The orders were of complete annihilation, and I must say the sternritters did take that thing to heart. The residents of shadow as Yhwach say, and they indeed started popping one after other.. coincidentally before every squad captain. Though, the highlight being Bazz B against Toshirou.

Toshirou who already lost his bankai last time around, may seem at a huge disadvantage against one of the faces of sternritters, Bazz B, but hey one should never underestimate the power and the kind of cooperation having huge honkers by your side can bring. Godbless Matsumoto. And then there was one other pair as well, Nanao and Kyoraku’s, who might not have given a tough time to Haschwalth, but still good for them.

Liked how it didn’t even take Bazz B mere minutes to stand his ground against Toshirou, after taking the attack once. That fight is looking good but there’s more to it, I mean Soi Fon’s EPIC entrance against BG9, the way it was back in the first trailer took the cake but again this being the start, we cut short a tad too early.

Bazz B has already overwhelmed Toshirou, that’s the bad news, but that cliffhanger with Urahara contacting Mayuri at the last minute and conveying he has already devised a way to restore bankai is the good one here. And Ichigo is there now.. just.

The art direction and character design were flawless. The usage of CGI was also really good and it blended perfectly.

Now, I’m not a big fan of how they transitioned between fights, some transitions were too sudden and in weird spots, imo. The only one I liked was Soi Fon getting clapped and it going back to Kyouraku and Jugo’s place.

Also, no hint of fluid animation. Still way better than the classic bleach regular episodes in that regard, but not as good as the great episodes back then.

I feel like Askin and Mayuri’s banter was my favorite part of the whole episode.

As the Last 9 Days of the world commence, the soul reapers are getting ready for the battle!

Yhwach sets his plan to end the world in nine days in motion by pulling the Seireitei into the Schatten Bereich for the Stern Ritter to invade. It also seems like Haschwald is gonna fight Kyoraku eh? I thought he'd be the first to tango with Ichigo, but I guess Ichigo's opponent will be Uryu as it was fated to be. Mayuri. Fucking Mayuri. I love him so damn much. but the spotlight was definitely on my man Hitsugaya, and holy shit he actually seems quite cool this time around. Still don't think he should have explained to his enemy exactly how his ice works though, probably would have been better to just keep his unmeltable ice a secret. Also seems likes Soi Fon’s will go up against BG9.

The animation of course continues to be stellar as always especially during the Hitsugaya fight the red background is something I actually appreciate and I think is a bit better than the manga imo. Though I'm starting to see the same problems as the first cour where most dialogue is conveyed through stills though the effects look good there's not a lot of movement going on in the screen. Great compositing though.

All in all it seems like they are doing a good job so far considering this is where I started to lose intrest manga wise and I can see them changing things up to make it a more pleasurable experience for all bleach fans.

Looks fantastic. So far my only complaint is the lack of sakuga but they're definitely saving it for the more hype fights. Still looks really good, I'm glad they resolved the production issues from the first cour.

Mayuri got a golden makeover LOL. If anything, he always seems to know how to make an impression.

Happy to see Toshiro and Rangiku in action although I do wish their fight was longer. On the other hand, it's great they gave charisma to the Wandenreich members to make the fights more entertaining. Hearing some of the original Bleach OST was also pleasing.

I genuinely felt worry for the captains. Despite learning to fight without Bankai, the Quincies are still too powerful. Can’t wait until Ichigo returns

Let the action begin...
Bazz-B vs Toshiro and Rangiku looked fine, although it's probably far from the best battle we're seeing in this cour in terms of animation and sakuga.

An amazing episode again. I know there are a lot of things to come in this cour and some incredible fights later on in the season which are supposed to be the highlight of the cour, So... I can't wait for those ones. But, this was a great episode as well. Quincies are too strong for the captains left without their bankais. Toshiro and Rangiku were looking great as always. Rangiku is so beautiful. Can't wait for more. A strong episode indeed.

A fairly weaker episode, one of the weakest episodes so far in this whole Thousand Year Blood War arc. It looked decent but the flow of the episode was iffy, transitions with fights weren't great and that big shounen problem of showing various fights within the episode at different points with tons of dialogue explaining what happened to fill time and a lot of stills made the episode feel somewhat lifeless for me at times. It's definitely not going to be among the most important, hype-inducing episodes in this cour so it wasn't a complete failure or disappointment but I wasn't as engaged as I hoped to be with this either. The fights that happen here weren't as interesting either as some in the first cour, which make sense. But at least it was nice to see some characters get more screentime like Hitsugaya, Matsumoto and Soi Fon to name a few. The first cour didn't give much screentime to some of the Soul Reapers since chaos was just happening everywhere during a quickfire war but here, you get to see them more up close it feels like and how they've improved to handle the Quincies during such a strenuous period. Overall, an average at best episode for me.

Was okay. Felt like the animation doesn't feel as fluid as the first cour initial fights and the pacing feels really jittery, doesn't allow for scenes and sections to breathe. I get that it's probably supposed to feel chaotic but it just doesn't, feels static and jumpy and really knocks me out of the episode. Art and music is great however, always love the orchestral imposing music when the Quincies gain the upper hand in something and the still shot of Soi Fon arriving looked really good. Hoping that the budget is being saved for upcoming fights and that the next couple episodes slow things down a tad because at the moment it feels like an inferior version of first cour so far.

This Second Invasion is pretty much fights nonstop in the manga, I feel like maybe they're rushing the action to emphasize on more important plot points in the future.

Cour 4 will definitely need a lot of new/expanded content, and the anime is going to be 52 episodes in total. So unfortunately some stuff is going to feel rushed, I just hope the fans get compensated for that later on.

Enjoyed seeing Rangiku and Toshiro fighting together, thought they would be strong enough to take Bazz B even without Toshiro's bankai

This episode was kinda meh, not much fun exposition, mostly flawed exposition. Look Toshiro and Soi Fon, getting their asses kicked after their exposition.

Hey, at least had some Nanao action, which is the rarest thing in Bleach.

I must have watched a different episode from y'all who are saying it was mid because this episode was good.

The Quincy invasion continues and they continue to be OP af. Hitsugaya and Soi Fon did a decent job of standing their ground, but the Sternritters are just too strong to take out without a Bankai. Luckily Urahara figured out how to resolve that issue and phoned in just in time. They're gonna need that info ASAP or else things will keep going south while Yhwach's plans inch closer to success. Also, very little Ichigo screentime obviously but it was cool to see a bit more of the training he's doing rn.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

This episode didn't feel very rushed, which is good. Didn't have any problem with the pacing of the episode, they managed to fit exposition and fights with no problem. Soi Fon's part of the episode especially looked nice.
The scene after the credits puzzles me. If I remember right, the thing Ichibei talks about

That beginning meeting among Sternritters gave me major flashbacks of Aizen and his meeting with his Espada. Was that intentional? More than likely yes, because of nostalgia reasons and for us to see nothing has really changed; "villains" still making plans how to defeat "heroes". Though, there was one tiny difference and that was the lack of tea. Oh yeah. Something about villains sipping tea when having their villain meeting gives such a sophisticated feeling, (even if they all wouldn't be that sophisticated) yet now...it's all business. After all, the Quincies are here to bring "peace"! I really liked how they made the camera angle move when they showed the meeting among all Sternritters and the top of the table surface was this episode's name. It felt very smooth and seriously gave that villainous meeting vibe.

This episode made me think something, and I'm not sure if it was really ever addressed in the manga, but how long does Quincies live? I know Yhwach is like a special case, but the way Askin talked and all the other implications before that...make it sound like Quincies too can live 100-plus years and still remain in their youthful appearances. Does this mean if they live in the World of the Living, only then they'll age normally like humans do? But as long as they're at Soul Society where is Reishi, it's a different story? Because if we think about the last cour, at least to me it seemed like Ryuuken aged normally. So did Masaki and because they were considered 'elite' Quincies, we can assume they weren't run-out-of-mill ones...so, does the location matter when comes to aging? Or, the fact if Quincies are Sternritters or not? Because we've only seen so far mostly Sternritters' POV of things, it could be they're a special case, but even so...I couldn't help but think that especially when they talked about Quincy King's rising and the time it would take.

And sunflower Mayuri makes an appearance! He really looked ridiculous, but still very loyal to his style: ridiculous but in such a way it was also a smart move. I'm not sure what kind of texture or animation technique the staff used, but the fact Mayuri's (and Nemu's) outfit seemed to be 'alive' was a very neat trick. They could have just gone with yellow and white colors that glow a little bit, but nope! They went over that little extra mile to give Mayuri's and Nemu's outfits that specialty that one would expect and wait for from Mayuri.

But man...working in a place like his lab at the moment, would be one form of torture as it seemed just so...bright. Must be nice, when one doesn't have migraine issues, eh?

Heh, Askin being all '-ck this sh*t, I'm out' toward Mayuri, when he at first measured how much effort it would take to take down Mayuri. xD And then Mayuri slaying back. Talk about two smart people going all 'too much effort' versus 'needs more time to craft such a plan I can crush you fully'. Though, that last look Mayuri gave to Askin...oh boy. He seriously wanted to crush Askin, like the lil' bug he was in his eyes.

Never understood why Toshiro had that cloth wrapped around his head, because earlier he didn't have. It just...ditto. Made me think of Rambo or some sort of other action movie where the "hero" has a bandana around their head...but Toshiro is supposed to be that cool guy, so heat shouldn't be a problem with him, so why?  Though considering his opponent is Bazz-B, heat will be soon a problem for him...and yes, I can see the irony, that was before the heat problem, lol.

I must say, I really liked how Rangiku and Toshiro worked together against Bazz-B! I had missed such synergy, and especially Rangiku teasing Toshiro! Rangiku's explanation was a bit over the top, but it was still super cute! Especially when Toshiro clearly resisted his urge to roll his eyes while Bazz-B was just staring in there, probably thinking 'lots of words, I don't get anything!' Lol. But yeah. That was a super cute moment between Toshiro and Rangiku and reminded just how good a captain and lieutenant combo they make~. Unfortunately...it just wasn't enough this time around, despite their brave attempt to go against Bazz-B.

As a side note, I must admit I still find it pretty ridiculous how people explain in the battle against their opponent the 'trick' they're using...that's just begging trouble against them.

That moment with Omaeda and his sister was very touching. Despite the fact, Omaeda has been...well, not my favorite character (and probably either not many other people's), that moment was still touching. A bit of cliché hero talk, but at times those are needed, eh? Especially if a little girl is scared and crying.

Luckily Soi Fon came to the rescue, because while Omaeda's attempt was...well, okay, it wasn't enough. Not to mention, I just loved how Soi Fon acted all badass when she showcased her shunko! And yes, while that wasn't (at least yet) enough, I still liked how Soi Fon ride on her thrill over the fact she had managed to master her own shunko.

What caught my attention was how Soi Fon called BG9 in the subtitles 'freak', while in actuality she called him 'bakemono'. It was a small thing, but because of that, the meaning got a bit changed. While "freak" would have suited BG9, because of what he did earlier to Soi Fon in cour 1, I think 'bakemono' was a bit more suited as it can be translated as a monster, and in a sense, BG9 is exactly that. (Because he is basically a walking weapon, a robot, an entity that shinigami probably hasn't seen ever before.) Even so, despite the light tone difference, both are okay when thinking about the context. But even so...with my limited  Japanese knowledge, it just caught my attention. ^^'

And once again, Urahara to rescue! Good thing Mayuri didn't cut him off right away when he heard his voice, since Gotei 13 is in a dire situation and will need all the help they can get.

Hmm, that ending with Ichigo walking toward the torii gate was interesting. I had to google a bit to find out what "irazusando" at the end meant, but I wasn't disappointed when I did!

I found a person on Reddit explaining it like this:

"It means "no entry Sandō".

A Sandō is a path/road leading to the entrance of a Shinto shrine, with a torii (the wooden gate Ichigo is walking towards) marking the origin of the path."

Very interesting. I can't wait to see how Ichigo will make his way to the torii or if will he meet more struggles when going toward it, as why else he would have that wooden sword with him? (I'm just waiting for a jumpscare in here...)

It was ok. Animation wasn't particularly special but I'm just assuming this was a low priority episode due to new staff. Pacing was also ok. Some cut dialogue and Omaeda's scene is less brutal than it was in the manga. Really liked the opening scene with the Sternritter paying homage to the Espada and the ending scene is entirely new. Probably used as setup for
.

Yep, I was right. The added scenes don’t do much for the story and the core narrative is still being followed and will continue to be followed until the end. Which is unfortunate because it wasn’t very good in the manga. Also, all the people who Said Toshiro VS Bazz was going to pop off, whoops.

Why would Toshiro just stand in the direct line of that fire instead of shifting out of the way? If they aren't going to make some of the Quincys' upcoming one-hit shots very believable, the least they can do is show the captains using their noggin to dodge and evade.

Great episodes but man those cuts were so making me not get invested for the actions as much. They would literally take me out. That’s my biggest complain so far. But I gotta say; wow they are still actually surprising me here.

I really still hope the added scenes are an indication of them fixing the next elements and parts.

This entire final arc is really bad. I don’t know why people had hopes of a massive overhaul, it was pretty clear that it will be virtually unchanged from the manga in any real substantial sense. Every addition that has been made has been extremely superficial (or something for superfans to geek over) and they’re even cutting some content as well. The art is good but the actual animation in these episodes is extremely standard and even bad in places by adapting the manga too closely, as some things work visually in manga paneling that don’t work in animation (entire Soi fon shunko bit looked awful). But I’m sure fans will spam 10s and scream peak like their lives depend on it.
