Oh, Ogarou, you DOG.

Ogarou and the others, tasked with escorting Princess Rubiria to the royal capital city of Osvel, head towards the Cluster Mountains, said to be the home of the strongest of the four-winged eagles, Jade Eagle. However, on the way, the health of the cooking sisters deteriorates. Surprisingly, both of them are pregnant with Ogarou's children and are about to give birth at any moment. The children grow at a rapid pace, even devouring the nutrients from their mothers' bodies. With no time to return to the village, the group must find a safe cave to prepare for childbirth.

I honestly feel bad for the ogres now. If they can't get drunk, what's the point of drinking, lol. Anyway, this episode made me feel like I'm drunk because somehow, in just one day according to the show, these sisters got pregnant with no prior signs at all—like, what??? But whatever, Ogarou's a father now. He has kids, the first of many, as I'm sure he'll get more girls pregnant, knowing his nature. And the fact that these kids are already able to walk after what, 2-3 days? Okay, yeah, sure.

What the hell is up with the system?

Mannnn what a shitty version of Rafael, no audio just reading it, hella lazy way to wrap up the final minute of an episode. 0.5/10.

It was funny that the end wrapped up like an old computer system.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

What a tense episode, the birth of the Ogre's first children, that scene of the children growing in their mothers' wombs was very tense and him giving his flesh to save them was very beautiful to see and clearly he loves them all. And that deer was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in anime, what a fantastic animal. And the kids at the end were all grown up, it was really cute, it was a good episode now let's see it in its final form.

Teasing the OP evolution of his and his whole gang, and not showing it, that's not very nice. I guess they'll do a whole episode next week about how OP it is - better be worth the wait ^^
I would have liked the episode ending on the "evolution? / yes" and starting next one with that build up of OP-Ness before actually getting into it.

Also, the after credits, overexposed final teaser is not quite what I'm expecting reading the titles he got: basically, it says Lord of the dark, and first pic we get is shiny, sun bathed (little) ogarou?

Such a beautiful episode it was! They went into a journey to escort the tomboy princess and after some time, Ogrou and others noticed that human twin women’s (Felicia and Alma) situation got worse.

They got pregnant with Ogrou’s babies and there was no time to lose. Thanks to his gained abilities, Ogrou managed to create beds for twin women and started the surgery in order to get out the babies. If they remained a little longer in their belly, they would have been died, because the babies were eating them from the inside.

Auro and Argentine are so cute, they surely will be strong ogres, exactly like their father. About the last scene from this episode, it was a bit weird how Ogrou gained three of those five special abilities and no way he shrank =))

Can’t wait for the next episode. I also believe that the story and Ogrou’s evolving are a little too quick.

I did not expect to see a situation in which Ogrou didn’t know what to do. Gobji is coming in clutch and now Ogrou is the father of two mixed bloods named Auro and Argento, and they’re growing up really fast.

I wonder how many other beings in this world outclass Ogrou outside of the White Stag, and why he decided to pretend to have a boss when he helped those humans against the fomorians. I guess he doesn’t want to reveal all his secrets, but the blonde has an ability to sense the death of himself and his allies, so there’s no hiding his strength.

It seems that Ogrou has become more chill and won’t just eat everyone he comes across.

And now he’s learned his true name, Yaten-Doji and he’s become a Apostle Lord. From the sounds of it, he’s become smaller as well. What does this mean for him?

@IzanaSolos I think ogres could get drunk, Ogrou is different because of all the resistances and such he has via his Absorption ability.

The sisters probably got pregnant at some point, possibly even at the party, but I don't think it really gets into details beyond a few things like duration (which is pretty short, like shorter than dogs and cats, we're talking like 30-40 days for gestation). They could've been pregnant for a time and it only progressed suddenly but given Ogrou, it could've been after a night of drinking and sex, then just rapidly progresses because special ogre powers from the father

@menpe I mean, it's already going in weird directions with adaptation relative to the manga, since I think before this they had already met a hero and his party that we see in the opening. Possibly will still be used, but in a different order of events

@Vicmiceli The children are a nice breath of fresh air in the series, though they tend to still get sidelined so far. I'm about 6 chapters behind what we have of the manga, but we actually got developments that were quite nice. Only halfway through the episode and I'm wondering what the progression will be, since the manga has a development I'm thinking might be slightly delayed.

@luneart He only evolves once more, but this is the final one for this season and I don't think he's progressed beyond one more in the manga or light novel. It feels fast here because of how they're squishing so much in and cutting out a lot of unnecessary things (like that there was a merchant they met who helped them when they entered that first town. Or probably 80% of the abilities he gained, but that's for the better

@ejleon Relative to the manga (which technically is adapting from the original, a light novel), it is going at a rapid pace. Lots of stuff is cut out, moved around in events or generally condensed, but the manga probably did something similar in a way. But this is done well for that limitation, since I feel like it's up in the air whether this will get a season 2. It might take time or it may just not perform well enough

One of the worst anime I've ever seen. Idiot author just throws skills at the MC so that the MC can always win any situation the author made up for him. Add 5 random skills every time he eats something so that he now has tools to use when he makes up the next stupid plot. None of the skills are even explained because the author couldn't care to make any skill with a drawback. And the worst subservient harem ever. God I hate this show so much. I'm sure the author decided the minute they started this chapter that the MC should be a father so the 2 lesser focused girls of his harem got pregnant.

I can understand what you mean.

Although, I do hope it does get another season, it is one of my favorite anime this season.

I do find it interesting, people are complaining that even though the new “Slime” season is accurate to the written material, the pacing is too slow, and if this anime is to fast and cuts too much out, is there some center point anime should aim for? Some sort of balance between pace and material covered.

Anyways, thank you for explaining, I appreciate it.

@ejleon From what I understand, light novels are partly chosen because that makes it easier on animators for the most part: lots of dialogue, not a lot of motion involved beyond faces. And there's still a solid amount of dialogue each episode of Re:Monster, though it does feel condensed when you look at the manga where there are groups of, no joke, like 20 abilities or more that our lead acquires, though more recently it's been balanced out and he's getting more special items and such, because dungeon crawling becomes a thing (along with the mercenary group that's taking shape)

If it gets another season, we'll be waiting a bit, because they've gotten through, no joke, like 40+ chapters and we still have 2 episodes left. I think where we left off is about chapter 47 or 48. That pacing is pretty fast by any standard, but probably moreso for light novel content (which is, as you'd expect, mostly text with occasionally illustrations)

@HellindiuM They often seem to forget some of the skills (or basically assume that you can figure out where they apply passively), but the skill synthesis at least helps the author cut out a lot of weaker versions. It does feel like it was written partly by the seat of their pants in places

I mean...next episode probably will have some developments that will upset you, but that has probably happened repeatedly. It's cheesy, yes,but it's in the same vein as other series that have to juggle so many subplots and keep it compelling for an audience too often interested in nitpicking

Crunchyroll is so damn lazy, they keep throwing untranslated Japanese text into anime whereas funimation would typically have translated it.

Yes because everyone loves to stare at foreign text we cant read for minutes on end. Its not just this anime there have been many with similar issues this season! (This has probably been the absolute worst case however)

@HellindiuM I'm not going to pretend it's a masterpiece, I'd give it around a 7 at this point, it's serviceable for telling the story while also having to rush the pace to cut out a LOT of extraneous subplots.

Not sure how much of a fanbase this has, but I'm watching Mission Yozakura Family's new episode and am reminded they cut out a whole arc, albeit it was fairly short and probably not seen as important enough for the long game of the story which gets kind of complex in the spy aspects, political intrigue, history, etc. And MYF probably has a fanbase that objected to that

I'm no defender of this as anything ground breaking, but even bad media can be useful when used as a comparison to others. I remember when I was catching up on the manga (still a bit behind now) and someone basically summed it up as a power fantasy and that's not a bad characterization, which also applies to plenty of other isekai in this subgenre (Reincarnated as a Slime, I'm a Spider and Overlord all come to mind)

How do the twins go from having morning sickness to being very pregnant and then having their kids within a span of what, 3 days?? Also the weather went from dry and warm to blizzard-like in a matter of a day or 2 ๐Ÿ™„

Another thing that happened was that Ogrou evolved again even though the text that was shown indicated that he didn't meet all the requirements but I guess he evolved anyways. Regardless I'm curious to see how he acts and fights in his new form.

@Alfredo-Sauce The pregnancy is pretty fast, I think the manga explained that a human pregnancy with a goblin is less than a month, so Ogrou is probably that much faster

I think he met the requirements for advancement, he didn't meet the requirements for the skills related to him achieving the "Epic Awakening" that the Bug Brave mentioned several episodes ago. Though I don't know if that's been explained much even where I am, which is chapter 93

@LeenPhoenixRae He's always been since he became a Hobgoblin, moreso the Ogre, though frankly the skill stuff is unclear, particularly in what is implied by most of the skills. Rou only explains a portion of the skills anyway and after a time he starts synthesizing skills, so it's more just upgrading the intensity of, say, the armor or things like the Parallel Thinking or such. Anime has also trimmed down much of the notifications anyway in regards to skill acquisition, which is probably to save time

Now I can see how Re:Monster became the predecessor of TenSura. While it's more like a 'senpai' of TenSura (it predated the TenSura LN by 2 years or more) in terms of the concepts used in this isekai genre, it really was one of the first, if not the only one, which really explored the premise during those times (though I encountered some LN with similar concept from that year).
Well, this new phase Ogrou is now in, is just half-way of what he is now in the manga adaptation.

I agree that most of the skills aren't shown, but I wouldn't call the series garbage because of that. He uses the skills that are immediately useful to him in the moment. There's no need for him to overkill and spam all of his abilities at once.

@Alfredo-Sauce Firstly, the "sickness" is just a precursor to them being pregnant. This is a common thing when women go into labor. They also get weird cravings as well.

I'm not an expert at child birth, but these kinds of things are typical. In this case, ogre children are born very quickly, so of course this was faster than normal. Also this is an anime, so they're not gonna have us watch 9 months of episodes before the children are born.

I agree. In terms of isekai, this is very unique in terms of the morality of the characters (mainly Ogrou or Yanti-Doji) and the different subjects explored, such as survival of the fittest, slavery, establishing dominance, sexual intercourse, and so on.

@EbolaBlast looked fine to me when i watched ep10 2.5 or so hours ago. shrug. i've been watching Funi since they first put Dragonball dub on the broadcast/airwave TV and Crunchy not long after they went legit and quit being a 'grey-web fansub site'. quality hasn't dropped much that i've seen. before or after the merger. other than some recent titles with rushed 'same day simulcast' subs that had one or two grammatical/spelling or punctuation errors in one episode. most of those i've seen get corrected within 24 hours. the only problems i've seen was with Funi's subs for donghua and that i chalk up to their inexperience with Mandarin.

Once again, i do not watch subbed. I am strictly talking about dubbed. I will reiterate my original point. Ever since the merger anytime there is Japanese text on the screen it is not translated into English. Funimation did this, Crunchyroll does not….

Often times this information is important as it is meant to be viewed to understand the full content of the scene….whether it’s actually animated in to change the Japanese text on screen to english or they do subtitles to tell the viewer what is said i dont care, but crunchyroll does neither.

This is why i was venomously against the merger, crunchy HAS and always WILL put in low effort for dubs. And before someone says “just watch subbed” i would rather after 20 years of watching anime, just straight up quit watching over watching subs end of story.

@EbolaBlast yeah, i said that once "just straight up quit watching over watching subs end of story." then Bleach got canceled and VizMedia/CartoonNetwork was around oh... six months behind on their dub. so i immediately hopped online (i actually didn't hear the news Bleach was canceled till 3 weeks after it happened) and started digging up fansubs. i've been streaming subs and dubs ever since.

once you hit the five to ten years level of experience, you should have figured it out... the dub will take forever... TODAY it is a 2-3 week delay on Funi-Roll. for Sentai Filmworks, sometimes upwards of six months. you wanna wait that long? fine by me.

you wanna bitch about on-screen kanji not being translated? wait till the DVD/BR copies come out and buy those. THEN you'll get your on-screen kanji subs. frankly, if you think Funi-Roll is going to get everything 100% perfect in 2-3 weeks on dubs for JUST streaming files? you are nuts.

Funimation didn't do that. ever. they never got everything perfectly correct on their Simuldubs. the one for FullMetalPanic IV was RIDDLED with errors, and that team at Funi had source materials in both languages, scripts of episodes in Japanese, all of the Japanese video and audio masters, and they got those scripts and video/audio masters ONE WEEK before each episode aired in Japan. that was all the time they had to do their work on the sub and dub content at the same time. they slept at work, ate at work, bathed at work, saw their families sometimes one or two days a week during FMP IV Simuldub.

i do remember Funi outright just came out and said they were entirely done with Simuldubs for MyHeroAcademia 3 or 2? seasons ago. they got it right in S1 and S2 and kept up with the Japanese airdates. but S3 experienced 'production issues' and Funi delayed dubs there for two weeks at a time... twice or three times? in S4 they entirely stopped the Simuldub within either 3 or 5 episodes and announced it wouldn't continue and the 'episode delay' would continue until the season ended. Funi NEVER did ANY on-screen kanji translations on MHA Simuldubs. ever. they always waited till the DVD/BR versions were out, or CartoonNetwork versions for cable TV broadcasting.

frankly, with all the work Funi-Roll has been doing RIGHT since the merger started 2-3 years ago? you just need to hush about your on-screen kanji. ONE problem is not indicative of company-wide gross negligence.
if your memory has that many holes... i feel sorry for you.
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

@Marinate1016 But if he can regenerate his arm, then it hurts no one. Plus as I established, there was no other option. Would you rather Ogrou allow his children and wives to die?

Dawg no one gives a fuck about the regeneration it’s the act of ripping off his arm and having them eat it raw that we’re talking about. Nothing more nothing less. It’s wild. Now stop mentioning me and spamming the thread
@Marinate1016

Don't ever try telling me what to do, and if you didn't want me to mention you, you should have never replied. It was YOUR choice to make a reply to the episode in the first place. People, such as myself, have a right to reply.

The reason it wasn't cooked is beacuse there was no time. Again, THERE WAS NO TIME. THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH TAKING THE BEST ROUTE TO ENSURE YOUR WIVES AND CHILDREN DON'T DIE.

Um what the fuck. Did I just watch this dude rip his arm off and feed it to twins who he got pregnant ๐Ÿ’€ this show has got so bat shit crazy

First: I’d like to point out that anime are not realistic, so getting all hung up on their ways of survival in this anime seems to be illogical.

Second: If I have learned anything about this media, it is that they are always trying to find new ways to “shock and awe” the audience, whether this be in a fight scene or with a pregnancy, so being surprised by such a thing in anime, also seems to be illogical.

Third: What exactly is wrong with him, in his world, in a desperate situation to save, to feed his own flesh to the girls as substance, when their lives are on the line, and his own flesh was the best option for their survival?

Fourth: Do you really think that they should have just let the mothers and their babies die because there was no other source of sustenance for them?

I am genuinely asking to know you perspective on the this situation in the anime.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.
