I was always fond of side characters being developed and this episode I fell in love with every second of it.

Tanaka being the main focus of this episode. In my opinion it was quite thrilling to watch Tanaka overcome the challenges in the game and with the combined animation, soundtracks and flashbacks I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for even a second. When Tanaka made the cross shot I was so happy I couldn't help but smile and the whole build up to the shot was insanely well done.

Fantastic episode :)

Tanaka, nice kill!!

Great to see an episode focused on Tanaka, it’s just high time he deserves a spotlight. He’s such an awesome character.

And that move from Kageyama crossing the net I didn’t know that was possible. Another volleyball info I can add on my database lol

Tanaka's mental strength was on full display this week. A lot of respect goes out to him to keep himself going despite his struggles during the match, especially after being completely ignored at one point by Tsukishima. Thankfully he kept playing his ass off and it all worked itself out at the end. He may not be the best player on the team, but he's the most important member for sure.

My boy Ryu showing that even the most average of players can still have their own little moment of greatness. Such admirable mental stability indeed.

Fantastic episode overall. It started kinda slow but the buildup that led to Ryu getting the set point for the boys was awesome. And man, what a perfect cross spike!

Yoooo, I forgot this Tanaka focused moment happened; glad it was executed so well! They really did his cross spike justice!

Definitely a huge relief to see the animation quality return to normal this episode.

Not excited for next week's Nekoma episode, tho. This is looking to be a whole cour match, why will they "waste" time on Nekoma?!

why not? this season is not like the Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa season that all the chapters was around and about that match.

To the top will show everything that the national tournament arc implies (ok, maybe not literally everything. but it's not about a one and only match either) insert part of nekoma's match it's great for a good pacing

and we all want to see kenma's face (=ↀωↀ=)

Now this is Production I.G quality.

Good episode. The best part was when Tanaka scored that winning point. That really was on par with the manga. Glad Haikyuu is finally back on track.

Really happy that we got a Tanaka centred episode finally! That cross-shot was pretty awesome and it was nice to see him shine for once. I have a lot of respect for him still looking up even if he may not be the best. I know the feeling of being average and it's not the best feeling. It was reassuring to know that he's doing fine and I'm proud of him.

I was quite worried about the title of the episode but it turned out all good. It would be nice if someone explained what Kanoka meant by the end of the episode in-depth and why she felt "heartbroken". I have some sort of idea though.

The animation and art are back to normal now and I can definitely see the improvement. Really does make a difference.

Finally after sometime, we look at Tanaka's past and how he entered Karasuno's volleyball team.
The animation is finally back to normal and half the game i was at the edge of my seat. Jesus Christ. But I think having episodes centering around their past and how they overcame their old selves is very interesting

P.S: (who else was laughing at Bokuto's reaction? My boy was panicking the entire time lolz)

she was heartrbroken because in a way she was rejected by tanaka. the thing that tanaka said and does ''try it until you do it''. it also means about kiyoko. tanaka will try and try until she wins kiyoko over and kanoka understood that

An emotional episode. I can't watch my boy Tanaka ever so depressed. He's just so pure and has such a beautiful soul. I'm happy that he got over it and that spike was amazing. Amazing episode. Love you, Tanaka.

I cried during this and when Tanaka got that last spike, and he scored. . . I literally shouted "Yossshhhaaaa" in sync with the characters! that's just how much I love Tanaka's spirit.

kinda disappointed that they didnt show the one where Tanaka asked kageyama to not toss to him. but overall this was a great episode!

Back when 1st cour ended some people said that Inarizaki was better Shiratorizawa.
I don't know if it's Karasuno who've become stronger, or the emphasis on Wakatoshi did a really good job, or maybe Inarizaki hasn't shown its full strength yet, but really at this point I don't get the impression that Inarizaki is that much stronger than Shiratorizawa.

Shimizu is so pretty, I wish I could have eye contact with her.

Haikyuu gives me a mix of feelings that make me cry and laugh in the same episode. That's why I love this anime so much. Besides, I knew Tanaka's moment was coming. I felt the same vibe just like Tsukishima's block against Shiratorizawa.

Wow, this was the first episode since the season 3 finale that made me really emotional!! Tanaka is kinda relatable, when he talked about the overwhelming feeling he gets about being average I really felt that, so seeing him win the set for Karasuno just made me really happy I guess.
But this was a great episode, another example of why hq is a great series!!

just like tanaka kazunari's last line as coach ukai had said, don't you dare look down! volleyball is a sport where you're always looking up! tanaka boiiii you're everything but average! i did not take him for the type that would see himself that way, i've also never seen him as average, he has served some powerful spikes across the various matches & this was just an amazing episode, basically what i love about haikyuu♡

i ESPECIALLY loved that bit where tsukki was talking about his "mental toughness" that was a nice juxtaposition with how this episode was focused on his inner thoughts

also, lmao at bokuto's reactions

excited for nekoma's appearance next week ♡♡

but i’ll probably remember over and over again

So the childhood friend is aware that tanaka likes someone else? I don`t remember a escene in which she finds out, or is it that the anime excluded some content? How can she find out that Tanaka likes someone else only based on how he plays?
