I have a question, was Haruki’s sister his actual sister or did he just call her that like Maru calls Kiruko?
I don't think Haruki's sister is his bio sister as they were living together in an orphanage and also that would make his feelings and sexual attraction to her a bit more appropriate :p

Everyone's gushing about Oshi no Ko, Jigokuraku and dem man but this has genuinely been my favorite seasonal so far. This backstory hurts man. It explains so much about Kiriko and those scars... the more I think about it, the more I'm horrified. Also, nice to hear Hijikata's VA in Robin. I recognized that voice so quickly.

Don't mind it, they are all different Anime. I'm just glad and thankful that they gave us a season with all these unpredictable hits

You were watching the wrong subs. That's the SDH (subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) version, not the standard English subs.

I kinda liked the first episodes a bit more. Still rated this one highly, IMO it's the best anime of the season, but narratively the first two episodes pacing felt better. This felt like a lot of background exposition at once, followed by what it looks like a "battle episode"? I just hope there's time for more actual story in the middle of all this.

Ok we got the explanation but I’m still not a fan of that brain swapping thing. I mean what’s the point of this? In the first couple episodes Kiruko was a badass girl, now it’s just a brat with a sister complex. Feels like a downgrade to me.

I liked that Maru's reaction was basically - you are a guy, so what? Indeed, if they get along well, what would be the matter. Apart from Kiruko no being into him, with his siscon and all.

Interesting world is shaping up so far, I wonder where the journey will bring them, and now I am more intrigued about Doc and Robin. Something is definitely fishy there.

Honestly the backstory was some weird shit (Did Haruki just m********e while being in her sister's body??)  but makes sense as to how Kiruko is mentally a man.

I like the fact that everybody is talking about Kiruko/Haruki's identity but nobody is talking about the post credit scene (yes, there is one and it is not a preview of ep 4) that grow the mystery around the childs in the complex.
The childs, the environment they are and what is being teached to them is not normal (but that not really a surprise).

Dang this series is getting better and better each episode!
Really good flashback and explains the purpose of their journey very well. The flashback is touching and brutal too.
Why is this anime not more popular? This is like the best show this season along with Oshi no Ko.

PS: I actually ship Maru and Haruki even more after knowing his past self >//<

Same here, this season is amazing.
The sad part is this amazing series is nowhere close to the popularity of Oshi no Ko :(

It is getting better and better. Kiruko masturbating while being trapped in his adored onee-chan's body  to find solace in her flesh is the ultimate level of sexualized brother-sister relationship I have seen in anime. There is nothing to top this.

Then the question gets asked: How do you deal with such an angelic face when there is a boy's mind behind the facade? Maru got in a deep shit with his feeelings for "her" that he will have to deal with in the next episodes I guess.

Anime only here. So in the previous episode at around the 11min mark we are shown cameras observing the children. In the bottom left corner you can see that its dated 2023. The flashback that occurs in this episode is dated as 2034 (11 years from then). The flashback is stated to be 5 years  prior to the events of the main story when the main girl is 15 years old (which would make it 2039) . Also in the previous episode they said that they were only 5 years old when the world-changing tragedy ocucrred.
In the "Heaven" compound the kids seem to be some sort of x-men type experiments with enhanced physical capabilities as well as some having additional powers.  For example - the girl in episode one who foresaw that there would be a test coming up. Another example is the white haired artist boy who I initially assumed could see beyond the walls of the compound or into some sort of parallel dimension where the creatures that he draws live.
These children are bred for a cause, we know that they are test-tube babies because the end of the episode proposes that the children in the compound seem to start off as faceless.
The kids in the compound wonder about going outside of their outside.
So far all of this leads me to believe that these kids are what cause the tragedy to occur. And the maneaters are either the drawings brought to life by the white-haired artist boy, or more likely they break what holds the dimensions apart and release the man-eater creatures into the world.
Meaning the tomato farm that delivers to tokyo is likely a red herring because the timeline doesn't line up.
Its entirely possible that the white haired artist is the doctor who performed the brain surgery on the MC. (Although it could be one of the other white haired boys, or anyone really. But basically the white haired artist is more than likely a major antagonist if not the overall big bad)
Most if not all of this was likely obvious to everyone but I don't have any friends who are watching this really enjoyable anime alongside me so I just wanted to write down my thoughts somewhere and share them.

Honestly I didn't understand anything anymore, it has a lot of lore, almost like made in abyss, I just hope they explain what the fuck is going on.

Haruki's backstory is quite striking, the community he lived in reminds me a lot of the ones from The last of us xd

The guy (Haruki) is in love or at least obsessed with his sister °___°

I'm loving the series but my reaction throughout the episodes is this:

Kiruko's hair grew back in a different color than before the "brain transplant?" A brain transplant already sounds like a huge stretch...

That is one shady doctor, wonder if he went to this heaven place or what. Definitely seems like some kind of brain transplant, but it's even weirder because of the leg injury present too. Probably going to end up being the best show of the season IMO.

So it was kind of how I suspected Kiruko to be (I thought it was like a certain character in Summertime Render) except only the brother's mind is in the body and not the sister's. The doctor definitely did some shady surgery and I'm thinking it was an opportunity to try a brain transplant (wouldn't be surprised if he was behind the gunshot that the sister got too). Btw, seeing the brother's half corpse laying there after his sister pulled him from the man-eater, that was brutal and a miracle he even survived that.

This episode went by so fast that when the credits rolled I thought only half of the episode had finished. The post-credits scene was disturbing, with the girl saying how babies normallly don't have faces (wtf is going on, cloning maybe??) Anyways, looking forward to the next episode and the fight with the man-eating fish creature.

This show is getting more and more insane. It's been a long time since I saw a story in which I couldn't predict what's going on at all. Also the incest part was fucked up. I wished they made the brother normal. Why is there need for incest in so many anime?

That aside I am extremely curious how this world even got into this state? What even are these monsters? Also what's the faceless baby that they were talking about in the end? I really hope this show has atleast some satisfying answers for everything that's happening because I am very intrigued at the moment.
