I just saw the trailer for this, and according to MAL, it looks like it's an alternative version.

For those who watched the 2007 version, should I watch the TV version first before watching the movie?

I think you shouldn't skip the main series. I'm currently watching tv version and it's definitely worth watching if the movie pique your interest in the anime.

I would watch the TV version first. It can be a hit or miss though. Where some see refreshing and inventive visual presentations, others see blatant cost cutting techniques and headache inducing amounts of filters. So be warned.

Yes, and also, just fyi, this whole thing first started in a show called ayakashi, which told old ghost stories, and the mononoke part was the last few episodes, then I guess they just decided to continue it, so I would recommend that too, it's a good show outside of just the mononoke too

I would recommend:
1. last 3 eps of Ayakashi
2. series
3. the upcoming movie

I am planning to go see the movie after seeing only the 2007 version.

I bought an advance ticket for the movie and I'm pretty sure I'm going to see it, so if I feel up to it, I may watch the 2006 version before I see the movie.

I'm sure you can do whatever you want with it.

@TheRealRouges idk. I understand why someone would call it headache inducing.

Yes. Imo it's absolutely worthy of every bit of its MAL score.
