Just because it has Anya doesn't translate to "oh, it has a cute little girl character in it therefore it must be suitable for my 6-7 year old daughter." This is the same thing as thinking that Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller would be OK for your 8 year old to read it because your 8 years old love Batman animated series, and has all the Batman action figure and because the comic has Batman in it, it means it's OK for your kids to read when that's not exactly the scenario you want your young kids to be reading.
This is one of the best answers I’ve seen so far. I’d like to expand on your thoughts a bit.
I agree, I’d say it’s relatively family friendly, but I wouldn’t put this on in front of 8 year olds. I’d say at the absolute youngest 12 is probably a good age, but obviously that’s up to parents to decide what they think is appropriate. It’s a show that is definitely aimed at teens but can be enjoyed by adults. The innuendo/sexual references/adult humor, swearing, violence, alcoholism, and hints about some pretty heinous crimes are enough for me to say that Spy x Family is definitely not a kids show. However, I think that it is definitely on the tame side and is pretty fun to watch with an older family (younger teens-adults). There’s almost no fan service and the stuff that is there is very mild. The violence (especially in season 2) can be a bit much at times, but it isn’t Vinland Saga levels of brutal or anything. The movie’s a little weird (it has an insanely drawn out poop joke that gets a bit uncomfortable), but it isn’t at all relevant to the main story so you can 100% skip it and I guarantee you won’t miss any sort of plot or character development. It’s just a fun side story.
I’d say if you’re a parent who heard this was a good one for the family, watch it yourself without the kids (It’s a little under 40 episodes and a movie at this point); determine whether or not your children are old enough for it; and then watch it again with them. If that’s too much trouble then just don’t let them watch it. You’re the parent. If you’re unsure if something is appropriate for your children and you don’t have time to vet it, then don’t show it to them.
Anyway that’s just some of my thoughts on it. I love Spy x Family and the manga is starting to get interesting so I’m excited to see what they’ll do with the anime in the coming years.
