we have right now.

And the most anticipated kiss is now a reality. They could have lengthen it if we are not rushing the events. Then again, the comments on Miyo acting as a servant is frustrating.

The point of this arc is to demonstrate how Miyo is different to how she was in season 1. I get it. She is not progressing as much as we would like to, but there is some progress contrary to loudmouths here who are claiming that Miyo has regressed. Jesus.

ETA: In defence of Fuyu, the reason why she wanted her would be daughter in law to work as a servant is to humble them. She expects them to be spoiled. Thus, someone like Kaya would be weeded out and tap out of the engagement.

But as a blessing in disguise, all the abuse Miyo had experienced in the Saimori household has made her immune, so to speak, to whatever menial tasks Fuyu wanted. It was not emphasized in Episode 2 that the way the Kudou household treats their servants feels heavenly compared to the Saimori household, which is why Miyo complimented Fuyu. Too bad this did not come across that way, and many felt Miyo was being stupid.
@patkarunungan I don't think she has regressed but more so isn't progressing as much as I would like. She is legit kissing the feet o a person who has no interest in her and is outright shitting on her. What I don't like about this even if it was in the LN is that you are having the main character go through the same character arc again. That is just bad writing and makes me seem like the writer doesn't understand drama and character progression. Miyo doesn't have to be a "girlboss" but she can t least tell this lady to fuck right off.

Also that rationale and reasoning for why Furyu is a super bitch for no reason because Miyo isn't from a well off family is fucking stupid as hell. "Here work as a servant so I can show power over you and control you." That's legit just emotional abuse. You ain't humbling no one but are going on a power trip.Miyo hasn't been made immune if she is apologizing and going along with this bullshit. I like this show and you're just being a fan but let's not defense extremely poor writing.

I don't think she has regressed but more so isn't progressing as much as I would like.

That's literally what I said and we both agree. What I had in mind are some people who thought she regressed.

She is legit kissing the feet o a person who has no interest in her and is outright shitting on her.

Unlike when she started, she believes she can handle her. She is not doing this out of helplessness.

What I don't like about this even if it was in the LN is that you are having the main character go through the same character arc again.

I was also worried about this. But when I read it as well as watched it, how Miyo reacts to this arc compared to when she was in the Saimori estate is night-and-day different. This is why I've learned to appreciate what this arc is supposed to do in the grand scheme of things.

That is just bad writing and makes me seem like the writer doesn't understand drama and character progression.

I admit I don't consider myself a good judge on the specifics of good writing or not. But Miyo has great 'character progression' and since this season will be rushing the story — it will cover volumes 3 to 6 — this will be clearer at the end of the season.

I can see that you've only seen Episode 3 when you made this reply. People are already seeing progress by Episode 5, and I'm sure they will love Miyo's progress in Episode 6, let alone at the end of the season when she had to....

Miyo doesn't have to be a "girlboss" but she can t least tell this lady to fuck right off.

You're contradicting yourself. That is the definition of being a girlboss or at least someone with a strong personality.

It's challenging for Miyo to display such behaviour due to her weak personality. The good news is that she eventually did. Just watch the following episodes.

Also that rationale and reasoning for why Furyu is a super bitch for no reason because Miyo isn't from a well off family is fucking stupid as hell.

What are you talking about? Compared to peasants, the Saimori family is well off, which is why Fuyu was expecting someone like Kaya who is so spoiled.

You may be thinking that the Saimori family relative to the Kudou family is not as prestigious. That we can both agree.

"Here work as a servant so I can show power over you and control you." That's legit just emotional abuse. You ain't humbling no one but are going on a power trip.

Again, Fuyu was assuming that she is dealing with someone full of pride. Hence, she felt justified with her actions. This is why I said that her stated purpose is to 'humble' this person. But she did not know that Miyo is not the prideful person she thought she was. Miyo had so much shit in the Saimori household. As such, whatever ordeal Fuyu tried to inflict doesn't hold candle to the abuse she had experienced.

I can agree with you that Fuyu's actions have gone beyond humbling the other person. It's bordering on emotional abuse, and perhaps emotional abuse itself.

Miyo hasn't been made immune if she is apologizing and going along with this bullshit.

I disagree. When I wrote she was immune, I was thinking of her soul not being crushed by the ordeal. Also, whatever physical tasks she is subjected to in the Kudou villa is not as difficult compared to what Miyo was subjected to in the Saimori household. In that context, I say that in a sense, Miyo has become immune to the ordeal. The anime has not made this point clear, but it's clear in the LN.

I can agree with you that Miyo's habit of apologising and 'going along with this bullshit' is something that she better leave behind.

I like this show and you're just being a fan but let's not defense extremely poor writing.

I am defending this show from people who did not understand the point of this arc. Perhaps this point needs to be tatooed in their dicks. If the old Miyo felt helpless and hopeless when she was treated as a servant by the Saimori family, the Miyo in this arc is doing this gladly. Contrary to Fuyu's expectation that Miyo's soul will be crushed, she gladly went through it thereby winning the admiration of the servants in the Kudou household.

Now, both of us may not agree with Miyo reprising the role of a servant. I agree it's not needed had her personality been strong enough not to go along with it.

The point is, and this should be incontrovertible, there is a contrast between Miyo back then and Miyo now.

@patkarunungan Line by line. Overall thank you for the kind respond.

Anyone saying she is regressing don't know what they're talking about.

I get that but you gotta have some self respect for yourself.

I'll wait until I get to the recent episode to see if that is how I feel. I want to see if that opinion holds.

Yeah, I'll be catching up before the Super bowl. I'm currently watching the newest episode of Medalist and then I'll blow through the next two episodes to be fully caught up. I was behind on this one as since I'm finishing a Masters I can't pick up a ton of anime.

No that isn't what a girlboss is. Having a backbone doesn't make you a girlboss. Fujiko form Lupin is a girl boss from the start she makes clear she won't be push around and she can take care of herself. What I want from Miyo isn't to slap her and curse her out but to say, "Yeah....I'm not doing that." She can even say, "Respectfully ma'am I came here to enjoy my time in my lover's home and his family. I'm not here to do any work." She can simply say no thank you. I'm not contradicting myself here but a simple no does wonders here. That would show progress that she isn't a pushover. I'm happy to see this is being address and she isn't that. I'm not expecting her to be Fujiko or Ada Wong but an Ashley from Re4 Remake or a Sherry from RE6 isn't asking for much. You can write soft spoken women who are still strong emotional so they aren't being shove around. I'm just being fan of active main characters who are not relying on others who are strong rather it be mentally and physically.

OH right that is what I meant. I know her family isn't poor but she is legit treated like a commoner like Rei from I'm in Love with a Female Villianess anime was. I know it's the time period as wealth status and nobility were big during that time.

This doesn't help either but in the English dub she legit tells her son, "Hey when you bring her around here next time have more control of her." Look, I know it is the time period but the show and has established and made clear that Lord Kudo doesn't see Miyo as an object. She isn't a pet for her to speak like that is just awful. All the credit to Fuyu's VA in the dub as she did a good job playing her but holy shit that is so scummy and to play happy music and to see him smiling is just awful as she legit just compared your lady to a pet.

I don't know the discourse of season 1 of Miyo in season 1 but to me I got all of that was something for her to overcome as they were her enemy to defeat. I didn't knock Miyo here as she was legit dealing with a lot of abuse. Like season 1 did a good job taking the angle of the abuse story. I get what you're saying is that she is gladly accepting but a better way to show growth here is for her to politely decline and kill her with kindness. Like she was able to get slap for simply enjoying cleaning. That isn't right. I don't see the difference but an awful trying the evil mother angle but forgot to write the part Miyo checks her ass to where she learns maybe she is being too stuck up. We shouldn't have scenes of her being called into her room just to be retarded for simply existing. I look forward to the future episodes to see if this is address.

1. Thank you for you response. I don't know some of the characters you mentioned but I get the main point. I know Fujiko.

2. The English subtitles had her saying to Kiyoka, "Next time, when you bring her here, I want to see her more confident." I am appalled at that line from the English VA.

To be fair, it's an anime original line to compensate for the omissions.

I remember in the LN after the exorcism, Fuyu asked Miyo,

I can't remember Miyo's reply but she was quite humble and respectful.

3. In a way, what you want and what the anime Fuyu want is the same: for Miyo to be confident and grow a backbone.

@patkarunungan Okay I really like the dub but I should note that wasn't word for word but she does tell him she should have more control of her the next time she sees her. That shit kind of made my blood boil as who fucking says that about another women. I get the time period. I think both kind of mess up and just wanted to be obtuse about it. I hate when adaptions omit reasonable lines to add very dumb ones that give you the wrong idea of the character.

The LN line sounds a lot better. I think the anime just got a little too happy on making her cruel. Though your last line is ironic as that is something I was hoping t osee at the start of the season.
