| Disc 3 of Shenmue II, starts now. Ryo gets more leads to finding Zhu Yuanda with the help of Ren of Heavens in Kowloon, but what he got into was the Yellow Heads with head honcho Dou Niu who is also seeking Zhu Yuanda to hand him over to the Chi You Men, Lan Di's cartel. Ren and Ryo got handcuffed together after this stint and escaped briefly from the Yellow Heads back to their hideout which Wong's skills help unbind them. The next stop to go is the residence of Huang the wiretapper, and the tapes provide a lead of their backdoor discussions, but Ryo being indecisive to head where next is Ren's chance to help him more since it involves money. By coincidence they spot Yuan buying some bird feed, and this closes in for Ren and Ryo to find Zhang Shuqin, Zhu Yuanda's associate kidnapped within Yellow Head quarters. Next stop, the Ghost Hall Building, and one by one, all the key unlock for them to find their man: Zhu Yuanda, but by a thread, the Yellow Heads caught up with them. Hong Xiuying appears when Ryo was beaten down and Ren escaped scot-free, so what does she have in mind? |

| Ryou and Ren played too peaceful that rescue. Yuan deserve a good punch on the face, and Dou Niu should had received the same treatment as Ryou received when going look for Ren, a good metal pipe to knock out. Im happy to see Master Tao, but I want to know how she got there. |

| So were up to Kowloon and enter Dou Niu, the giant fat B. Minus the in-game searching a lot happens pretty quick and Zhu is found, sadly they lead the yellowheads there too. Xiuying appears, Big Man gonna get hurt. |

| The episode was great, if not a tad bit rushed. Just like at the beginning of the Hong Kong arc, I feel like we're not getting enough of that Kowloon atmosphere, which is a shame since it's my favorite location in the games. Considering how large the remaining chunk of Shenmue II they've yet to adapt is, the pacing might suffer a bit in the last 3 eps, but I guess that was to be expected. Don't get me wrong, I still think they're doing wonders with the time they do have, I'm just worried that they might end up biting off more than they can chew. We'll see. But enough about that, let's focus on the positives. First of all, I LOVE the dynamic between Ren and the anime version of Ryo. The spunk they gave Ryo in the show bounces off of Ren so well. For the first time in my life, I feel like the Ryo-Ren dynamic is as good as the Ryo-Guizhang dynamic. The soundtrack was on-point (as always), and the same goes Dou Niu and Yuan's characterization. Also, that opening scene between Shenhua and Yunshen almost made me tear up. |

| This is a charming piece of work, but sometimes feels a bit as if it would lack something. A decade or two ago Shenmue anime would have been a big hit, but nowadays it feels a bit old. 12 episodes are probably not enough to do justice to everything. Still I really enjoy watching this on a weekly pattern. |

| A good episode, and I do enjoy the speed it's going at. I'm surprised Yuan didn't break their handcuffs with their chainsaw like they did in the game, instead they sort of fumbled around with a knife and Ryo and Ren just unlocked it back at base. Also, interesting to note that Dou Niu and Yuan have a direct connection to Lan Di, you'd think for someone somewhat small time in Kowloon they'd talk to some representative of Lan Di and not the big man himself. Interesting to see Xiuying at the end, wonder if this fight will be used to give Ryo some time to escape or if this will be the final fight with her and Ryo teaming up to take Dou Niu out. With three episodes left, I wonder how they'll spread it out. The final episode will probably be the whole of Disc 4, but will they maybe try and finish up Disc 3 next episode and make Disc 4 be two episodes with some more anime only changes and possible scenes from Shenmue 3? Yeah, it's interesting to think that a Shenmue anime around 2001/2 would've probably been a coo,l 24 episode, cel drawn affair in all it's 4:3 glory. This anime is fine and pretty much what I expected for a Shenmue anime (although the additional scenes are very welcome so it's not just a 1:1). So I'm not too annoyed with it being rushed but I do wish we saw Delin since he was quite a big character near the start of Shenmue 2 since he's your job buddy at the docks at the beginning. |

| Damn that is quite the elaborate way to Yuanda Zhu at the end, where all these secrets doors are for naught with how they left the trail open for the Yellow heads... |
