I was making a post in the The Dangers in My Heart anime section and saw a post asking if girls like Yamada Anna really exist who are pretty and popular but falls for a creepy, loner guy. After watching Kaguya-sama, I've been thinking about this for a while. Also, sorry if this feels cringe.

what? are you asking for dating advice or what is the purpose of this thread?

lets just say if youre a "creepy, loner guy" and dont actively talk to people or there is nothing interesting about you then dont expect other people to show interest in you
relationships are a combined effort, dont expect others to just settle for you
it can happen but you'd have to be incredibly lucky and usually it stays wishful thinking
always try to make an effort

Relax, don't take this seriously. I have no internet in dating (at least now). This question is just from my curiosity after watching how relationship is portrayed in quite a few romance anime.

Also, I agree with your point. That's why I love Kaguya-sama. Miyuki works hard to be able to stand beside Kaguya.

I don't think anyone would like a pathetic person, unless they knew and fell in love with such a person before they were pathetic.
Depends on the parameters of pathetic, I suppose.

I'd say true love would be two people who love and inspire each other to be better, to stand next to each other forever. So self improvement, in a sense, is an indispensable part of true love imo. If you're self aware and acknowledge your weaknesses, there will always be that drive to be better for your partner's sake. That's true love.

I think it's impossible to love someone without seeing any qualities in them. So unless you like pathetic people, you wouldn't love one. I'd say true love is when you love someone beside their flaws because of their qualities.

That's a really good way to put it.

My take -

They both go hand in hand.
Falling in love includes that you dont feel guilty/embarrassed standing next to that person or standing up for them. And when they bully your loved one you keep the ability to ruin the bullies either physically or mentally.

But you also need to work hard on yourself so that your liver is proud when they stand next to you. You should make yourself smart and strong enough to save them in a life or death situation.

i think both ways cause if you like someone so of course you will try your best to look good in front of her and again if she likes you the way you are (which very rarely happens in real life except anime), you still try to improve yourself for her.

in the end, either is a W.
