The last 4 episodes kind of ruined this otherwise amazing series for me. I really love it but the end should have been like it is in the Manga.
(I know the manga came after the anime)

I didn't find the end disappointing, but that's because I wasn't expecting anything to begin with, this series already lost me somewhere around the first half, I kept going on because it was fun to watch with other people as we made fun of it. lol

Anime would be a Masterpiece, but pacing in the last third of the series was faster then Usain Bolt running his 100m WR. Still an great anime of course. Only the ending is debatable, but after all it’s just personal preference.

Nah I really enjoyed the ending, really like the lesson of how life will continue on and thrive even against impossible odds, it just what happened towards that end that brought it down significantly, the whole spaceship waifu thing was completely uneeded and really only happened because they needed zero two and hiro to be together no matter what, even while staring death in the eyes. Additionally, they introduced the ACTUAL big bag villain of the story 2 episodes before the show ended without an introduction or hinting that this invasive alien species that, I don't know, WANTED TO ABSORB THE SOUL OF EVERY BEING ON THE PLANET INTO A HIVE MIND, even existed in the first place, then all of a sudden from 0 to 100 they become the absolute threat to every character we've come to know so far, including the klaxussaurs. Even "papas" weird talk about leaving behind their bodies wasn't taken seriously because that high council was never on screen for more than 2 minutes per episode. So they didn't even feel like important characters to pay attention in the slightest, at least for me, but then it turns out they were the most important, because they've been jebaiting humanity the whole time.

i didnt know that people hated the ending...i thought it was very fitting and really liked it.

Once the world leaders fused into a giant alien energy monster, the show went severely downhill for me. And I’ve seen people explain the poetry and symbolism behind ending, but they could’ve easily portrayed the same poetry and symbolism without doing… whatever it is that they did. I’m glad there were people who were able to enjoy it, but personally, I’m hoping for them to eventually make an alternate ending. Although it’s very unlikely. In fact, probably a 95% chance that doesn’t happen.

I actually really liked the entire animé. It was weird to get used to the world in the initial episodes but everything just came together kinda well. And the ending solved a huge problem which the world was facing so in a way it was sorta one of the best possible options.

I think it was pretty crappy. It escalated from fighting strange beasts on earth to fighting aliens who want to destroy all individual thought way too fast imo. Mc looked kinda cool with horns, thats about it

Compared to the Manga Ending it was really bad. But if didn’t have anything to compare it to I would say the End of DitF is too fast paced. The writer should’ve taken more time to think about a better ending than we have now. I would not say that the end we got is „trash“ and that the whole anime because of it too but I assume that everyone can agree that we all would be happier about an ending where 02 and Hiro come together and have a Family kinda like the rest of the squad. All in all it was a nice experience watching it but I call the end rather unsatisfying.

it was a good ending. my third time watching it. the people are just being overly anal about it. it wasn't too bad. the aliens were literally background noise. everything after episode 13 was human drama, and that was executed perfectly. while the world kept the story moving, it took the back seat.
