After that lecture, it looks like Kasumi got more determined than ever as an idol. The fakeout punch...

There's also some terrific onstage performance. The coordination and visual style of the shadows, rain, camera angles, etc captured the magic of an idol's talent imo.

Kasumi saves the day yet again and adds another member to her harem.

Loved Shizuko’s performance as well. We’ll definitely accept you for who you are :)

Now the episode I’m looking forward to is next week, Karin ep 🀀

If it would have been told me, that there is somebody who akacknowledge first, that Shizuku is hiding something, my first guess would have been wrong. And my second guess... And my third guess... and my 8th guess tooo.. Kasumi would have been the very last person I would have guessed. But on the other hand all the critics I wrote about her for the last episode, I have to take back. She ist again the better version of Nico. And when we compare both person, Kasumi masters this snapping of doom like Nico. Do you remember, when in Love Live! The school idol project, episode 6 did this on Honoka? Thes exactly same thin is Kasumi just doing on Shizuku! Just one thing more in the list of similarities.

But this episode is about Shizuku. And first of all I like this kind of different metaphorical layer. Her play is get used to show her inner conflict. As explicitely hoped by this other person from the theater club Shizuku is playing herself but fails, because she can't open her true self. And this is exactly the problem of her role in the play.

Further things my I catched: Her dog is called "Ophelia" like a role in Shakespeares "Hamlet. Furthermore there is a scene, where Shizuku watches a poster with pichtures of Audrey Hepburn. Beside the fact, that she adores her, this is surely a further reference

(I really like this song)

All of all this is a great episode. I was hesitating, but now I say, that Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Club is the best of all Love Live series!

Finally, Shizuku can be honest with herself. A really tough day for her, but everything went well in the end with Kasumi who can save the day again. Like Rinari said Shizuku needs someone to help her like when Rinari has Ai.
The stage performance and Shizuku's song are great. It's another song that I really like.

I would like to see all of the members' faces on Rinari's board after she drew one for Shizuku.

Goooooo best girl Shizukuuuuuuuu
When hearing her 2nd song Audrey, i KNEW she will always forever best niji girls for me. I love how they elaborate how she usually act so plain and like to be in the background. (Remember, Japanese do have the tendencies to outcast the different one. So her actions makes sense).
Oh And btw, that's two of her song mentioned there (Anata no Risou na Heroine and Audrey) while the stage acting shift from Risou no Heroine lyrics to mostly Audrey.
And of course, our Kasumin became "that person" for Shizuko just like Ai is "that person" for Rinali~
And i looooooove the dress~ low-key a dress that i can buy without it looking like a cosplay.. (lol).

Easily best episode~

Let's get this out of the way

Kasumin is the MVP in this episode.

Anyway, good episode. Quite a relatable internal conflict. Didn't expect Shizuko to have a problem like this at first glance, but I guess the context of this episode made her problem reveal itself. Nice performance too. I liked the visuals. Watching the first years hanging out together was fun.

Anyway, looking forward to sexy girl episode next week.

Shizuku's time to shine!! She's recently become my best Nijigaku girl so I was sooo excited for this week's episode!! Her struggle is really relatable to me, having this anxiety about feeling different and alone.

The stage/inner monologues was super cool! It reminded me of Revue Starlight in a way, which is fitting considering the drama club president is voiced by Karen and
Shizuku's line in the opening, "I want to be your ideal heroine" is actually the title of her first solo (Anata no Risou no Heroine). Probably my favorite of the first solos

Next! The poster Shizuku was looking at, "Audrey", is the title of her second solo!

Shizuku's new solo is so good! The visuals, her new outfit, the cameos of 2 SRs and her sailing UR. Eagerly awaiting the full version to play on repeat

Good episode again, love how supportive Kasumi was to Shizuku. It's always nice to be told that you are liked for who you are and that people will be accept you as you are.

Great performance again.

Love the touch with Shizuku's clothes. They are black and white divided in half that seem to represent both parts of herself and then down the middle there's a gray as if to signify a meeting point between both of them.

Shizuku's performance was nice. Loved how they combined the black and white dresses into one!

I'm excited for next weeks episode!! Karin...hehe...!

Shizuku's performance was amazing, and her black and white outfit is so beautiful, it's one of my favorite outfits in NijiGaku. Also, the other girl who played as her imposter dressed super well, she really looked like Shizuku aside from the mask. There was some drama in this episode as expected, which makes sense considering that Shizuku is an actress, and Kasumi has made Shizuku so confident in herself, it made me like Kasumi more than ever. Really amazing episode!

Can't freakin' wait for Karin's episode next week!

In all of the NijiGaku outfits that was revealed, I think personally, Shizuku has the one who has a deep meaning to it.
The title is "Shizuku Monochrome", and the word Monochrome means "one color" means that Shizuku is still Shizuku, despite of her conflicting mindsets, which was represented by the black and white Shizuku. White Shizuku thinks that acting would make her feel better so that no one would hate her. But Black Shizuku makes her realize that she wants to sing, even if some people would hate her
Also her outfit is somewhat of a reference to the Tao Trio from Pokemon Black & White, which was Reshiram, one who pursues truth, Zekrom, one who pursues ideals and Kyurem, the absence of both. And the fact that her outfit that she wears was white, indicating that she represents Reshiram, one who pursues truth.
Her "truth" was basically she was hated by everyone because of her love for novels and old movies, hence why she started acting so that no one would hate her. But ironically, she was not the ideal heroine. There was one who actually collided with her "truth" and that was Kasumi, who represents Zekrom, one who pursues ideals. Kasumi thinks to herself that she is cute everytime and she wants to be the cutest school idol. That was her own ideal self. She didn't care what others would say to her. If she thinks she is cute, then she is cute.
This made Shizuku realize that her "truth" was always not the truth. She wants to sing, more than anything else. People might hate her, but that is what she wants. Hence the mix of black, white and gray in her dress. Representing that she accepted both of her ideal self and true self.

Why is it that some of these characters have such relatable problems.

Shizuku's perfomance was really great, not just the acting but visually I really loved how they set it all up. The two Shizuku's at the start really set up the mood for the rest of the episode, but best was when they made the two dressed merge into one. Brilliant stuff.

Kasumi had a big play into this episode as well. Loved her moment with Kasumi and I can actually also say that she was cute this episode, that blush was glorious!

decent episode kinda hard to top last week when Shizuku has mostly been a shadow up till this point , don't mind the inner struggles of being yourself it's quite a commonly relatable thing but i was hoping for a bit more unless shes hiding more i was expecting her to have a you know actual less "kinder" personality instead she was sorta plain but stubborn ,good song tho.

props to Kasumi being very supportive and actually cute for once lol

That’s a great analysis of the symbolism in this episode. πŸ‘πŸ½

This might be the best episode so far. Shizuku’s struggle is something that many people can relate to, and the anime did an excellent job conveying her issues through dialogue and symbolism. Moreover, the pacing, animation, and character song were all on point.

Yay, I'm happy Shizuku's episode did her justice! Her outfit and song were probably my favorites thus far of all we've seen. Episode was layered in a way that led to a great payoff with her performance. Also, there were quite a few minor references to her other singles and All Stars outfits that made the episode all the more fulfilling if you're familiar with them and pick up on those.

The episode was great for Kasumi too, so bonus there. She's the character type I'm typically not fond of, but episodes like these go quite a long way!

Shizuku, just couldn't even learn from her clubmate, Rina, from what she has been feel so far. She was hiding her deep morale, her liking, her characteristic, only to satisfied a certain peoples that might not care much about her, until she forgot to be herself. A black self of her (aka her drama clubmate) wanted to pull her out of her misery, to brought the best acting performance. But she was still too stubborn, rejected the reality, insist to be herself. As the result, she became gloomy all over it, and lack of confidence about that. Well, its time for a cutie pie Kasumin to acted more than she thought. She was so emotional out there, releasing everything she had, only to disillusionized Shizuku, out of her naivety, and unfounded fear. Its, ofc, successfully brought a new brand Shizuku out of her gloomy day, and performed a nice solo drama musical near the last scene. The end!

What a beautiful little story coming from a certain typical girl that wanted to be your ideal heroine. Solid.

Okay, the next might be the last introduction to all nijigasaki school idol girls. So lets see it ....

The central conceit of this episode with Shizuku's character arc is fine and works well enough from a writing and character perspective - suggests that her minimal presence so far was intentional perhaps - but I was ultimately distracted by the aggressively unsubtle metaphor of the stage performance: it was a nice idea, but far too blunt to work as well as the show wanted it to.

Either way, this episode didn't change my view of Shizuku as being the least interesting character in this entire cast by far (only Emma really comes close imo) and her song was also pretty dull. After all, Kasumi basically stole the limelight in this episode for Shizuku, much like Karin stole the limelight in Emma's episode.

Speaking of Karin, after the arc they gave her during Emma's episode I'm curious to see what else they have in store for her next week.

I gotta be honest when i first saw Kasumi I didnt like her since i find her extremely annoying. Even in the games i still dont like her as she really acts like Nico Yazawa but when the anime started i was actually shocked to see a different side of her. She isnt as annoying as i remembered and i saw her as more mature which i like. I also consider her as the Club president rather than Setsuna due to the fact that Kasumi didnt gave up and actually tried her best to rebuild the club. As episodes progress i see the more caring side of Kasumi rather than the Jealous annoying side of hers. Especially in Ep 8 which revealed that Kasumi has an Observant side, a characteristic a true leader must have. So far i love how the anime showed us that Kasumi despite being a nico version 2 she still is a very caring and dedicated friend and leader and for me that sets her apart from Nico. I hope to see Kasumi be the no. 1 Cutest idol she hopes for because shes definitely is in my eyes.

Oh, so this is why there are so many Kasumi x Shizuku fanarts out there. Totally approve, by the way.

Third 5/5 episode in a row. Simply loved how it was directed by using Shizuku's play and performance as a way to express her inner conflict. Not to mention that visually speaking, her musical performance at the end was absolutely stunning as well.

Now as for Kasumi, she truly shined this time with the way how she helped Shizuku overcome her doubts. Her deciding to become Shizuku's support just like Ai became Rina's was so sweet to see and her "confession" about loving every aspect of her was indeed a pretty heartwarming moment too.

P.S.: Considering this episode's premise and the fact of Drama Club's president being voiced by Karen's VA, the Revue Starlight vibes I got here couldn't have felt stronger. Man, what a interesting show that was.

Fantastic episode. Amazing ShizuKasu confession scene aside, I’ve always liked Shizuku because of how much I saw myself in her, and that only exemplified with this episode. I truly understand her motivation and passion for acting, as it’s nearly one in the same with my own reason for acting. Onstage, you can forget about everything else and everyone’s expectations; you truly are a different person for that moment. You can put your all into putting out a performance you feel proud of. But, if you’re too afraid to put yourself out there in the first place, that performance will never become a reality. As someone who considers acting an escape from the real world, like Shizuku, that sentiment might seem contradictory, and that’s exactly what it is. To want to pursue your passion in response to your less than satisfactory reality, but being too scared to put the effort into your passion at all. I think this episode did a great job at showing this conflict realistically, and more or less resolving it simply in a way that should seem so obvious.

Bonus points for how cleverly the play was used as a framing device. Having the two Shizukus canonically be characters in the play but also serve as symbolism for her conflict wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but it was well-done nevertheless. What was groundbreaking was that performance! Stunning CGI and visuals, especially when the rain froze mid-song.

As an actor myself, I really could relate to Shizuko and that dilemma of only being able to play characters instead of being true to myself. Her monochrome performance - true to form - reminds me of the older black & white movies from the mid 1900s (with her own colorful spark added in).

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
