A beastman fights like a beast. Man, this episode was hype especially for the battle.

We also got to meet a youkai fox girl too so there's definitely more supernatural entiteis in this show. 2 more episodes left but this one definitely had some of the more battle thirsty scenes in terms combat.

Off to... our gang still doesn't know where they're going.

News of Jinun and Senya being sealed had also reached the monks of the main temple. Hearing that Jinka's spiritual power had further strengthened, Douren eagerly awaited a rematch. Meanwhile, the group arrived at the entrance of the main temple. Their chosen approach was a direct assault through the main gate. Waiting for the group who entered the main temple was Douren, who had foreseen their actions. Will it finally come down to a showdown between Jinka and Douren.

The episode count is down to 13, meaning they're splitting the story like Bleach. Not a big fan, but it gives the studio time for good animation. Tama's upset about being called "older" when she's over 1000 years old herself. Bit of awkward wincest vibes going on, especially with Jinka wanting to marry rather than just be siblings. We're gearing up for some intense rematches between Shinsuke and Resshin, and Jinka and Douren. Resshin's true form is... interesting, given Mizukami-sensei's knack for unique character designs it's not a surprise.

Now with a power-up from multiple sources of spirit power, we'll see if they're strong enough to handle it after their training.

Jinka, Tama and Shinsuke improved thanks to the Mountain Goddess, and Douren feels the excitement to go for one more bout.

Sure, Jinun and Senya have been dealt with at the cost of Jinka's arm, but apart from Rinzu feeling happy that he's alive, Tama's blaming herself for that loss, which Shinsuke doesn't take it the same after he lost Shakugan. The problem on Yazen's part: facing the newer models of the Ten Saints of the Opening of Heaven, he's also doing the testing for his master as well. To think that Rinzu would be that capable with her soul calling, it's a critical skill in times of trouble, especially when they once again face the Dangaisyuu's strongest.

With all hands on deck, Jinka and the gang faces the Dangaisyuu, even as Yazen predicts between himself and Kuzunoha. And the rematch between Jinka and Douren, it goes underway, as well as Shinsuke who thwarts Resshin on the disguise. It's clear that Douren has trained a ton while awaiting Jinka to face him, and Shinsuke faces Barry in his mecha bod, clearing out their grievances. Jinka's arm coming back to him in spirit, but even with Douren and Resshin do have their trump cards awaiting both Jinka and Shinsuke.

It's going to be a long fight to see who emerges victory.

Jinka becoming more sexually active after the training is not what I expect.

I still don't see why they need to fight. The enhanced tiger, or even dragon in some criterias, seem like a good guy to me. They just happened to serve the wrong boss.

I don't know if I hadn't noticed it before, but the close-ups during combat sequences in order to hide lack of animation was especially egregious this episode. Rinzu actively makes this anime much more unbearable. Not a whole lot happened this episode, really. Hopefully things get better soon and this isn't the beginning of a downward trend.

Another action packed episode, plenty of cool effects and beautiful drawings, but the close up cut really break the immersion, Douren seemingly teleport between cuts was especially distracting.

A reminder that AnimeJapan will happen this weekend and Sengoku Youko will have a stage there. There's a good chance they'll reveal stuff for the next cour, and as someone who's read the manga, any look at cour 2 would be HEAVY spoilers, detrimental to experiencing the story for the first time. I cannot stress how badly getting spoiled for this anime would be, so take care and try to avoid any spoilers.

Rinzu is kinda funny but at the same time it feels like she’ll only be there to fawn over Jinka and provide them the spirit call, as well as the obvious reporting back to Mtn Goddess. I can accept Jinka getting a spirit power arm since I knew as soon as I saw it that the goddess’s seed probably wasn’t just for show. Some people are probably gonna think the romantic tension between Jinka and Tama came out of nowhere but I don’t think so, there were quite a few hints that they weren’t just innocently going along as unrelated sibling figures. The fight animation was flashy whenever they weren’t using shake-screen effects and close-ups.

I’m kinda enjoying this even though I’ve had my gripes with some of the defiance of logic the story takes for certain events to happen the way they do (Shakugan’s death, Shinsuke sparing Resshin). I don’t think this is gonna be anywhere near Mizukami’s best work considering how well received Spirit Circle & Biscuit Hammer are but from most of what I hear the second half of this story is where it takes off for a lot of people so hopefully it’ll get a season 2 or the manga translation isn’t too far behind

This is a complete adaptation. Although MAL has it listed for 13 episodes, it's 37 episodes total.

Lmaoo poor Rinzu, Jinka didn’t even remember her.

“She’s not dead. She’s just turned into a rock” 😭 idk if that’s much better Tama. The point remains that Shaku isn’t in the group and won’t be back for a long time, if ever. Feel awful for Shinsuke continuing to beat himself up about it. They had just started getting close too.

Everyone freaking out over Rinzu being able to use soul calling and Tama is just stuck on Rinzu calling her “big sister” πŸ˜‚ good to have some of the gang’s usual laughter back after a pretty sour last few eps.

I knew the whole spiritual transformation was sex coded but damn I didn’t expect Jinka to propose to Tama, especially so soon. Went from brother and sister to future husband and wife real quick. Alabama type shit

Douren vs Jinka was great. I like that the fight is basically Tama against her mom via surrogate fighters.

White fox continue to cook up in every action scene in this show. Sucks it’s under viewed so people not really appreciating it, but the sound design and storyboarding is chef’s kiss πŸ‘Œ.

Jinka got his ass humbled though, went into the fight thinking he would just dominate douren because of the training arc and fights he’s been thru, but didn’t even consider Douren himself had been training. Even with the awakening power up Douren still neck and neck with em. Next week’s episode can’t come soon enough so I can see the result of this and Shinsuke’s fight against Barry

Looks like they reduced it from the full cour to only 13 episodes so I’m assuming they’ll break it up into 2 more cours to finish it off. Either way the group is back at it again. Jinka and Shinuske are both in trouble and wonder if they will use that handy dandy soul calling technique or find a way out of it

I'm really happy that Rinzu was added in this sudden depressing team, where Jinka lost an arm, Tama blaming herself because of what happened to Jinka, and Shinsuke in his revengeful pitiable state πŸ˜‘
I still like Jinka a lot though esp what he told Tama (when he's sucking her spiritual power) about them being a man and wife instead rather than surrogate siblings. Gosh, it's so weird and hot at the same time, it made me question my feelings for this show and my own existence too lmao. I also think Yazen & Tama's mom are indulging into sexual acts (or not) or some other dark methods for Yazen to be powerful or something. Somehow I was disturbed thinking about that even if it's just my personal theory.
Anyways I just feel like this episode is bland since I've seen both these enemies (and battles) before and it felt redundant already but whatever.
I wonder though why Jinka treats Rinzu the way he does when she's literally a sweet, jolly character and she seemed to be the only light shining among them (they all seem to have these dark shadows creeping behind them).
This will be my first time to give an episode here a rating of 4, because I honestly didn't really enjoy this at the fullest.
Hopefully the next episode will give me back my thrills

@WolfWood37 When did it fly away? I thought the katawara that’s the temple part only got up to punch Jinka, I don’t recall it moving anywhere other than that

that new girl is so funny when is lusting after Jinka lmao

Tama and Jinka joking about marriage, that's interesting, but it might not happen due to the forest spirit wanting Tama's soul

and we're back to the fights between Jinka+Mc and the tiger+clown guys, and so far it seems like the enemies have the lead... what will happen next?

also, while in Anilist it's still listed as 37 episodes, in Mal it's separated into 3 seasons, interesting lol

It’s technically not. They’re not blood related in any way, the surrogate sibling term is basically another way of being so close to someone you’d think of them as a brother or sister (clearly not in Jinka’s head tho). It’s still off putting don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t quite cross the incest line

Bruh. Jinka basically turned into Nero with his spirit arm. I thought it was sad that he lost an arm but the power boost seems worth it now.

Zamn. Jinka's new drip looks good. Maybe it boosted his rizz as well since he's rizzing up Tama now lol. I knew their relationship was a bit sexual before but I didn't think Jinka would be the one to escalate it further.

Shinsuke's a lot stronger now than before. Can't wait to see him kill that asshole Barry.

This episode was great. Can't wait for the next one. Shame that this season will end in 2 episodes but it's probably better this way.

Stupidly underrated show!!! Do these anime "fans" nowadays have the attention span and shit taste of a gold fish or something?

Amazing episode! 5/5

Jinka with the Jinchuuriki chakra hand and Shinsuke vs BARRY is hilarious. I love they talk through the kanji in their fights and when they name their attacks. It's so cool.

Some legal incest vibes between Jinka and Tama. Poor Rinzu.
