I have always preferred Wit because it really made you enter the world of Aot, with Mappa it was a horrible experience, with bad cgi, poor direction and animations not up to par I have always regretted that Wit did not complete this adaptation. And you?

Wit's art direction and fluid animation are the clear standout. But I also like the switch to Mappa's grounded approach due to the dramatic, even darker shift in the story and characters, not to mention the time skip. The only things I didn't like about Mappa were how much they broke up the season into parts, how they handled some cgi (Wit occasionally had struggles here too), and how they tended to "fix" animation for the physical releases after airing. Unfortunately, this was all due to time crunch and overworked staff. If they were treated better, the final season would have been near flawless. And yet, despite everything going against them, Mappa's staff seems to almost always deliver—and the final season delivered.

both studios were pretty good. s4 part one was kinda lacking but considering the time restraints it didn’t really bother me. season 1 is probably the best looking season by far tho.

WIT, but idk if they had done the final season if I would like it more tbh. The story really rubbed me the wrong way with that self-victimizing genocidal maniac and how he was accepted for being that way. And then they justified it with an out-of-nowhere plot convenience for the happy ending. Like bruh, at least shame him to oblivion if that’s how he’s gonna be.

Wit was really good for the first 3 seasons, exploring the outside world. Mappa style was perfect for the tonal shift and dark, nihilistic theme of season 4.

WIT bc the art style was just better. the bold lineart made the show really stand out and MAPPA makes everything so much gloomier. and i guess that makes sense bc s4 is a monster of a season but it just doesn’t stand out as well as it used to

*sigh*....

Yeah thats like saying "Wouldn't every movie be better if Scorsese made it?" or "wouldn't it be great if every quarterback was like Brady?"

Yeah...I mean...sure
But that's not really a point or how the world works, you know. It's always easy to demand a "better" product/result after the fact....

Both did greatly, but it would have been batter if animation was like in a trailer for the last season. I recall how I watched that trailer for the first time, Eren got me bricked up with his majestic looks 😂
I was like damn is this Eren ?!
also, everything looked smoother, so the only thing I would have changed is mappas schedule of work.

CGI was bad only in part 1 due to the short time period but direction wasn't in any way bad. Episode 5, 6, 7, 14 & 15 still in the top 15 episodes of AOT. So Idk what you're talking about. Also CGI and animation in both part 2 & 3 of the finale was top notch, you're just hating.
Although I prefer WIT any day, Mappa did an excellent job.

I mean they’re both good but imo mappa fit the show way better than wit studio did.

Like I could imagine s1-3 animated in Mappa’s style and work

But realistically I couldn’t picture wit studio animating s4 it just wouldn’t fit well in my opinion.

i think it was animated by same staff from wit but using a different art style of mappa's.
i like mappa's skin polish, it looks like a real skin and stands out frm other anime's
and their (eye's) 👀 animation are very good,I've noticed in lot of anime's after success of aot 4th season...

well I agree wit studio's art style complement AOT's art style more but how the heck can you say that mappa did a bad job? the animation is excellent and the CGI isn't bad at all and did you watched the final part? and if after watching it you say that mappa did a bad job then the problem's in your eyes.

People really need to get over it because both look great. Mappa's work on AoT is extremely underrated based on how much i see it get dragged. It's not anywhere remotely close to looking bad.

MAPPA for some subtle attentions that are a bit more faithful to the manga. Wit for just about everything else. Well, at least they kept Sawano for the music. Would've taken a nosedive in atmosphere if we lost him.

I felt like if Mappa animated it from the start and already made a dark atmosphere from the beginning, it would've slapped. But since Wit started it I'm gonna have to go with them, also mainly because I liked their animations and artstyle more.

Both studio did excellent job
@baymaxemon Excellent work is not the word I would use, but Wit studio has been able to give the right weight to the production of aot giving us well-groomed and dynamic seasons (although I did not appreciate some changes and cuts that led to the story). Instead Mappa has given us a very unsatisfactory work in the first part, in the second it seems to have recovered even if it was not entirely optimal and the 3rd part was the one in which you could see they had concentrated their greatest efforts, but overall it was a very disappointing result for what Aot was supposed to be

@YamiLoon Mappa's dark art style depends a lot on the context he used it in, for example the watermark in part 2 was a bit off since the environment was more "yellow" than it should have been, in part 1 instead I noticed that they used many more dark elements than normal probably to hide the animation flaws, even if it wasn't exactly optimal to immerse us in the action of the show, in general I found Wit's work better on many points including the style.

Wit, but I really liked mappa’s style in season 4 part 2
@Everydaycargo24 Well yes there was much more coherence in the details, even if the animations were more cgi than 2d, in general the only episode that really succeeded in the 2nd part I would say was the 11th, there it was a continuous sakugafast

@IkariZekai I honestly appreciated Mappa technically only episode 11 of part 2, episode 9 of part 2 which I found interesting on the storyboard side and some interesting scenes in part 3, for the rest, except for small exceptions such as the scene of Eren's father going crazy I found the technical component of Mappa really terrible, I understand that the action was reduced to the bone, but for the rest imho it seemed like watching entire seasons of slides from right to left or vice versa with a fixed camera on still faces in which only the mouths moved supported by a direction of disarming mediocrity, ironically the most animated things were those rendered in cgi

@Duck2800 Considering the Aot series, I was really annoyed by the treatment that Mappa reserved for this series, yes there were time constraints, but that doesn't mean that the final product wasn't mediocre, although I appreciated the change of style and some noteworthy scenes here and there, the rest I found it decidedly below everything it should have been, the complete opposite of Wit that despite its defects knew how to direct the seasons with a truly amazing direction and artistic component.

@Dan_ALves Actually we could, there are much better studios than Mappa that could have given a better direction to the show, I really don't understand where all this acclaim for Mappa comes from when their works are a coin toss, you never know which one will be done well and which one not, with Aot for example they failed to give it the treatment it deserves

@alexthehammer Well I wouldn't say so, given the constraints that Mappa had to bring to the series that didn't live up to expectations, the dark theme of Mappa was honestly very overused and not that far from that of Wit, indeed on the animation and direction side we have a total downgrading that is only recovered in the final stages of the series, which honestly is not what you would expect from an AOT production.

@chickpea05 Season 4 had a lot of potential, but sadly Mappa doesn't really manage to exploit it, aside from the loopholes he had to bring in due to time constraints like the cgi giants, I find it really sad that he couldn't give a better direction to the show, but just tried to do the job of adapting it without major directorial changes (and those that were there were very dubious), it's a shame that we couldn't get more

@Merve2Love You also have to consider the importance of the title, for example for demon slayer and jujutsu kaisen the productions they are having are definitely above what their respective titles can offer, but for aot it certainly deserved a better treatment that Wit managed to satisfy, Mappa instead did not succeed in the enterprise.

Unironically I only liked seasons 1 & 2 of attack on titan and i'm pretty sure they were studio wit that animated those... so i'm not sure if it's the studio issue there but to me they were the only seasons I actually liked. Maybe the story was just better in the beginning before it became too political and boring but anyway WIT definitely did better with animation and handled the anime properly in all aspects. Can't say the same about MAPPA on the otherhand
