I guess if someone hasn't seen House M.D., this anime would feel a lot fresher... It was a decent start, but I'm not too impressed at the moment. |

| @patkarunungan I feel Maomao had a lot more character than Takao, though, right from the get-go. Also, while it had a few "mystery of the week" episodes, The Apothecary Diaries wasn't too much of a case-solving type of show for me, because it had a lot more plot, drama, interesting characters and several overarching mysteries. This, however, feels like a straight-up medical/mystery show (for now). House as a character had a lot more going on, too, like addiction issues, self-destructive tendencies, loneliness, inability to be nice to people, etc. Plus the side characters were pretty fun, some of them almost as weird and messed up. But it's only been two episodes, so we'll see how Ameku Takao turns out. |

Like okay, all this diagnosis stuff etc was like 5 minutes of episode 1, after that all there was is just a detective story about finding who is guilty in a crime and not diagnosing really.
From what I recall in 8 seasons House never really helped to find criminals out of curiosity.

| @Vizvezdenec Sure, House didn't regularly involve himself in solving crimes, but he effectively operated like a detective. He just happened to solve medical mysteries with his skills. He often also solved non-medical mysteries in the process, like the patient's personal affairs. The way Takao just glances at a patient or a room, quickly picks up small but important details (like a bag of blueberries or tropical fish tank), and puts the pieces together to arrive at the only possible solution is textbook Sherlock Holmes and Dr. House. She's also similar in the sense that she doesn't seem to care about the people's feelings at all, is constantly bored, and inserts herself into "puzzles" that she finds interesting, rules and responsibilities be damned. Also, I remember House's habit of breaking into people's homes to gather information. Basically a detective, no? |
| Nah this is just the typical, ultra smart anime character that solves shit based on observations nobody else in the cast made. House would be failing to diagnose a patient for a whole episode just for something random and directly irrelevant to the patient to be his eureka moment. Her "quirk" is also just that, being smart. No asshole trait, no problems of her own. Maomao, as others said, has more to her than just being smart. And so far the rest of the cast arent that interesting. Also, the way she explains how she made the diagnosis and how House does it(before humiliating the patient) are way different. It even feels like he makes a lecture to his self from few minutes ago for not realizing sooner. Will see how this develops in few eps. |
