The backstory was no suprise, but I still felt so bad for Tonbo. She must be protected at all costs! I wish time would just stop so they could enjoy their golf days on the island forever!

Another good episode. That was an interesting but a sad backstory. Poor Little Tombo. :(

It's great to see her enjoying playing golf. She's so talented.

A little bit sad, a little bit happy, a little bit hopeless, a little bit hopeful.

Quite a sad backstory to be honest.

And I just found out that the manga is now at volume 49 which I think the manga is a big success there in Japan, I hope this anime would be 24 Eps or something and we might gonna see Tonbo leaving the island (Looking at the newer manga cover, she appeared to be growing up)

But yeah, this is one of the anime that I'll be looking forward the most this season.

This is starting to become a pretty good story, but the CGI on the golf scenes are still pretty bad.

Cute Tonbo.

Very sad backstory :(

Igarashi will be good guardian for Tonbo. ^_^
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

Really nice episode feel so bad for Tonbo losing her parents at such a young age but feel even worse seeing that some of her so called relatives wouldn't take her in.

I assumed the reasoning of the 3-iron would be something like that, but now we got specifics of it being hard to use so was left behind.
Absolutely trash relatives that I'm sure further traumatized Tonbo by a lot, but I'm super happy she found this island that is opposite of those relatives and like how people should be and her grandfather.
My likely guess is Tonbo and island and golf will help Igaiga through his deep depression (he was dead) derived from Pro Golf. Also, that Igaiga helps Tonbo get through her trauma and move forward. Both of them leaving the island together with him being her guardian.
Looking forward to more of this, enjoy everything and the golf. 4/5 for this episode from me, not feeling it some reason.

Iga's face was hilarious this episode lol.

Ngl, this anime is starting to grow on me, I was much less bored than last ep, seems like an anime to relax with.

I've only noticed it now but grandpa and Iga look alike, I wonder if it's just the way the characterd are drawn or if there is something there.

We've got Tonbo's backstory, I almost teard up seeing the islanders trying to help Tonbo open up, precious.

it's really fun to watch tonbo and her big energy
learning about her past was sad, but nice of ojii-san for taking her and to everyone in the island for taking the time to help her recover

the joke about main guy having a scary face is getting way too repeated by now tho, literally 10+ times per episode lmao

favorite "new girls" from fall <3 (lol i only watched these) ... click sig for older seasons

Why does this girl play golf as if it's frisbee? The storytelling for Tonbo's backstory is kind of cringe, but I'll still be looking forward to the next episode.

Wow, that scene in the flashback sequence was just like the situation revolving around the fate of Rin being debated over in the same way by a circle of relatives all of whom didn't want her after the familial death in Usagi Drop.

Cried when the Grandpa hugged Tonbo. That was so sad that she had to hear that nobody wanted her. Didn't expect to get such an emotional backstory so early in the show.

Tonbo may be talented at golf, but she is still busy with the confines of the island's duties, so Igarashi tries on his own with the bunker buildup, but fails whereas Tonbo can easily make the punt. Onto the other holes this time, and it's quite the intimidation with the difference from rather strong headwinds, plus her own natural instincts that leaves him speechless, yet just as surprised at how everything can be done through the lone 3-Iron.

The night's interrogation where Tonbo is called back to the villlage, both her and Igarashi are called to her grandfather's place to get his identity in an island where time and tradition stand still. Seeing that Tonbo is left with the 3-iron after her parents left the island only to meet their deaths, only for her to go together with her grandfather to the island to be taken care of, the significance of it is still the golf that everyone chides her in, and she'll remain that way.

Tonbo not wanting to leave the island, it's her own volition.

Ah, sad Tonbo's backstory... and to think that her parents were going to the golf just before their death...
Now I'm also very curious to see Igarashi's backstory
