THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Ah, Kumoko isn't used to getting popular or even being worshipped.

Looks like we got some more look into the elf village and Shun's friends. I mean, the episode itself explores both Kumoko and the humans' side so it's kinda balanced. Filimos is such an underrated character though. I'm just glad she got more screen time this episode.

LOLS the Divine Beast Kumoko is worshipped throughout the town. Blessings, merch, even art drawings, you name it, Kumoko's a god to them. That's pretty funny.

As expected, Shun and the others descending into the elf village, and hostility at the heavy against humans. Thank Oka-sensei (a.k.a Filimos) with her relations as daughter to the chief Potimas, but there's more secrets to what meets the eye in the village itself.

One thing's for sure: the (almost) entire reincarnated class reunion, this is one through many loops and circumstances that trust is slightly blight.
Back to Sophia, Potimas rescinding that Kumoko was sent by the Demon Lord Ariel to protect her, that's a clue to add into the reincarnation topic.

Kumoko's uneasiness may have narrowingly cost her very life by transporting back to the Elroe Labyrinth, and other than playing the usual censoring cliché and subserviant jokes, the Parallel Minds skill has constantly helped out a lot, and in this case, A LOT by sucking in Mother's properties.

The understanding is becoming more closer, and for that, the journey to make it far as this is becoming worthwhile. The future confrontation with Ariel will prove deadly for all.

So Kumoko is really praised everywhere now, most famous spider ever xD
So now most of the reincarnated students are reunited but that's quite tense for the relationship with the sensei...
Kumoko against mother was pretty since the parallel mind absorbed most of her skill points, so she finally beat her xD
But seems like Ariel is coming soon for her, I can't wait

Kumoko is being treated like a goddess. No wonder why. But, since she's a loner she has never experience something like this. Funny to see her like that.

All the reincarnations have been reunited. Potimas is alive as well and he went to meet the mythical beast. That Ariel? Detergent? pun was funny. LMAO. Kumoko has defeated mother as well. Great job Kumoko's three halves.

We're getting an upfront look at how the elves are treating these reincarnations. Not exactly the best treatment, being abducted and forced to live in seclusion with each other. I'm not even sure if we can trust Oka after seeing this, moments have added up to cast doubt towards sensei. The elves are super shady especially now that Potimas has seemingly come back from the dead, things don't seem right here. Shun can't trust these guys something is gonna happen, I wouldn't be surprised if the elves tried to force Shun and his group to stay permanently. Kumoko took down mother pretty easily once her parallel minds returned. Awesome that they absorbed mother's stats as they ate her astral body. That's really cool now Kumoko is even more over powered taking down mother easy. She could now face Ariel

Well, at least now we wouldn't be getting any more scenes of that stereotypical-isekai-male-protagonist hero(LOL) and his merry band of friends. Unless they decide to add some more original scenes with them...

Farewell Former Body Brain. Next up: the climatic (?) fight between Ariel and Kumoko! Well, if we are just comparing their stats, it wouldn't be much of a fight...wonder how Kumoko will avoid annihilation this time?

Well, at least now we wouldn't be getting any more scenes of that stereotypical-isekai-male-protagonist hero(LOL) and his merry band of friends.

Anime's pacing is already too fast as it is. Significant portion of characters development, mainly on the human side, was abandoned in order to squeeze the story in one season. Allocating more time for fights that do nothing to promote the story line just for the sake of action, would only make things worse. I re-watched the early episodes, and I get now why people hate human side -- it was rushed through and have not been developed. And that is in addition to the very low effort animation of the human plot later in the series.

Regarding stereotypical etc. hero party -- actually, there was nothing about the hero journey what-so-ever up until now. Shun just very recently received the title of the hero, and since then he only run away, escaping from Hugo and Sophia. In other words, he became a refugee and an underdog almost as soon as he got the title. And before that he was a student. But I do expect his heroic journey to save his friends, and maybe even the world, will happen sometimes in the future. Or at least I hope so, since we don't have a real hero in this story so far.

P.S. Some grammatical editing

some of the fights particularly for the Kumoko's side are actually important to the story. Especially the scene i talked about in the spoilers. The reason why I don't elaborate much is also because of further spoilers. Same thing with the hate for the hero(LOL) that too has a lot to do with the spoilers. Sorry to tell you this but almost all of my opinions on this series will only make sense once you know what happens in the future. if you can compare the anime to either the WN or LN...

The pacing has more or less been fine for the human side but it was rushed for Kumoko's side instead.

(Spoiler - About Potimas, guessable)

The other reincarnators appear and properly blame Oka-sensei. Clearly, elves are criminals that kidnap babies.
Sadly no one on the forum visited the thought that Sophia might not be a villain despite being all Sophia is a villain back when Shun was escaping the capital.

Once again, Shun shows he's unfit to be a hero. The reincarnators blatantly said "we were kidnapped (by the elves)" and it goes right over Shun's head as he worries about his friend. Learn to be a FUCKING hero! There's clearly a race of evil "demons" (elves) right in front of you so DO NOT side with them-FFS.

Kumoko VS Mother- I feel like the WN's descriptions were better than the visuals.

Edit: Added a spoiler tag I didn't feel necessary when I was using preview.

WTF, I was just happy about the past, and they fucked up all the fights again.

There was such a amazing battle where Mather crushed from all sides with walls and ceiling and black invisible threads, and in the end the parallel mind even offered her to retreat, but she proudly refused and decided to fight to the end. They rammed it up to one-shot with a beam.

There was a cool battle of Ariel vs 9 Ancient Dragons, in which the first survived only thanks to gluttony. And at this time, the bodily one was activated, seeing all the memory of Ariel. They rammed it up to one-shot with the ray of one single Gakia.

A battle with 6 Puppets, Ariel's heartbreaking cry about the deaths of relatives. CUT TO ALL CUT-OUT.

But they added a new, useless anime-only scene where Potimas for some reason spends time visiting Sofia's family. At the same time, he does not fucking learn anything new and only repeats the conclusions about Ariel again. WHY WHY WHY!? What did this scene give?

Is it just me or the quality really is just getting worse by each week.... Is the entire EP internationally outsourced again? That style was not Japanese. Japanese anime really rarely went with such annoying zoomed out characters shots like in this EP.
Regarding the story, I'm a WN reader, is the LN really went with that? Shiraori/Kumoko just lamely absorbing "Mother"'s stats like that?

I really loved the WN. That's why I'm really disappointed, not only on the continously degrading quality of the anime adaptation, but also to the changes the LN made compared to the WN. I mean, is the "Mother" fight really necessary at this point?

Edit:
I had just finally watched Ex-Arm EP 1 for the LoLz.... Frankly, I think that cinematographically (and ONLY cinematographically!) Ex-Arm EP 1 is still better than this EP. That tells a lot about the quality of this EP....

Did feel the human-side this episode was starting to drag a bit. But they did make a clear point for the humans we've known until now. Sensei's secrecy to them is really going to bite her in the ass , and she's likely been involved in some questionable stuff. Even if she was pretty forced into it due to being the Elf Chief's daughter, continuing to treat her students as children even though they've all lived a second life by now was poor judgement and rather disrespectful.

Really loved the opening scene and how Kumoko was suffering the reality of an introvert suddenly being thrust into the limelight.

While it was amazing to see Kumoko being given a huge poweer bosost, it does feel like the Mother fight was cut a bit short and ended up rather anti-climactic, especially since she was still showing herself to be a huge threat despite being 70% weakened. Doesn't feel like they've timed these episodes well when we have important human timeline moments that need fleshing out properly, followed immediately by an important Kumoko boss battle :(

Looking forward to seeing how long Kumoko stays on the run from Ariel before confrronting her. Godspeed Body-brain. They may not return as we know them, but guessing their hidden soul attack will help in the long run.

The dragon fight's not in the ln, which the anime is based on. it's basically just they fight, then a few days later (the next paragraph) gakia dies.
and the mother fight went, well basically exactly as written in the book.

The one off heal really served to raise Kumoko's fame by quite the amount. Quite the unexpected welcome that they got from the elf village though. I'll say the reaction to Karnatia is pretty normal given that in the real world she was a guy. The reunion with the other members of their class who had been reincarnated and rescued by Filmo's was nice especially for Fei. Up close mother really was frightening. The brains sure made quite the timely comeback. Though Kumoko managed too finally overcome and vanquish her overbearing mother there's still a matter of Ariel who will continue to hunt her down. But at the very least pressure will be lessened for her. Overall an excellent ep that managed to not only allow Kumoko to level off the playing field by taking care of her hunter but also serve to expand upon the other reincarnations as well. While the reunion was great the trust that Schlain and co had for Filmo's seem to have become strained. But with war looming on the village trust is something they will all need.

The humans side feels as empty as usual. They introduce a bunch of other students and I feel like I wont miss out on anything by not remembering any of them.

It does bother me that they just gave in into the kidnappings though. The adventurer ones who should have experience in combat should have at least some drive to improve their situation. The whole "lets just do what the sensei tells us" thing is really stupid considering all of them are in their 30s now.

Potimas visiting Sophia's parents just doesn't make any sense. After all it happens after two failed kidnapping attempts made by elves! With so many elven agents(disguised as bandits) killed by Kumoko recently it's even more unreasonable since it was clear someone is going after elves in that area. Even less reasonable is for him to speak his knowledge/thoughts of Ariel, Divine Beast(Kumoko) and reincarnators in the plain sight of said reincarnator.

I can still ask why Elves are so determined to imprison reincarnation, but considering how the show is determined to not give any answer, I must wonder whether I really care for the answers anymore as I don't really have any context for the conflict in question. I don't know what is in stake, and I don't know who is even fighting and why. Despite my many objections how it doesn't make sense, anime ironically enough had a very strong start, however, in time they drown in their own puzzles and don't care anymore whether the puzzle is solved or not.

Kumoko being worshipped as a god now by the humans, while being chased by the actual Divine Beast...

So a lot of other reincarnations got introduced and honestly loved that reunion. Fei has found her besties again and the reactions to Kanata now being a babe never gets old. Cause let's face it, He is hot now...

I have had my fair share of complaints on the CGI before, coming this far you would think I get used to it, but that CGI Ariel post credit was so much worse than before credits rolled.

Just before the classroom incident, the groups changed a couple of times and they've changed several times after the incident. @_@

Iirc in the LN, Ariel had a valiant battle with the Earth Dragons where she treated them with respect. She was angry for her daughter being killed, but didn't totally lose temper like a child. Here she shouts, shows tantrums, what the heck are you doing to best detergent grandma...

The unresolved issue from last episode remains, and this episode only made it worse. Kumoko killed two Elves right outside the freaking bedroom of Sophia and her parents, in part to save Sophia and in part to warn her parents that the Elves are targeting them. The third Elf fled, so there was noone to ditch the bodies. In the previous episode Sophia's father and his butler talked about Kumoko who camped right outside their town but "forgot" to mention anything about the two very dead Elven elephants in the room.

I thought that there was a (remote) possibility that the Elves were mentioned off-screen, or their mention was edited out to trim screentime. Now with the sudden and very unannounced appearance of Potimas, and his warm and utterly unsuspected welcome by Sophia's father, it was made clear that the Elven bodies somehow vanished into thin air. So what happened to them? Presumably the bodies fell into a deep chasm of plot contradiction and noone can see them anymore; they both lie outside that bedroom and they don't; they are Schrödinger's bodies.

Anyway, Elven body rant = over. In earlier episodes where Sophia and her parents were targeted by the Elves I thought Sophia was a target for who she was (a baby vampire). There were later hints that Potimas was gathering reincarnated students using bandits, mercenaries or Elves, but in this episode it was made clear that Potimas simply wanted to gather every reincarnated student to have them close (and apparently under his control), with the eager help of his daughter Oka-chan, who somehow happened to be the reincarnated Sensei of the students.

I strongly doubt Oka-chan does not know what Potimas did to gather the former students. Just from Sophia we know that the hired bandits (at first) and later the Elves were going to kill her parents to get her, and this would have happened had Kumoko not intervened. So Oka-chan is complicit at best, or an active participant at worst. Therefore it appears that this is not a simple story of good vs evil, which is nice. The Demons under Ariel, Sophia and the others (and perhaps Kumoko if she is the White Lady), with the useful idiot Hugo as a front, probably have very good reasons to target the Elves at least, though I do not yet know what the humans have done to them.

Abredon said:
Kumoko removed the bodies offscreen - she was talking about that.

No she didn't; at least not in the anime (perhaps she did in the light novel). On the contrary (in the previous episode of the anime) she made a point about Sophia's parents being rattled by the Elven bodies which would thus serve as a warning that the Elves have been targeting them. Since that motivation was already established it was even sillier for the screenwriter and/or director to misplace the bodies..

Abkaal said:
When did she say that? I only remember her stating that the bodies are bound to alert them to being targeted.

Exactly, that's what she said. (In the anime) Kumoko never suggested she would remove the bodies, which would be contrary to her plan about warning Sophia's parents anyway.

Have you thought that in this world, the bodies of Elves might just turn up outside bedrooms at night all the time?
It could be a nightly occurance :)
It would also give another reason as to why not many people seem to trust the elves in this world, the bloody sukebei peeping tom bastards :)
You go to bed,and wake up the next day with a dead elf/elves outside your room, then casually ask the butler or maid to take care of it,at which point said butler/maid drags the bodies away and either burns them,or takes them to the dead elf compost heap in the garden :D
So,there you go,the butler/maid did/saw it ;D

On another note, why the hell are those Kumo plushies not on sale in this bloody world?

You are funny ^.^ I would also like a Kumoko plushy btw; I want the one with the winked eye and tongue out :)
