Which is not a sentence I ever expected to say towards Attack on Titan.

Your opinion is understandable, luckily for you, that you weren't reading these chapters when they were coming out monthly, because the arc at the beginning was a bit controversial based off what I remember, a lot of manga readers "saying they want to see the main cast and this is boring" some even drop the series too.

Also keep in mind that this four episodes are simple to show you the perspective of the other side, maybe make some viewers get attach to them.

Lucky for you anime only watchers, you only wait a week for a new episode.

Next episode you will get your wish and beyond. In retrospect when this season is finish I think you will realize why they focus on the Eldians in inside of Marley.

The hype isn't related to these past 4 episode, but next episode is going to be a big one.

Re: @MironBiron and @SirTristram, those changes aren't something that were done in a whim as Isayama has been hands-on with this adaptation and highly likely to be calling the shots and approval on what and what's not to show in each episodes. That said, outsourced or not, I think they'll try their best for the next episode and if they want to prove themselves this is their chance.

They obviously need his validation at the end but that doesn't mean he really has the creative control to do things his way. I would like to see Dorohedoro S2 from him instead of AoT tbh. I would rather wait a few years more for Wit to return or give a better schedule for MAPPA. Unlike you say, AoT final season would eventually happen no matter what.

Exactly, ridiculous how some people reacted so negatively back then as well. AoT is so great because of how it sets things up, but then there's always the people complaining whilst it's being set-up. I mean it's fair for them to complain, but in the grand scheme of things, and especially when everyone has come this far in the story and followed it for however long, I personally find it really strange how some people still complain about the way the series has been doing stuff rather than just sitting back and enjoying the ride.

The return of crawling Pieck and the mystery of who the warhammer titan is.

THE END WAS SO HYPE I SCREAMED, So casual and random. The fact that we need to wait until Jan 10th is really annoying.

fair point, but tbf we haven't seen Hayashi direct any ep yet and he hasn't rly storyboard any eps by himself-usually with another person, cause in dorohedoro we saw him storyboard nearly every ep and also direct quite a number of eps while we barely saw him on AOT, let's reserve our judgements abt him until then.

Now as for Production wise, I think we won't see much quality drop until ep 8, many leakers also said Marley arc is safe and Eslam said in-betweening for ep 6 started way before August. Maybe quality will drop from ep 9-13 and then ep 14-16 will rise again cause climax eps are usually higher quality.

Also, If you don't mind I want you and @MironBiron to tell me your top 5 eps from AOT(s1-3) and why and your worst 5 eps ( from s1-3) and why, I'm genuinely curious and am looking forward to your answers

Whoa, that moment where "Grandpa Yeagar" was talking to Eren (I mean...I would've not been able to recognize what he was talking about if I hadn't done a quick rewatch of the last few eps of last season before watching this season...)
....I so wonder what was going through Eren's head during that conversation.

So excited for the next ep....I only vaguely recall what I read happens in the manga when I peeked ahead after several seasons ago of AoT and only sure thing I remember is that IT'LL BE EPIC.

Seriously there's a 2 week break though? I guess that's why this started airing way earlier than the other winter anime T-T

There is always one thing in every episode that makes me hyped for the next one, but this time! Oh boy! They finally met, i wonder how that will go tho.

Eren's been using that kid to send letters and not getting caught, this time he even brought Reiner. Wonder how that kid will react when he finds out who is actually the guy that he's been helping xD

So that "doctor" wasn't a random person, gotta love this about SnK.

And now the next episode, i wonder what is that guy's ultimate plan, on whose side is he...

Just because Krueger is younger (in his 20's) than Mr. Yeager (the doctor).

In Japanese you can use -kun to adress a man who is a colleague or younger than you.

Fantastic episode, the build up is so good. The amount of times my eyes widened up noticing some little details this episode is insane. It's great that I kind of forgot some of the things that happened in those manga chapters.

Another great episode to build up for the next one. Interesting to see the Tybars introduced. I can't unhear the voice of Inoue Kazuhiko but I think it fits perfect for Willy who seems to be an interesting character. Like Magath I also couldn't tell which one of the Tybars actually is the Warhammer titan.
The conversation between Magath and Willy was very interesting. Learning more about the past of Marley, Eldia and them as the big authority.

Seems like the Pieck scene was a bigger deal for manga readers. Good thing it made it in.

The interaction of the kids was pretty funny. Damn Gabi didn't even understood what Falco told her.

I wonder why Willy looked so afraid in the second conversation with Magath.

Wow so that was Erens grandfather? At first he seemed pretty normal but damn is he mentally broke.

Ngl the moment where Udo spilled wine on that womans Kimono I thought it was over for him. But of course SnK surprised me again. Would be interesting to know if all people in Hiizuru are like that.

The ending was very lighthearted. For Gabi, Falco, Udo and Zofia the festival must have been like a dream. Poor Reiner reminded me on Al Bundy xD

That post credit scene omfg. Reiner finally meets Eren. And with such a cliffhanger we now have to wait for 2 weeks. The torture is real >.<

I'm so excited to hear what Eren has to say and what will happen afterwards. Seems like shit is about to go down. I'm sure Falco will have his biggest WTF moment ever.

what he said is almost like cap of the century. also what camera angle? its literally near same as manga, and there were no fights or any scenes for "dynamic" camera angles, so i really dont understand what he meant cause where they made extra scenes and the ptsd camera angle, the nailed it. they added more detail to the tybur family and the colours were great, close to zero blur, and impact? i feel like this episode did better with that than its manga counterpart

It is a military title which makes sense as this probably was a result of translation inconsistencies considering Magath was addressed as a commander in the previous episodes.

They have already cut quite a lot up to this point but it's nothing major and it's understandable because of the 16 ep limit they have.

Personally I am glad they cut what they did because it felt like a real slog in the manga to me.

He was also shown in episode 2. When tha warriors returned to Liberio, Zeke was shown reuniting with his grandparents.

well, it's finally here guys: pieck's ass reiner's identity crisis is coming full circle.

i was like actually shaking at the end of this episode i'm so excited. it was so good to FINALLY see my boy willy animated and it's really great to see him at his best. mappa is definitely doing him justice. kiyomi's looking great too. tbh i completely forgot the banquet scene even happened lol but it came back to me as i was watching

props to mappa for doing dr yeager's breakdown so well. that was genuinely probably one of my favorite scenes in the manga and in this episode - it brings things together for the audience and for eren in terms of his father's childhood and marley as a country. very well done.

OOOOOOOHHHH I'M SO EXCITED FOR EP 5!!! i did NOT see YOUSEEBIGGIRL coming at the end there but i'm so glad it's there. the hype is through the fckin ROOF! i know this is super cliche but fr this time.....prepare yourselves for episode five.
