DAMN, Fujiko needs to have that bracelet on more often if it can get her naked and lie down next to anybody.
I had to view that scene a couple times before I was satisfied.

I'm glad Julia became cute in the end though, especially after she changed her mood in the canoe.

I think this one is kind of forgettable and even makes some poor choices. It takes a long time to get anywhere and the villains' motivations are vague; what did the priest guy need the book for? He was doing quite well with his fake one and we're never told the book is valuable except for Fujiko's supposed buyer, who turned out to be the priest anyway. Goemon's motivations for his actions are also very unclear, though he's not very important in this one.

Lupin III has always been at home with exaggeration, but still this one feels more fanciful than most Lupin works with that gigantic skyscraper with an ugly face on it, the magic vault, Zenigata's sniffing machine, and the hypnotized soccer team bombers. Lupin's descent down the building, going from parachute to make-shift water-slide to snowboarding, was also way over the top. I don't prefer it this way.

It's quite odd to see the villains of the piece subdue people with non-violent sleeping-gas bullets and then have Jigen blow away several people just guarding the building against intruders. Usually security guards are off-limits for real violence because otherwise it means they suffer to satisfy the greed of Lupin and company.

It's pretty weird to hear Lupin's uncle call him "Lupin", since he must also be a Lupin. I wonder why they never acknowledge that Lupin's given name is/has to be Arsene.

Big breasts are always part of Fujiko's character design, but some scenes in this really take it a bit far.

For some reason I was annoyed by the way the characters stare at the ruined building during the entire end credits sequence. What are they even looking at?

It didn't make a lot of sense, though. We're shown that she's even bratty enough not to care that the boat is sinking if it means she has to do some work but then a few minutes later she's changed her mind with nothing happening in between that could cause this change. Given that characters like Lupin and Fujiko aren't completely likable, maybe letting her stay kind of annoying would have been better.

Having the usual one-shot heroine be a kid this time is an interesting change, but they don't do much with it. She's barely in the film until the climax, where it's too late to make her interesting. I also don't know why she likes Lupin so much.

This one was strongly influenced by 90s movies. It also featured the typical rushed escape from the skyscraper and the laid back ending that takes place just outside of it.
Too bad that that kind of storytelling is a bit boring to me.

For now this film along with the one directed by Miyazaki, are those that I liked most of all. Despite not being up to the one directed by Miyakazi, the narration is bubbling with plot twists, and also manages to keep a common thread during the various events. Beautiful drawings and character design, catchy the ending.

I really enjoyed Julia; her voice, personality, appearance, character arc she was just so cute! (Granted I have been binging through the Lupin franchise and have had limited encounters with lolis as a result but that changes nothing!)

My loli favoring tendencies aside I have always enjoyed Lupin III's one-shot heroines thus far, with Julia as stated before being no exception.

Although no project has been announced these last 23 years, 8 months, 13 days I am waiting in anticipation for Julia's return as Lupin IV (as suggested by Lupin near the end of the movie), in her own spinoff series of no less than 24 full-length episodes.

Also, considering the time it took Zenigata to build that Lupin Tracker (whose elephant-nosed design I quite enjoyed); in addition to being nigh indestructible and having the luck of the devil, he may be far more intelligent than expected (even if it is wasted genius).

Zenigata is immortal
He's also very good at creating weird things, still a lovely guy as ever xD

Fujiko is definitely need that bracelet, so she can't betray anyone :P
Julia for Lupin IV please! She's adorable!

So, this should be Kurita Kanichi's first Lupin ever

I refuse to believe this is from 1995
It's way too good
The animation, backgrounds are simply amazing

That building was something alright. The vault, especially, was pretty cool. The main characters were all nice here, but Julia was a bit annoying at first. She pretty much stole that doll and then tried to solve it with money. lol Must have learned with her father. Well, it was nice I guess. You gotta love sequences in which buildings are collapsing and the characters, in this case Lupin, start to run for their dear life. The ending song was good too. And I loved that Fujiko almost ran away with the diamond, the only valuable thing left for them, in the end. xD

I find it worthwhile overall but did have very strange issues. I feel like overall plot feels like they want to use for the newer season (if ever happened back then) but then decided to turned into film. This made it mismash of too many random adventure scenarios and too many ideas used. Still enjoyable to watch, the animation was incredible as expected from Telecom. The 200-floored building was very cool to watch. I found Julia rather nice and quite simple-minded.

Oh there were few amusing logic issues that really does not hold up. Like the strange football scenes really straightup from one of Part II episodes and does not mesh well. Also when Zenigata went into the luggage its really strange that the one who hold up the luggage didnt recognise the weight difference. But ultimately Zenigata this time didnt had a very good time this time around..

While never expected to be as good as the Miyazaki's film but the music were very disappointing! Nothing really standout here.

This is just a bunch of bs I wrote down while watching this movie quality special...

Kanichi sounds really spot-on for his first time voicing Lupin, he's completely indistinguishable from Yasuo. Fitting having the Part 1 artstyle brought back here for his first time voicing the character.

That futuristic gigamall city hellscape, no way, fuck no!! Terrorism is an extreme way to do away with it, but fuck no! I wouldn't want to exist anywhere near such a menacing thing, and I wouldn't want to know that such a thing exists on the same landmass as me.

This is my second time giving a pre-2000s Lupin movie/special a 9/10. This was a really enjoyable watch, having the parts of Cagliostro I liked, but with the things I didn't like from it swapped out with better stuff. The animation wasn't as impossibly good as Fuma, but nothing Lupin will ever be as obnoxiously fluidly and perfectly animated as that special. Still, I think this is possibly the best movie to watch if that's how you want to get into Lupin III. This feels like what Cagliostro should've been for me.

Also, we got a quick peek at TMS flexing one of their specialties besides anime, being the studio a lot of western cartoons like Tiny Toons got outsourced to.

But he wouldn't be "the Third" if he, and his dad, weren't named after grandpa Arsene.

Not bad for a Lupin film but I feel none of Lupin III's forays into the big screen ever lived up to the infamous Mamo.
