The official website of the Zegapain anime series announced the production of a sequel to the television anime, Olta Moda-hen, on Thursday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured).

The original Zegapain television anime by Sunrise aired in 26 episodes in Spring 2006. The story follows Kyou Sogoru, an ordinary high school student who is led by a mysterious transfer student, Misaki Shizuno, and gets involved in a battle against giant robots in another world.

The Zegapain ADP compilation movie premiered in Japan in October 2016. The movie, featuring new scenes, commemorated the anime's 10th anniversary.

Bandai Entertainment released the television anime on six DVD volumes in North America in 2007-2008 and in a Complete Collection DVD in 2009. Sentai Filmworks reacquired the license in 2013.

Wow didn't expected this to come-back, the concept and first half was really very interesting but later on it was a complete mess and Dissapointment let's see how this sequel goes.

Somebody sure seems to care about Zegapain - I never saw the series so I wouldn't really be able to tell why. Doesn't really seem like something worth digging up, though again I wouldn't really know, other.  I  saw someone mention that this was the first leading role for Kana Hanazawa, which means something to someone, not me though.

A 2006 anime getting a sequel, and there are people who think No Game No life won't come back because it's been too long. :3

I've never watched this anime, when I remember I'll pick it up to see.

I wouldn't and i mentioned the reasons already but I will watch the sequel to see if they could improve something since I really like the concept but man the character writing, pacing, mystery reveals all are way too dissapointing and even the action part is so boring because low standards cg mecha.

Do you find it boring and not living up to expectations? Or is there some kind of plot holes and delusional development?

@RobertBobert plot holes are thier obviously and even they made one of the weakest and generic antagonist after hyping it like crazy in first half and ending is also like every mecha ever.

@Lavi_kun Sounds like it will be an interesting experience, but only for once. Although I wonder why they decided to make a sequel.

@Lavi_kun I'm generally intrigued by how Sunrise develops the universe of their non-Gundam shows. Or, like with Code Geass, is there nothing out of the ordinary?

@Lavi_kun I thought that their new business plan was only about Gundam, but it is likely that they have also started to develop their other IPs as well.

Wow, I vaguely recall that show, though I never watched it. Surprised it is popular enough to get a sequel.

Totally unexpected lmao. It is one of my favorite anime but I have mixed feelings about the announcement, ADP was not that great and the story doesn’t need a sequel at all. On the other hand, it is great to know the franchise hasn’t been forgotten by Sunrise/Namco and hopefully it can get the attention it deserves this time.

@malvarez1 I wouldn't be surprised if this is more of a passion project than anything else, but I could be wrong.
