I was skeptical of my childhood's memories, but it turned out to be a fun ride. My favorite arcs were Frieza's arc > Piccolo's arc > Cell's ark. The last arc wasn't very good and the conclusion could have been done better. The best fights were from piccolo's arc, the rest were more about powering up rather than fighting martial arts. I read this manga online a few parts aren't translated, I remember there was a speech bubbles that said "Use Your imagination" I lol'd.

6-7/10 very solid.

I was hoping that Akira Toryama could do a better end for this spectacular story, 'cause the actual ending is a bit lame, but as he said sometime, he doesn't want to know anything about Dragonball anymore.

But well, it was an awesome manga, and the anime version too, full of many epic moments and it will be one of the best mangas ever created, and of course one of my favorites.

I've only seen the (American) version of Dragon ball Z, so I was a bit sceptical to start with the manga, but it was pretty good. Especially the Dragonball part, before Raditz arrival. From that point, I though it went a bit downhill with an incredible anti-climax, the Buu part. Damn I hated that arc. I wanted to give the manga an 8, but the last arc was just too ridiculous, it brought it down to 7/10.

Overall, it was a good manga and brought back some memories from when I watched Dbz on Cartoon Network ^^ I finished all chapters in just about 5 days, so yeah, I liked it.

my final thoughts on the manga is : its had a really fast pace to every chapter and reading it is faster than watching the anime, I really enjoyed the jokes and the fights that didn't last forever and im glad i picked up the manga.. to bad it ends here until next time!

Behold of my awesomeness~

I really liked this manga. 10/10. I actually thought the ending was fantastic. And I loved seeing everyone again (8-man and others from Dragonball, and Android 17 especially). I'd have liked to see Lunch again at some point after she disappeared, but oh well, guess Toriyama just got sick of her. She was probably my favorite character.

I read the manga because the anime is old and I kind of don't like old battle anime, so I avoid it with the manga.I liked the ending. The part before Z was the best, after that it went downhill for me, but I got Vegeta so it was cool enough. 10/10 anyways, it was a fun ride.

First of all, the Kanzenban (which I didn't read) had additional pages added to it, that included Goku giving Uub the Flying Nimbus and Vegeta vowing to defeat Kakarot one day. Either way, I really love this shot, it's the kind of iconic nostalgic ending shot that the original chapter lacked, so those additions were definitely for the best.

The ending of Dragon Ball has always been pretty meh to me. It makes sense to return to the tournament since Dragon Ball spent so much time in the Budokai competitions (which is not a complaint) and the Buu Saga began with one that turned nasty so having a more peaceful one at the end is fitting to highlight the contrast. Pan brings back memories of Kid Goku making jokes out of confident big opponents, and I loved Vegeta just destroying that one guy before his match-up even happened. And considering Goku's been trying to pass the Earth's hero torch off since the Cell Games, ending with him finding Uub makes sense but it's not very fulfilling, at least not without those additional pages. I'm also pretty upset that we spent so much time building up the relationship between Gohan and Videl, only to barely spend any time with them once they get together.

As for the series as a whole, I love Dragon Ball. I will always love Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z is the series of my childhood. Outside of maybe One Piece, I don't think there exists any other media franchise I've spent more time with than Dragon Ball, from all the show, movies, all the videos, all the toy playing and getting in character, to the abridged, to all the discussions about it, and finally after way too long, the original manga.

Dragon Ball is a very fun, quick, and consistent read. I didn't really like chapter one and there were certain stretches where I wasn't really feeling it but overall, it was very enjoyable. Very simplistic yes, but it usually understood dramatic stakes very well, there were some good characters arcs throughout, great in the case of Vegeta, a lot of fun dynamics and jokes throughout, and several really well-thought and well-crafted battles.

A great manga. It's a bit dated and definitely not perfect but it was an important show to me while I was growing up and even now, it's still an excellent battle manga.

Phew, this cleared some of my childhood's curiosities. I only played the game and never got to watch the anime as a child, so I didn't know what Frieza, Cell, or Buu were actually like. There are some more characters that I didn't get to find in the manga like Cooler or Broly, so it seems like they're anime original, but I guess I won't bother to watch them lmao. Anyway, I can't deny that the whole manga was pretty fun.

I gave it a 10/10 because it was my very first manga as a kid, and thanks to Dragon Ball I got introduced to this world which became a big part of my life. I’m almost 30 years old and still read mangas and watch anime, and I have only to thank Dragon Ball for this. The serie may not hold up to my childhood memories, it’s still a very fun and entertaining manga! If it were my first time reading this, I’d probably given it a 7/10.

what an incredible journey, similar to other replies i also started reading this because of a videogame (Dragon Ball Fighterz) and i'm glad i did. some of the scenes had me jumping around in my room of excitement. Piccolo has to be my favourite character.
Now that i finished, i must start going to the gym again and gaining strength.

Dragon Ball has 519 chapters but more people are writing in this thread so I will too. I guess the 520th chapter is the extra pages of Oob getting the cloud, which isn't in my volume.

Anyway, end of Dragon Ball. I've read the manga many many times growing up and a few times later. This time was the first time I properly went through it trying to really think and analyze my opinions and feelings. And it's been fun. Most of it I actually liked more reading it this way. I think Dragon Ball has a reputation for being simple and cliché. Simplicity can be a good thing though, which a lot of similar manga lack.

Toriyama is a great mangaka. I love his sense of adventure, his comedy and his characters. The best thing about him though is definitely the art. I definitely think Toriyama has some of the best art of any mangaka, and he is vastly underrated. Dragon Ball has the best flow between panels of any other manga I've read. It's such an easy read, and growing up on Dragon Ball I think has spoiled me, as I often struggle and compare when reading other other manga and comics.

As a fun endnote, I thought I will rank the arcs in a totally uncontroversial order. I do like all arcs, but here they are ranked from my least favourite, to my favourite:
10. Piccolo arc
9. Cell arc
8. Boo arc
7. Search for the Dragon Balls arc
6. 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai
5. 21st Tenkaichi Budokai
4. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai
3. Namek arc
2. Saiyan arc
1. Red Ribbon Army arc

Thank you! Good Bye!!

I feel very grateful for this manga, and all of the fun ideas that Toriyama-sensei showed to us. This was my second time reading the full manga, and my first time reading it since his passing. I'm just so glad that this story which entertained me so much as a child, still holds new things for me to discover and appreciate each time I come back to it. Thank you so much for giving us this wonderful story, Toriyama-sensei.
