This series is going so slow.

I still don't feel the Higurashi vibe. I hope this episode will be better.

NAh, it's happy as it is....You don't feel that Higurashi vibe on your schumacher is simply because you're not happy enough to take a Happyku and...ATE IT!!! Better or not, I don't happily care, it's all the happiness that matters. ( The gayness too)

I just skimmed through the episode. I skipped the parts where it got good, though. XD Issei's gonna lose it soon, I'm sure of it! And Wolf Girl will return, yaay. :D She will protect the law! O(>∇<)O
It looks sooooo good. Even better than the previous one. Can't freaking wait for subs. <3

This episode remained good and going by the preview next episode will be, too.

They changed some things to get the plot to move a bit faster, like Isuzu actually saying out loud that Issei was killed. In the VN it went a bit differently, but I assume it's for the better, so next episode viewers can get some of the first answers towards what is actually happening.
What I didn't like at all was Issei crawling down the wall...he's not a freakin' spider or something.

From here on there are some spoilers about the VN, so anyone who's interested may read.

Hmm they revealed a few more things in this episode. I'm assuming that this "disease" is transferred by some liplocking action or something to that degree and that's why Nemeru's groupies are so intent on keeping newly formed couples apart. That just totally debunked my previous theory.

Looks like Isuzu is going take the fight straight to Nemeru in the next episode.

Yeah. I thought it was "love" that caused that monster to emerge and then kill the "lover".
Also, Nemeru doesn't seem all that evil since she obviously doesn't have a choice but kill those monsters. She might explain it to Isuzu next episode to calm her down or whatever...

Good so far but it's still lacking that "Higurashi" feel.

No way! I refuse the law! It's crap and useless. Why not let the people infected stay with the person who infected if love is involved? Nemuru has my grudge and personally I want Isuzu to kill her next episode! It will be good and beneficial to all the wolves simply because Nemuru's killings will stop. Besides the vigilance committee can reform into something better. I am so raging....poor Issei but more poor Isuzu... :( not ok at all her crying. I don't how all of you think the disease is spread but it's simple: saliva or even blood with body fluids contact so says it here=>
after of course this=>
I still think this crap stinks unless the wild wolf infects all and is out of control then it's a different story. Looks like Nemuru knows Hiroshi is starting to understand too much=>
from the looks of this=>
people of the old town are really wolves and all of them are the same there. Guessing also that humans becoming infected are either killed or in permanence in the old town until deemed by the committee to return to the new town. Sakaki.....will he really find a cure or something to kill all the wolves?=>
Looks like this=>
means a wold was killed and sympathy to the family. Guess I was right about the grandfather he is from Nemuru's family. So how did Hiroshi know this=>
Rofl....a movie that predicts what might happen to humans around the new town?=>
Gif time! Isuzu part where I felt :( poor Isuzu/die Nemuru by Isuzu's double daggers! Gifs of crazy Issei=>
Overall, let's kill Nemuru next episode shall we?

It's saliva and the committee should take the couple not kill the other and keeping them apart....what in the world is this stupidity of them....

I'm just assuming but given the local legend and the way they said "You are no longer who you used to be"

I knew this episode was going to be good when it didn't start with Isuzu being annoying. Oh well, looks like Issei bit the dust.

I smell "Bad End" on this arc already.

EDIT: I forgot, the random commercials were funny.
"Kotaro! Kojiro"

And we got the Hassaku commercial again. (WHY IS IT SO ADDICTING??!)

I rate this one a 3/5 definitely not as progressive as I hoped.

Unless it picks up like by the end of the next episode I'd have to wonder if it will ever even be comparable to Higurashi or even Umineko for that matter. Both had far faster paced storylines than this seems to at the minute.

Dont get me wrong I dont hate or dislike it, I just feel it has vast room for improvement.

This is going slower than Higurashi and Umineko because DEEN isn't adapting this. DEEN really rushed things, according to the VN players (Not that I mind. I freaking loved Umineko and Higurashi.). There were a trizillion (Is that a word? XD) club games in the Higurashi VN, and most VN players find them annoying and boring. Thank god DEEN left that out.
I bet if DEEN adapted Ookami, its pace would be a lot faster.

Woo! This just keeps getting better and better! This show has already reached the vibe I had for the good parts of Higurashi. Hopefully, they won't recycle the same arc again and again and bore me to death like they did with the first season. We get to see more and more of the scythe girl!

Also, now I'm almost certain the scythe girl is Nemuru. For some reason, I just keep refusing to believe it's her, but with this episode, it's kind of hard to deny it.

Only complaint is that Hiroshi acts like the typical horror movie victim: wondering out alone at night, despite KNOWING that there is a murder case going around.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

No offense, but try to think for a second: why would the faction for whom Nemuru does the dirty work care if those wolf vampires (or whatever they are) fall into love with someone? They certainly don't go through all of this shit for fun.

Why did not Hiro just use the juices from the fruit if he at least would have gotten one to spray on Issei to make him stop?

*facepalm*
He doesn't know what a hell is happening, yet alone that those juices can be of help. Even we wouldn't know if camera didn't hint at it so obviously. And Mr. Hasake has no hints thus he can't possibly know that those juices can help him. As far as he knows, Isei might have been your usual psychopath.
Hell, just look at Isei before he was killed: he acted like someone who could go on a killing rampage every second now.

And you should also look better at Nemuru: the girl does NOT enjoy what she does. Hell, she hates Hakase for attracting all these wolves (it seems that he somehow caused the death of two of his friends). The fact that she doesn't complain about it hints that there is no other choice either.

There were a trizillion (Is that a word? XD) club games in the Higurashi VN, and most VN players find them annoying and boring. Thank god DEEN left that out.

Most of them still got adapted in the anime-only arc (which actually included many deleted scenes). However the pacing was off: I didn't play the VN yet I felt that the pacing would benefit of being a bit slower.

Only complaint is that Hiroshi acts like the typical horror movie victim: wondering out alone at night, despite KNOWING that there is a murder case going around.

He still isn't 100% sure if what he saw was a reality or a hallucionation (lets be honest here: it is hard to believe that there are lolies with big scyhtes jumping around and killing people) and that a complete stranger told him that there is some evil organization that kills people. He would need some more clues before becoming so careful (like the murder of Isei).

as far as im concerned this isnt such a slow start for me

People are just too used to fast-paced series that they started thinking that fast pace = normal pace.
Ookami is actually quite nicely paced if I may so.

I highly doubt there will be any love left when the person finds out their so called loved one infected them with some kind of disease. It's not crap nor is it useless. It is quite necessary. If they're just going to let them do what they please, sooner or later, the infected will spread out of the town and into other populations, which is clearly not what they want.

Haha, there was a fabulous reference to Antarctica (the Toei, 1983 one, not the Disney one :)) in this episode. I never wondered about that, but it would definitely look cool as a horror movie.

Apart from that, this 5th episode was probably the best of the series for now. Everything is coming together nicely and the script has become much more understandable and interesting since the latter episode. I wonder what path it will take from now on with Isuzu most probably being infected herself, our little pathetic hero being the new interest in town (hmmm, yummy Hiroshi !) and Nemuru being the wolf killing priestess. A love triangle could be quite funny but I doubt it will evolve that way. Well, let's see.

Regarding the Ô-Kami-sama and Ôkami-sama question:
大神様 is the first one, which translates into 'Great God'.
It is written with the Kanji 大 which can be read 'Ô' (long O) and 神 which can be read 'kami' and means god. 様 is the suffix being read 'sama', which just indicates that the person that is referred to is in a pretty high position (like a king or a god).
狼様 would be the second, which translates into Great Wolf.
It is written with the kanji 狼 which is read as 'Ôkami' for wolf and again 様 for someone who is being revered by you.
So by writing it おおかみかくし in the title, they obscured wether they meant 'spirited away by a great god' or '...by a wolf'.

Just to give a little insight into that...I just hope anybody will read that ^^°

OrochiPL said:

Yeah I wondered how they would subtitle that, as I assumed that nobody among them would have read the VN...seems to prove true so far.
The term they used here is 神人 or for those who are a bit confused Kamibito.
It is a reading sepcially introduced by the VN (normally it's shinjin) and is part of the terminology in Ôkamikakushi...some stuff should be explained next episode I think.

I just wish they would keep it as Kamibito...because they will get into some trouble later if they stick to translating those things.

I hope so, it would be the best to know from anime than assuming ourself.

Well, anyway, it's improving, but it's still nowhere near left the ghetto of being a far inferior Higurashi knockoff. Not by a longshot. On top of that, the guys in the uniform? The Yamainu. Whatever condition Issei and the others had? Hinamizawa syndrome. The girl with the scythe? Rika Furuude. Honestly, this is just plain silly.

Don't need to mention how slow this show progresses. Also, I sense a lack of gore.

There's action, but lack of horror in this.

I can't believe how much of a pussy that male lead is ~__~ The way he screams is creeping me out every time.

Agreed. He's one of the most annoyingly spineless protagonists i've ever seen.

In fact, I can't say I find any of the characters likeable. His sister is just an annoying tsundere, Issei is frankly creepy, and all the other characters are just plain forgettable.

I guess it can be called action, but it's still mostly passive, as the maincast isn't involved in most szenes. (previous episodes) As for the lack of horror, well, I agree :D The moe elements aren't being handled nearly as good as in Higurashi, so it just doesnt fit the "crazy horror" theme of the show.
