As soul-crushing it must've been to do on his deathbed, it's commendable of Piast to plainly accept the invalidation of his and the thousands before him's life's work as the truth. As far as final sights go, at least the dude got one of the better ones.

Piast story finished. His ideas and knowledge over the years were simply useless, and that was proven in this episode. At that moment when Piast did not want to hand over the key he was already aware of this: his knowledge and his study to date have been invalid from the moment Oczy managed to see Venus. Those tears were of deep sadness, imagine dedicating your entire life to studying something and in the end they prove to you that all your study was simply done wrong for years.

Piast is definitely the character with an excellent story construction so far. Him knowing that he was studying something wrong, and giving people the opportunity to make a correct analysis of what he did wrong was simply beautiful and sad at the same time. Sometimes all we have to do is accept that we might be wrong about something. Pias did exactly that, he managed to show that even if he was wrong, he would not carry such mistakes into the future.
The final scene of Piast looking at the sky and crying only proves how much he saw his mistakes, but there he already knew, there was no way to change what he had already studied. All he could do was let the truth come out, though he wouldn't be the one to do it... This was definitely the only and best good episode of Orbe that I felt successful seeing the whole outcome (my opinion).

Maybe the only thing missing was a soundtrack in that final scene, but other than that, it was a magnificent episode. I hope good characters start appearing after Piast. The only good character so far. 5/5

If reading is a miracle (it is), so is this show.
I doff my cap to Madhouse. A year ago they gave us Frieren and now this. They are redefining what a mainstream anime series can be in my opinion.

That final scene of him crying is precisely the sense of insignificance in the face of the study he did throughout his life in the wrong way. Another great episode! I loved the parallels between Piast's story with his mentor and the present time, dealing with heliocentrism disproving his theory.

Jolenta's comparison of reading and writing to miracles were on point! I'm sad we might not get to see much of her again.
