That was such a sweet development coming from the doctor and the manager as Yukari was having doubts about her marriage. Somthing I'n really into from this series is that you can do an anime about adult life and romance without relying on highschool tropes. They even serve you with traditional saying and little bits of history from what they can relate to the episode. It's charming and interesting.

Sasakura sure went full cupid mode this episode. Romantic development between Kimishima and Hayase was lovely and though the deal with Yukari getting married felt slightly forced, it was still nice to see her always-genki self receiving more character depth.

Another interesting episode that expresses more characters and their problems either solved with drinks or (this time) cigars.

After catching up with this series I realize how much drama is shown within this show, but it's not over to the point where I find it annoying, it feels laidback and idk more understandable than other shows I've seen. Ryu has really been cooking with his knowledge about these drinks he makes and the history behind, but in a way that would always please or resolve the customer's current issue.

Like with Hayase I'm glad he realizes that he was in the wrong and Rumi also felt the same way too, but in the end their smoking cigars together by the corner of the bar as their little secret, plus them getting along was wholesome. As for Yukari, she felt kind of rushed into marriage and wasn't sure if she was fully committed to it yet. With Ryu's drink Alexander and his advice, he was able to make her realize at the end of the day its her choice not to rush into things so soon. Even if its for your grandmother, which I can understand why this was hard for her (Yukari) because she might not have much time left, but like I said she made the right call to call off the marriage till she was fully sure.

Very pleasant episode, as much as I love Ryu tackle more of these people's issues, I want to know why he still doesn't to take Miwa's offer yet? She hasn't brought it up since she's been hanging out with him a lot, but there has to be a story behind why he can't (and not with a drink lol). I am also dying to see him make this "Glass of God" drink already!

Kimurah told the truth and you didn't listen

i still like this show but it's quite surface level with some of it's character mini arcs also i was like no way boy did you just suggest to a recovering smoke addict to come to your bar to drink and smoke in the name of love! granted due to the quality of the animation i had no clue if they simply were smoking them while they chatted or actual did smoke em

had to look up that baby thing because i was like do people even do that? let alone Japanese if it's a old western thing

i rarely drink but i'm still here to see fancy real drinks being made because that's the best thing this show has going for it depicting real drinks and bars

How can I love a show (8/10 from me) that has a drug dealer MC who gets people to start smoking.
I was so confused be his actions, but since he is trying to beat smoking, it makes sense he was angry. Both the nicotine withdrawals and trying to resist the temptation. Both of them seem like nice people otherwise with him having minor anger issues.
Alexander, MC might be secretly a god.
Rich girl likely fell even further for MC, he knew her work bestie more than she knew her.
4/5 because the alcohol x tobacco combo really threw me off, but otherwise loved it.

this was a slow episode and the animation was ROUGH holy. The couple statically sitting at the bar for so many scenes was painful to see

I like this show a lot but I wish the animation budget was better

Yukari's a nice and considerate girl but I'm glad she didn't rush it and decided to take her time. Hope her grandma will be fine.

Rumi and Hayase ship gonna sail? They make a good couple with nice chemistry. Hope he confess before she leaves. Rumi's story was emotional.

Last episode and this episode as well, we were introduced to "you need to feel bad for them" kinda backstory, but then again, both were cut short. Still can't care enough about their stories, but hey, in the end a drink was all they need to brighten up.

Also, of course, mister know-it-all already knew what was up with Yukari.

The main reason I didn't like it is because the fundamental part of this anime is based on cocktails and I personally don't drink any alcohol, so the history of cocktails or how they are prepared, if it has this or that, doesn't matter. I'm not interested in it in the slightest, I find that it has great animation, but unless you like cocktails or alcohol, you won't like it

I think I might have been more supportive of the Hayase x Kimishima romance if Hayase hadn't been a collosal ass for no reason and then to somehow make things "equal", having Kimishima share the blame for what happened. She was smoking, which she was allowed to do there, and he sat next to her on his own. Then after failing at bullying her into doing what he wants, breaks something of hers that held extreme sentimental value. I fail to see how she has to apologize for anything or how he so easily got on her good side after talking for 2 minutes.

Another lovely episode. There is romance probably going off between the manager Hayase and the doctor over cigars. Plus the marriage of Yukari was a surprise but somehow no one seems to really think she is serious about it. Their manager sure did even thinking about the speech to be given at the wedding. The cocktail this time is Alexander.

This was probably the best episode so far, but I can't help but feel like something was lacking. This had the makings of a remarkable episode, but the author or production team missed the mark.
For starters I could honestly care less about Yukari's character, she was super annoying for the first 2 episodes, and I was happy she was gone for the last 3. Then this episode comes along and focuses on her. She's had no development, and we never met this mystery "fiancé". There was even a point in the episode where I thought she was making the whole thing up to get some attention from her coworker. Why should I even care about this will she, won't she situations she finds herself in? There is just nothing there to latch onto and care about. The fiancé doesn't even exist in the world, it was a weak tool to try and draw some emotion out of the audience when it hasn't been earned.
Secondly, the story about the cigars. This could have and probably should have been the sole focus of the episode. I get the manager is a good guy and he was going through some things but the way it showed it in the early part of the episode was very superficial and surface-level. He called her out for doing exactly what he ended up doing himself, being selfish. It was pretty dumb. I like that they ended up making amends but Sasakura offering for him to smoke at the bar while knowing he is recovering from smoking was just bad imo. For as much care as Sasakura shows for his patrons this is like the worst thing he could actually do for one of them.

I really wanted to enjoy this series more than I am. I was hoping it would give me a sort of Death Parade vibe, but the characters are just not hitting the mark on a regular basis.

And here I thought after last episode we would be introduced to characters depicting real people, but we're once again shown with cartoon cardboards acompanied by sappy sob music to highlight their hard lives.

Once again, Sasakura and his outdated oversea stories. Does the author think it's the 1950s? Giving away cigars after child birth has stopped being a tradition for more than a couple of decades given the high prices of authentic cuban cigars (not to mention they are technically illegal in the US due to the US embargo in the 60s) not saying it's completely impossible in current days but it's not a national tradition anymore. Also add the vast amount of anti tabacco advertisment and how it kills your lounges. All this BS coming from a doctor that should be quite aware from the tobacco consequences makes it feel even less believeable. Not saying it's completely impossible because I actually have a couple of doctor friends that do admit their duty is incredibly stressful and they are waving the long term damages just to make it thru the week. BUt I certainly didn't get that kind of vibe from this doctor Kimishima.

Likewise it bugs me how incredibly superficial (or should I say lack of detail) Hayase's story is. All we get is that he's taking the hit for a screw up from his underlings, but we get no real details of this story, which makes me incredibly apathetic towards his whole act. We're just thrown in sad sob music and expect to be swayed by half assed stories just because the music is sad and that's a cue for the audience to get the feels.

Going back to Sasakura's verbal diahrrea, now I understand why I dislike him so much. He's like an adult version of Hachiman, but all his takes aren't supposed to be taken as some sort of satire for a chunny character and learning how to grow up, but taken straight out like undeniable words of wisdom in the right moment. He's like a ChatGPT bot telling you what you want to hear without a soul or any depiction of human traits.

Shame the author retconned Yukari's marriage. Guess you need to keep the status quo, and waifus even if they are the most background decor must remain available for the lowest denominator audience.

Thank you for calling this out. Honestly, the rest of your posts are very much appreciated. This storyline bothered me the most in this episode as I have no attachment to her character since she was gone for 3 episodes, and the fiancé doesn't even exist in universe. She was a single lady when we met her in episodes 1 and 2, she was missing for 3 episodes and now I am supposed to care about this marriage announcement. It makes no narrative sense.
