That was one hell of an episode! So sad to see so many cute NPCs face such grueling deaths.
I'm Bruneian and I like anime. And Manchester United. And fat cats.

I've seen some people saying Faputa is one-dimensional, and I can see why... But the thing is, that's the point. Faputa is a creature who's been created to avenge her mother who's been used and wronged by the people she trusted, whose wish and body have been sacrificed. The only thing Faputa knows is this : that she needs to act out on the rage inhabiting her mother who cannot act for herself, that she needs to destroy the village made out of these inhuman sacrifices.
This is everything Faputa knows, giving us the impression that this is everything she is. But the truth is she's a lot more than that. Underneath this rage, she is playful, affectionate, curious... She has so many facets, so many emotions, that get overshadowed by her rage (which is exactly why her robot guard prevented her from killing Riko : had she killed her, she would've lost herself to her rage for good).
At the end of the episode, she realizes she can be more than that. After having been denied her purpose and physically destroyed, proving she is nowhere near as invincible and powerful as everyone thought, she's been brought back by the villagers who give her their body to eat just like they ate her mother's children, because they see a value in her she couldn't herself see. Because their entire life and purpose has been leading to this moment where Faputa's real value would come out. Her purpose stolen, the ones she wanted to kill now healing her, Belaf sharing his memories with her while wishing for her to find her true value, all these lead her to step out of this vengeful beast she turned herself into, in order to be reborn as the true princess, who is so much more than a bloodthirsty animal.
I love what they did with her character, although I regret the focus has been shifted away from her for a long time before this final part.

After all, this question of finding yourself, your own purpose, and managing to move on in order to rebuild yourself into who you really are, is something that always mattered a lot in Made in Abyss.
This is, for example, something we can also find in Nanachi's arc. I got really worried when Mitty came back due to fearing that the show was only bringing her back as a cheap way to make the viewers feel something, but it turned out a lot better than I thought. Nanachi didn't actually move on from Mitty, they were still living with this deep sadness and guilt, as well as the hope Mitty would somehow come back. After all, they're not the one who took Mitty's life back in season 1, and they even looked away while Reg was doing the dirty job. Here, they've been forced to do it themself. They've been forced to take that decision of letting go of Mitty by themself, without someone else to help (of course, what happened in season 1 was a complicated matter because Reg was the only one who could kill Mitty, but still). It was the only way for them to truly move on for good and finally live for themself and for those they can still help.

Finding your true purpose, moving on from pain and rage, finding what you truly value but also being aware of what it takes to make a dream come true and stopping to think if such sacrifices are even worth it...
This show really has some great thematics discussed in depth, which is part of what makes it so great.
It's a real shame the gratuitous torture and the author's disturbing view on children are only getting more and more noticeable, and while I'm fine with the lack of exploration, I find it sad that this peculiar feeling of mystery that could heavily be found in season 1 and the movie is pretty much gone in this season, not to mention that the atmopshere of the village is much less immersive and fascinating than what we previously got, but it still has a lot of true qualities.

An episode of so many emotions!

Faputa goes berserk and starts a killing spree! However, most villagers sacrifice themselves to save Riko, which shows how strong their bond has become.
Luckily, Nanachi returns just in time to save the day! Faputa faces a dilemma of whether to continue her actions, which helps to further develop her character.
However, she is interrupted by the invasion of some beasts, and they almost kill her. Then, the villagers decide to sacrifice themselves to save Faputa, and she unlocks some kind of Super Saiyan mode as well.

bloodiest episode I've ever seen. I really liked it, I think Faputa will be able to defeat these monsters. Faputa has memories of the past, she became quite weak.
