I thought the Grey Haired boy's story was way sadder but it was still a great episode. This, Vivy, and Megalobox 2 are the standouts of the season for me.

Thunderbolt Fantasy and Kingdom airing right now is great too if you enjoy those 3

A really painful episode ... TToTT.. I didn't expect March to die in this series ... She is still a young kid with a lot of dream the she want to chase when she grown up .... Feel so heartbroken right now TToTT

But it is a perfect episode tho... 10/10 TToTT

I probably wouldn't finish this episode without fast forwarding. It was so melodramatic, I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Maybe I'd feel different if March wasn't increasingly annoying through this arc but I can't bring myself to care about any of the characters, so I doubt it. Just another plot device fulfilling its role. Just a cheap drama that may work on overly emotional viewers. So far looks like first episode was just a bait.

Anyways, still a pretty decent episode overall. I usually end up becoming an ugly mess when it comes to little girls dying but this time, I didn't feel particularly moved. Guess I was more interested in Fushi's development and the surreal fact of Hayase still being able to follow Parona and co. despite having been massacred by "Oniguma" mere minutes ago.
It's a flaw coming from a lame direction. Actually, some months would have been passed from March's death. (Her mother said "What were you doing for half a year?") Although "half a year later" caption should have been put or different BGM should have been used, two scenes were connected seamlessly. The priority might have been given to the flow of the emotion over comprehensibility.

I'm a manga reader and even if I knew what was gonna happen it still got me.

...................
Good thing to watch all of these parts again animated, now more things that happen later in the series make much more sense, so keep the little details in mind.

And so the real pain begins. I ugly cried through about 90% of this episode. It just broke me when March’s spirit cried out that she didn’t want to die and that she actually managed to save Perona through Fushi, who’s now experienced loss. I just wish that he’d finished Hayase off and that Perona hadn’t missed the headshot.

The soundtrack did an amazing job of really driving all the emotions home, from the joy when they managed to escape to the heartbreaking when March died. I thought I’d be okay since I've read the manga but the music just brought another layer to the story that had me experiencing things like I hadn’t.

That crazed look by Hayase at the end was something else. She was probably extremely traumatized by Fushi's attack. She definitely deserves it, but I wonder if she will come back into the story and how she will have changed since.

The best and most heart-wrenching episode so far. I didn't expect March would die (sniff..) though I probably should due to the nature of the story. I think it's impressive that they still have not killed Hayase though. I think her fate is to die a very slow and agonizing death, first by being deformed physically, then mentally and eventually completely losing her sanity while looking for Fushi.

Meanwhile Fushi evolves fast, gets even stronger, adopts even more forms and heals even faster, so good luck with that. Mere arrows will no longer cut it. Next episode looks intriguing. Another supernatural entity besides Fushi? I wonder if it was unleashed by his creator (listed as "Kansatsusha" in the credits) to get him to evolve even faster.

Looks like Fushi will now have to deal with crazy obsessed Hayase stalking him wherever he goes.

Question : Did Fushi see or felt March's ghost/presence?

Loved the episode but something I found pretty distracting was the size of March's corpse which Parona was holding at the end of the episode. Does anybody else think ig looked awfully tiny? I checked and in the manga it looked about the same size at that point but earlier it is shown to be clearly bigger. I know March was a shall Girl but IT looked like she was carrying a 3 month old baby in that blanket. Still a 10/10 episode and I cried like a bitch, that detail kinda took me out a little tho.

May she live on through the expression of Fushi. Rest in Peace, March.

I honestly like the implications of this. Though they may be dead, a part of them lives on through Fushi. Tbh, the first episode still get's to me. He died so suddenly and quickly that he never got to achieve anything and I find that very sad.
This episode helped declare that the dead arn't really dead. They can interact and speak through Fushi even if only a bit.

I am kind of not fazed by what happened in this episode because it was almost clear that the boy/wolf/stone will not understand feelings or how to be human without witnessing those deaths. The first episode truly had an impact on me, but I saw March's death coming. I still expected the author to keep her alive to show more of her influence on the boy. Alas, that did not happen. And if I'm being honest, 5 episodes in but I'm not very impressed.

well, I heard from someone that it took 1 or 2 months for Parona and Fushi to get to Ninannah so March body might be decomposed through time

But a few episodes back March's head was bigger than Parona's when they were shown side by side. The mystery deepens.

Maybe I would have felt moved and sad if there weren't so many inconsistencies in this show. The horses pulling their cart destroyed a wooden door like it was nothing, and after that there was a brutal transition between the characters being outdoor in the forest and them being right in the middle of the city. And on a more subjective level, if March didn't start to become completely annoying and if Palona acted rationally instead of complying to March's childishness.
I don't know if it's an adaptation problem or if the author just doesn't care about writing a coherent story with elements making common sense, but it's getting hard for me to not notice all these inconsistencies and brush them over.

Seems like next week the story will take a shounen turn with a charismatic and powerful villain or whatever being introduced. I honestly don't know what to think about this show anymore. I was baited by people saying Fumetsu no Anata e was the new Mushishi but I don't see any similarities between them. I thought there would at least be a lot of work on the atmosphere (this including the music in particular) in Fumetsu like it was done for Mushishi, but that's not the case. The mood is very different, and honestly Fumetsu's stories felt really cheap to me until now. I'll still try to watch the next arc episodes to see if they can change my mind, but right now the probability I drop the show is high, unfortunately.

The pacing in this show is so weird...is the manga also paced like this? It's not even like it's "rushed." It just feels like they are only showing highlights of what is a very long span of time in universe. It was definitely obvious that this whole Ninannah arc was waaaaaaay longer in universe compared to what was shown in the anime.

Alright, we're done with March's arc. It may sound bad but not even in the manga i managed to get attached to her so I'm not surprised the anime didn't give me much of an impact either although the voice acting and emotion was nice.

I am excited for next arc though, I really like Pioran
"In the past few months since we met, I've shared many memories with Nagato. Though I've also shared memories with Haruhi, Asahina-san and Koizumi, I found that I've experienced more events with Nagato in particular. In fact, every situation seems to involve her. I might as well mention this, she's probably the only person to cause the bell within me to shake the most vigorously..." ~ Kyon, TMOSH

It's been a really long time since an anime made me cry.
I know that a lot of people were sad when the white haired boy died in the first episode, but I honestly didn't really care for him 'cause it was obvious he'd die so that Fushi could have a human form (and he only was there for one episode).
But the second March got shot I just started crying and didn't stop until the end. She was such a precious little girl and her death was done really well imo. I felt horrible for her and Parona. What a shame Hayase got to live. Fushi turning into the bear and wreaking havoc was awesome tho.

Next episode looks great as well, I just gotta recover from this ^^'

Shit... this is how it's done. The build up from all the previous episodes come through on this episode. There's always an anime that out of the blue strikes you like this, Parona being a big sister to March while always smiling like her deceased sister would smile to her, just made the end even more moving.

I knew that she was going to die but DAMN i still cried like a baby anyway.
I was holding back tears until Parona showed March's parents her letter with her tiny handprint on it. It made me bawl my eyes out, this is so unfair.

Other than that, amazing episode as always, it made me feel a lot, just like episode 1. Can't wait to see next week's episode !

Some immediately thoughts on this show.

first, this ep felt like a movie, and it wasn't because was boring or dense, but the complete opposite to me.
Second, related to the first point, this first part felt like and entire season. I went through all the steps needed to empathize with the characters and I completely got invest in the plot. And then, It came the climax and the tears.
It is incredible as how much well the story is written, with such simplicity on its premises but with certain sort of complexity and deep meaning underneath, that I hope It'll be expanded. The story telling is great pased as well, producing a excellent, full emotional and interesting god damn show. Best of the season so far. Let's see how this ends.

last but not least, Parona my waifu, I've seen her first.
