Wouldn't it be cool if our drawing could really come to life like that?!

Yes, yes it would be cool if our drawings came to life like that. I might actually learn to draw well.

This was an ok short, the beginning was nice but I didn't enjoy the middle that much. The animation was great, the animation of the cat was smooth but the drawings were kind of bumpy, a nice effect.

Fun little film. It really reminded me of Chalk Zone.

Loved the the black and white feel of the movie.

That was mischievous rats for teasing the cute cat by taking away his pencil, but also it goes back to him. I loved how he left the bear traffic officer drawing in the wall as a sign to the bear who made him wiped down his graffiti.

awesome retro anime, 6/10.

I'm absolutely in love with Koneko's character design. I love how his movements just flow. That goes for the other characters as well. But Koneko just has that special charm. Must be in that cattish smile. It's a shame he was only featured in two shorts.

Btw, is Koneko the cat on the Toei logo?

Started out okay, but it overstayed its welcome and quickly became a slog. Seems heavily "inspired" by a certain cat and mouse antics duo. The drawing on the wall shtick was a good excuse to have minimal effort put into the backgrounds - probably saved a lot on manpower and budget that way.

The best moment of this was undoubtedly when the mice where driving the car in circles until they drew in the wheels for the other side of the car. That was a clever gag about the nature of drawing.

Unfortunately, that was one of the only times they took advantage of the premise. The drawing aspect of this barely came into play, outside of the aforementioned example, there was the gate they drew and then the cat trying to stop his descent, and the beginning bit where he has to draw a traffic control bear. The visual difference of the drawings were nice to see but there's not much creativity in their usage. And this is a concept that has almost endless possibilities.

This end result for me was a 12 minute slog with small bright points. I found this mostly boring. 4/10.

A Cat draws Doodle which come to life.
For an Anime over 60 Years old this was pretty good.
Reminded me of Tom & Jerry without the color.

Well that was really fun. Never expected a '50s anime to actually be enjoyable to watch, but this one was pretty good.
