Something about Hinata getting ramen is just so amusing. She also got a taste of dumplings too. What a meal!

Still a bit yapping and chattering but at least it's not in the same room again with Rimuru and his allies. Hinata and her forces are finally pushing out on the next phase of their plan. About time we're getting some action on the frontlines after the slow pacing ths season. Even Rimuru arrived on the frontlines, nice. Seriously about time. This should get more exciting from here.

Coming in to support Hinata.. what? More like just the fodder for Rimuru and his army. I mean we do need a bunch over whom they could put a presentation of their powers right? What better than these people lol. Anyways, it’s been quite sometime since Rimuru has established his country, but we never actually got a tour of it right? How has it been like living there, how hygienic are the food stalls selling the food there, how green is the grass there, right??? Worry not, they got it covered this episode.

Hinata and those goons, who came to support her, during the whole episode gave a precise description, just how much of a first world country Rimuru’s establishment is. Like give it a rest man, lol, though hey, we actually got to see something other than meetings and… meetings, this season, and that was Rimuru’s army kind of overwhelming those church guys, despite getting beaten left right and centre. That includes those as well who are obviously being played by those seven luminaries.

Though yeah, for the first time this season a cliffhanger didn't end with a meeting already lined up. It did with Rimuru and Hinata, hope that actually means some stakes.

Ah yes, we've switched from a meeting table to a dining table... but still, with meetings, ofc.

Hinata wishes to talk things out with Rimuru and heads straight to Tempest without hiding. On her way, she enjoys the ramen Rimuru invented and crosses the well-paved highway, becoming confident that Rimuru truly wants monsters and humans to coexist. This makes her question the provocative message she received from Rimuru.

Meanwhile, Rimuru has Soei and his other men monitor Hinata. Unsure of her true intentions, he cannot rule out the possibility that she is acting as a diversion. As tensions rise, her subordinate Leonard, along with Renard of the Crusaders and 100 men, launches an invasion on Tempest. To Hinata’s dismay, Leonard's unexpected invasion complicates the situation.

Seven episodes later, we've finally moved past all the meetings, at least for now... Let the war begin!

Stakes don't quite feel there for me but hey, I've bashed the living hell out of the start of this season and at least this was better than the other episodes comfortably. Not perfect by any means with a middle that did drag, but the wacky start with Hinata was a nice change of pace as she relishes food from back home and explores the influences that Rimuru has been able to make, and those not even being the big priorities as well (that is more effective world building than just reciting everything). The ending cliffhanger was fine too, and there was an unexpected attack with Renard there, looking to take down Rimuru and the monsters on his own to 'save' Hinata there. Wouldn't say this is the most exciting episode ever objectively but compared to how boring and lifeless the first six episodes were, a change of pace and a little bit more urgency felt important. Let's see how the stakes rise and how the writing can improve further with the upcoming episodes to finally get something on track again.

Hinata really enjoyed the ramen and gyoza.

Rimuru team is so far doing great.

Shion overdoing the plan was hilarious.

Will Rimuru fight with Hinata? Idk lets see.
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

Hinata eating, cute. Was fun watching her reactions. Need more of that.

Was nice to see them realise how much Rimuru has improved things. Though she didn't even get the chance to talk cause gotta have that one retard who gets easily manipulated and makes a mess of things. Well it's time for their rematch. Hyped for it but more than that I hope the misunderstanding will be cleared and they'll take out the real enemy.

Also Shion being Shion, love her. Everything according to plan, thanks for the praise. Rimuru should have known this would happen.

This is GOOD worldbuilding/plot development. They don't sit at a table and tell us about how neighboring areas are being improved by Tempest, they show it. They don't sit at a table and talk about how the roads are going, they show it. They don't have a scout report about the battle going better than expected, they show it.

Nothing meaningful actually happened this episode (the action was just filler vs filler that happened for plot purposes (the betrayal) and could have been just a report). All they did was finally set up the actual fight for the MCs. They COULD have just talked about it all at the table and then teleported to Hinata. But they didn't. As a result, this was far and away better than the previous 6 episodes of lazy boring garbage. If we didn't already know that the people claiming that worldbuilding/plot are an excuse for bad/boring episodes were wrong, this should prove it. The last 6 episodes could have done worldbuilding/plot like this, by showing it happening rather than talking about it.

I honestly would have been satisfied if the whole episode was just Hinata’s group enjoying what Rimuru has brought to their world, there were lots of good moments there, especially the ramen and gyoza bit, but then there was even action this episode with the fight between Shion’s forces and the knights, so hopefully even the folks that wanted action will be somewhat satisfied this episode, even if the action wasn’t that exciting imo as the monsters cleaned up, who would have thought lol.

But yeah despite that I liked this episode, it’s wild when changing scenery and actually having the characters move makes it more entertaining lol, I won’t lie when it did cut to the characters meeting with each other I was afraid it was gonna be for the rest of the episode but thankfully that didn’t happen. And yeah, it’s a shame that what probably would have been a peaceful negotiation was squandered by those masked assholes planting bullshit into the knights’ heads, I can at least thank them once again for keeping things interesting, as I’m sure it wouldn’t have been that fun to watch Hinata simply talk with Rimuru. I’m looking forward to the next one, since this surely won’t be another time we get blue balled, I’m hoping it won’t be an easy sweep at least like it has been so far.

Now that's more like it! Who knew Tensura can actually pull off proper worldbuilding? Especially loved that bit showing the Kingdom of Blumund and the effects Rimuru's nation had on the world around them.

See, the misunderstanding most fanboys have about the complaints of the meeting episodes is that people who don't like them are somehow just "people who like actions", "shounentards", or whatever-the-fuck excuse they can make to actually praise that shitty pacing. Fanboys are being fed slop, and won't accept criticism, which is just childish.

When you write a fantasy world as rich as Tensura, the potential for worldbuilding is practically limitless... IF you know how to execute it properly, AND take advantage of the anime medium. I mean you have all these monsters, knights, nations, and cities introduced, but somehow your idea of worldbuilding is people sitting mindlessly at meetings for 6 straight episodes, when there are far better-paced, less-boring ways to build your world?

It wasn't even a matter of action. It was just plain, straight boring.

At least we're back on track though (or are we?). I hope the director of this anime takes a more creative approach towards presenting the anime's story and its world, and not meeting episodes again. I get that they're just following the source material, but as this is a visual medium, following the source material TOO CLOSELY can also be a hindrance towards the adaptation.

The loyalty of her men really shows just how highly regarded she is within the order. Trade with tempest sure has made the surrounding countries rich and its people happy. That meal at the ramen joint though was fun. And it sure was interesting seeing their reactions to the advances that Tempest has made infrastructure wise while they been stuck seeing all monsters as hostile. The Yomigaeri sure earned their name when they fought the crusaders for sure. Kinda like saying its that all you got to them despite being outnumbered. Curious to see how things would go from here.

K, the opening scene is literally all I wanted from the first 6 episodes. See how they've flashbacked to show the event, and it was summarized succinctly? If it was in the first 6 episodes, this would've been an entire scene, where they discuss whether it's a good idea if they should go, discuss the pros and cons, then they debate who gets to go, then someone asks "how should we decide this?", then someone mentions drawing straws, then they debate some more, then they show them drawing straws.

Tonkotsu ramen! I would've cried if I was Hinata. This was actually a great scene. Imagine, actual humor from this show! They must've spent all their animation budget that they saved in the first 6 episodes just on the food alone.

Why was the anti-magic barrier scene in episode 3 even needed, when they literally just covered it here in a few lines of dialogue?

Wow, a meeting scene in between other scenes so that the episode doesn't feel dragged out? Is this even the same show?

Yeah, just watching this episode confirms my suspicion that they must've had budget constraints. This whole episode feels far more fluid, even when it's not an action scene. It's miles better than the stiff, boring animation we've had for the past 6 episodes.

Yes, you needed the setup in order to have this payoff, but the setup was far too dragged out and lifeless. There was a lot of info that really didn't need to be presented to us at this point in time. But at least we're finally here.

@Marinate1016 @Yaggamy Please watch this episode, read the comments here, and realize that proper world building doesn't have to be boring.

Best episode of the season so far and it's not really because the fight began but rather that ramen shop scene making Hinata's side seem a bit more human than in those endless meetings. Seriously, we really needed some breaks from all that chatting in order to get into the little slice of life moments like these. Who knew that someone of her caliber had a sensitive toungue huh.

In any case, Rimuru will now clash with her in hopes of clearing up the misunderstanding. Can he do it?

@_gt_ohn Wow crazy, I had the exact same thoughts! Blumund was great, the world was shown and not told, exactly what people have been complaining about for the past 6 episodes.

If this scene was in the first 6 episodes, it would've been one of the knights giving a report saying "The happiness levels in Blumund have risen. Trade has allowed Blumund to prosper, and everything from their produce to their weapons have drastically increased in quality." Then they'd debate whether Rimuru is doing this for evil intentions.

This episode feels like an entirely different show.

Awesome episode, loved the previous ones as well, but this one was probably more enjoyable for casual viewers as you had a nice mix of action, world building and flashback. Finally gonna start seeing some of those board meeting episodes paying off and it’ll be worth it

Hinata and her crew travelling to Tempest and seeing all the positive influence that Rimuru has had on the area like Ramen, paved roads etc was pretty cool. Don’t think an evil demon lord would be introducing a food that good.

Luminaries working behind the scenes to sow more discord this time with Renard and get him to attack as well.. I’m sure that’ll be easily cleared up with a sentence lol.

Right now, we’re just at a crossroads with a lot of actors behind the scenes trying to play chess. Hopefully our MCs are smart enough to see through it and no one gets hurt. Hinata and Rimuru working together as two other worlders would be awesome

@Marinate1016 A good chunk of the information in the first 6 episodes were not important to this payoff at all.

The entire Blumund scene was great, but it wasn't the result of the buildup.

Also, you were definitely saying the board meeting episodes were good. The payoff being good doesn't mean the setup wasn't bad.

Misunderstanding probably means they're going to go with the trope of "this could all be resolved by Rimuru just saying a single sentence about how he only wanted to talk, but instead we're going to have everyone just make wild assumptions so that the unnecessary fight will happen." It's a way overused plot device and it's usually annoying because it depends on characters acting like idiots to deliberately avoid the obvious solution, but at least it will give us the fight we want, so...yeah.

I'm kinda reassured that I wasn't the only one who was bored with the last few episodes and liked this episode. I feel as if I would've enjoyed the previous episodes more if I was a bigger Slime fan tho.

The battle started but Rimuru and Hinata will actually face off in the next episode. I'm not even mad cause this episode was actually pretty good. I agree that the "show, don't tell" approach in this episode is what should've been done in the prior 6 episodes.

Hinata already questioned the authenticity of Rimurus message in the last episode, so please don't forget about your doubts. She probably won't, but until we get to the resolution it will be very frustrating to watch.

Still feel like the first six ep couldve been done much, much better but this was better in spite of its first six ep more than because of it. They actually showed Hinata traveling to explore and see Rimuru's contributions culturally in various ways and teasing how even the mundane stuff like construction of roads are all well planned and executed, and partnerships with him seem to be progressing well. Visually, which was what could have been done more instead of nonstop yapping and talking of nonsense. The action too felt like the series is actually heading somewhere too with a decent confrontation there at the end. Think this was a decent ep but I still don't feel good whatsoever about how anime got to this point with the buildup since everything could have felt more intense and engaging if buildup matched what was there here.
