So now the machines are "alive"... but monsters. It had too many fade-to-blacks for scene changes. It kind of broke the vibe. |

| Malice's kiss is like a pandemic, a disease. At first the robots turned are blissful to be alive, but soon comes the feeling of pain and with their newfound bodies now they have the potential to die and experience death unlike their previous ones. |

| An even more nuanced direction than I was expecting from this series. After being shunned for her new organic form, Malice@Doll evidently thought that she could instead find harmony with the other dolls by making them just as "human" as her. Unfortunately, it seems like the kiss has wildly variable results — only Malice@Doll herself was turned into a human without any noticeable mutations, and that was solely because she was transformed via magic (or divine intervention). Despite these kisses seemingly being done without any intention of "Malice" (hence the title), the results aren't as perfect as you'd like them to be. Perhaps it demonstrates that even seemingly messianic actions can have consequences, if they were proliferated without sufficient knowledge. Of course, despite the horror aspect being much more prominent in this episode, it still begs the question: Is it better to fall into disrepair and destruction as a machine; or to be given new life, with all the potential forms and detriments that come with it? |
