I just found out that there's a manga for this series. I have been reading the Italian comcs version, and I find it very interesting and comical. The characters are fairly well developed, the artwork is very good, and the storyline, though at first a bit cliched, gets better and a bit darker. However, I do not recommend reading the English novels; it's written for children, and I felt like I was reading a soap opera more than a magical girls type of book. Haven't watched the cartoon yet, so I can't emit an opinion on it.

I started this thread 'cause I first though this comic was not that well known, (and maybe it isn't), but now I'm curious about other people's opinion about it :)
P.S. So far, I like the Italian comic version best ;)

You beat me through starting this thread ^^ Currently I was the one who's updating this whole entry including character profiles.

I personally prefer the Italian comics, I love the whole better plot better although I love some different points of the show as well.
Other then that I truly prefer the comics all the way. The show kinda butchered Caleb's character with Corny.

To RICEA42991: Thanks for updating the profile! :D I hope more people finds out about the series and read it ;)

The Italian comics are being translated in English, and I have seen in Borders. I don't know where to find the manga online (gome).

I cannot believe the show butchered Caleb's character. I mean, isn't he supposed to be the cool and almost perfect boyfriend? O_O

Sadly the comic which was translated in Dutch and sold here is gone. So I need to search on the net for the rest of the comics.

For those who are interested in the comics, http://home.versatel.nl/m.th.joustra/tekstenWitch/scansvandestrips.html is an excellent site to get English translated copies far above and beyond what is (and probably ever will be) available in the States.

And yes, W.I.T.C.H. is backed by Disney. It originated in Italy.

Here in Bulgaria they are publishing the Italian comic and I loved it from fist sight, generally for its art. The idea of humans having the powers of the elements is another think I really like, so it's become one of the few things I buy every month. I've just recently found out that there was also a Japanese manga and I'd love to read it. So if anyone knows where I can download it scanned, please fell free to tell me. ^^'

Technically both, in a way. There's the original Italian comic, then a manga remake of the same.

I've read the comic (got tons of those comics when I was a kid) and watched the cartoon. So far I like the comic the most, maybe because of the nostalgia. Not a fan of the cartoon, I don't like the art style and **spoiler**:
So yeah, I might read the manga as well.
