| Oscars are BS. Pinocchio just won best animated film, can you believe it? It's the nth remake of a film based on a 140 years old novel!! They are running out of ideas.  When Koe no Katachi -the best animated film in history- was released, it wasn't even nominated, LOL. Anyways, can't wait to watch Suzume no Tojimari, it will be available in my country next month. This will be my first time ever watching anime in a theater/cinema as an adult. |

To be fair the animated feature category in the 89th Academy Awards was very strong even without those two and as someone who hates all awards shows I shouldn't even be talking about this stuff but I don't find the 89th Academy Awards nominees for best animated feature ti be as controversial as anime fans seem to. |

No it did not qualify. Its North American release is in april and it did not get a limited LA release. |

| Just the fact that the oscars have a animated film category makea it BS in itself. Animation is not a genre. Animated film should compete in their respective genre category. |
