It's family friendly, but not upto the quality of media I'd feel good watching with them.

Something like Natsume's Book of Friends or Mushishi would do fine.

The fact that you see the "yor and yuri relationship" as a "thing" tells me that you are probably unable to watch a perfectly normal trope like the spoiled little brother that loves his sister too much and not make it an issue completely unprovoked.

If you showed that to any well adjusted person you met randomly they would go: "hehe that's funny, it's like he's her dad", and not, "umm guys? that's like incest. this show is problematic. they should not show incest to children. japan is like so depraved".

No, he's just like a little kid going "I won't give my sister to you" because he wants her to be his big sister forever, which is childish and therefore funny since he's an adult. If you see that and you think incest, you're what is known as a libtard or a tourist, and the fact that anime wasn't gatekept from you was a mistake.

tldr. just watch western safe shit, like that movie where a narco became trans that's winning the academy awards, because that's fine and anime is not.

The fact you don’t see you’re embarrassing yourself by writing this manifesto is mind blowing to me, I think you should spend less time watching anime and being transphobic

if by transphobic you mean thinking that the movie sucked in every way, from the murderer escaping accountability by "becoming" a woman, to the absurdly shitty musical performance, then sure, call me whatever you want.

I felt embarrassed trying to watch that movie, not writing 4 paragraphs (which apparently make a manifesto nowadays) explaining why spy x family is family friendly and the academy award winning picture this year isn't.

100% a safe anime. (This was literally the first anime I watched so I don’t think it’s very inappropriate.)

100% safe, you put it for 10 minutes and everyone is already sleeping, so you can swap to something better.

If you're thinking about putting this on for the kids, please don't. Just because it has Anya doesn't translate to "oh, it has a cute little girl character in it therefore it must be suitable for my 6-7 year old daughter." This is the same thing as thinking that Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller would be OK for your 8 year old to read it because your 8 years old love Batman animated series, and has all the Batman action figure and because the comic has Batman in it, it means it's OK for your kids to read when that's not exactly the scenario you want your young kids to be reading.

This is one of the best answers I’ve seen so far. I’d like to expand on your thoughts a bit.

I agree, I’d say it’s relatively family friendly, but I wouldn’t put this on in front of 8 year olds. I’d say at the absolute youngest 12 is probably a good age, but obviously that’s up to parents to decide what they think is appropriate. It’s a show that is definitely aimed at teens but can be enjoyed by adults. The innuendo/sexual references/adult humor, swearing, violence, alcoholism, and hints about some pretty heinous crimes are enough for me to say that Spy x Family is definitely not a kids show. However, I think that it is definitely on the tame side and is pretty fun to watch with an older family (younger teens-adults). There’s almost no fan service and the stuff that is there is very mild. The violence (especially in season 2) can be a bit much at times, but it isn’t Vinland Saga levels of brutal or anything. The movie’s a little weird (it has an insanely drawn out poop joke that gets a bit uncomfortable), but it isn’t at all relevant to the main story so you can 100% skip it and I guarantee you won’t miss any sort of plot or character development. It’s just a fun side story.

I’d say if you’re a parent who heard this was a good one for the family, watch it yourself without the kids (It’s a little under 40 episodes and a movie at this point); determine whether or not your children are old enough for it; and then watch it again with them. If that’s too much trouble then just don’t let them watch it. You’re the parent. If you’re unsure if something is appropriate for your children and you don’t have time to vet it, then don’t show it to them.

Anyway that’s just some of my thoughts on it. I love Spy x Family and the manga is starting to get interesting so I’m excited to see what they’ll do with the anime in the coming years.

@Jediknight54 Yeah I want to add something alongside your thing. There are franchises that have both kid-friendly/kid-oriented and mature/adult-oriented stuff. I mean you have DC and Marvel having stuff aimed at older viewers and stuff that are for kids. I mean if you're a parent, you have to know which stuff from the franchise that are OK and acceptable for your kids, and which is not. I can tell you from watching DC Universe Animated Original Movie that almost 97% of them aren't exactly kid friendly or appropriate for kids, the one that are, I can list the name: Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Justice League: Doom, and Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons are the only 3 films that would be acceptable for young kids that have a bit of a mature mind to handle some level of violence.

Even Ultraman franchise despite being kid-friendly franchise had entries/titles that I thought even a 6-8 years old that might not be appropriate for good reasons (ie: Ultraman Taro for example wouldn't be something I would show to an 8 year old because of the violence being a little too graphic despite it's child-leaning orientation).

I mean I can name other franchises out there beside DC, Marvel, and Ultraman out there. So yeah, I applied this to Spy X Family too.
